People are saying subscriptions are okay and they use bambu slicer so it doesn bother them yada yada, but they're missing the point... Companies that lie and do rugbpulls after purchase should be called out. Printers have come out with locked down filaments and subscriptions but they made that clear day one and didn't abuse open source. XYZ printing did this and at least they were honest! If Bambu gets away with this other companies will follow suit!

All the back tracking they’re doing now is a bit cringe too

Make no mistake subscriptions are comming and not just bambu lab.
The community has totally missed the point. Bambu are not just looking for subscriptions from consumers but also licencing from the industry as a whole.
Where bambu lead the industry will follow.
Orca will have to pay licence fees to bambu for direct access and control of bambu printers. Orca will then have to charge a subscription for the Bambu plug in. The same will be true of hardware upgrades like BTT panda.
Filament manufacturers will have to pay a licence fee to be compatible with bambu printers. E.g a dollar per spool for the right to use bambu coded tags and a dollar to cover the cost of the tag itself. The printer and bambu will know when you have used the 1kg on that spool so no refilling it to trick the machine.
Other consumables like print beds may become coded in some way by bambu so again third party suppliers will have to pay licencing thus increasing cost to the consumer. Or subscriptions paid to bambu to use third party components.
E3d and other hot end manufacturers and manufacturers of non coded componenys are going to have to pay a licence fee to bambu. Then there will be no warranty or voided warranty if you use non approved components. And loss of software support likely the machine will then brick after a time.
This will become the industry norm
