One thing to keep in mind, ping. If your making edits faster than your ping can register, then those edits aren’t actually gonna happen. You can edit and select at the same time thinking it’s gonna go through but if ur ping is too high, ur only gonna open up the edit.
This gave me a new level of confidence. I was told that if I wanted to be good edit on release wasn't the wave but here's the person I watch making it work.I am a controller player pretty good but need to work on my fighting
no man if you are on controller use double edit binds not many good controller pros use edit on release becuase with double edit binds you can edit the same speed in a real game but have better crosshair placment and stuff
Not too many players on controller use edit on release. You can still be good on it though. AssualtSZN uses it and he was on top for a minute. He’s still a demon and has super good mechs
I turned it off last year, took couple of months to rewite the muscle memory but that was worth it, no regrets it gives you SO MUCH MORE opportunities to trick your opponents, even 0 ping players
honestly, I was scared that I would have to turn off edit on release because of the bad peeks point, but now that you said that there's very few situations where you have to hold edits, it makes me feel way better about it, thanks bro!!
Correction, they changed it to where starting an edit is 100% client side meaning lag doesn't affect it, jts confirming that does, you can make the same mistake on hard 0 ping in creative Also my thought on edit on release if anyone is curious: I played with it on for literal years and while I did enjoy it, after a while I started messing around with it off again out of boredom. And I found some real reasons that make off better (I have full switched and it's been over a month and I'm so much better). Now, it's not the setting itself that will make you better, but the habits you build. When I turned it off I had to FORCE myself to be more consistent as you can't spam edits the same way, it will cost you if you miss an edit and you'll have to make a higher iq play instead of just being fast (which can drag fights out) so I focused on my consistency. The only thing I don't love is how double edits feel (specifically 1 tile cone floor) as I states earlier you just can't spam edits the same way. Though it hadn't made me slower by any means as I can still crank multiple triple edits and a quad edit once in a while (I am also a 60hz player lol makes these things a little bit harder, though not a lot) also with the peek thing I do find it useful to hold an edit, especially if I have someone cracked and full boxed, it let's me take a smart and protective peek while they're scared and I almosy never take damage and always win the trade
@@radicalsaled5756 ok, serious question, do you know what you're talking about? Have you done ANY research? Hz matter by A LOT. You physically cannot see anything above 60fps on 60hz. This works flawless with Edit On Release. Make right click both EDIT and RESET (ADS I made middle mouse click). So I right click to edit then instantaneously left click. Those of us who play percussion call it a diddle. 😮
Tbh i switched to edit release off and imma re switch to on cuz when i ever wanna peak they just break the wall and boom im dead but i was constant on hitting flicks so im gonna re switch it both are optimal u can choose whatever
@JivanTV, thanks for another great video. Is there a video where you show all the optimal peaking scenarios with these orbs in Raider's map? I personally know it is one of my weaknesses, I often don't know what approach would be the best in a particular situation to piece up my opponent behind the cover, so I hesitate... and, usually lose because of that. Even when I run these edit courses with bots who punish me for bad peaks, I'm often unclear what was the correct approach that I need to master. I feel like if someone created a video where you cover all possible locations of opponent and the right way to peak, I think it would be a big hit. There's a lot of videos that kind of touch on the subject but none that covers all or at least most of situations.
I played on eor on since it came out too and i got really good with it but in comp i realised how bad it made my peaks and how i could be utilising eor off more if i just learnt it, i noticed improvements straight away with my peaks and timing but going from being able to do most retakes easily to just being able to do triple edits was hard, it took me a good few months to get back up to speed with building and retakes but it was definitely worth it for me.
I'd rather keep edit on release because I don't want to have to press double to amount of buttons than I already do. My controller breaks within 3 months cause of the amount of edits I do
Hi jivan today was My first time trying keyboard and mouse it's pretty hard and I don't know what to do and I also wanted to ask how to get better at it
instead of pulling out ur pickaxe to cancel and edit u could use confirm edit on release off and not risk peaking which put u at advantage of getting the first hit but u have to get ur timing down which make pros more consistent with their edits
i've been trying to get better mechs on edit on release for a few weeks, and i havent been seeing much improvement. This video really helped me out, thanks!
One tip: i used to have build and edit on circle (I play on ps4), and you had to hold down the circle for a little bit in order to edit. This slowed me down while trying to do double edits. I recommend binding switch mode to left joystick and keeping edit in circle (like my man Kenbeans recommends)
i play on console and its hard to learn these things because of the fps, would you reccomend me to keep playing arena and try to work on these things or play creative?(also i play keyboard on it)
bro play creative until ur mechs are crispy and then grind arena 24/7 u will be a beast fighter , and dont worry about the console fps thing i know a guy that plays on ps4 kbm that is a better fighter than noahreyli and he legit has like 24k earnings and he is getting 50k+ arena points every single season
Being 20 doesn’t make you a boomer, I’m quick and play double claw/keyboard. Edit on release definitely is easier on keyboard but I noticed my edit reactions are so much faster without edit on release on controller. It’s so silly how old the toxic kids on the game make 20 year olds feel haha, me and my friends find it amusing all the time.
2:04 That cone flip doesn't work for me I use the same reset edit binds as you and the second I hit the right click reset it instantly confirms it and resets the cone what am I doing wrong?
5:58 this isn't the right reason, as you stated in the begining of the vid the edit selection is client based; if you fail an edit in a high ping/high server lag lobby it's most likely because you tried starting the edit before the server registered a build being placed or any other action that needs a server confirmation (a first edit, a shot...). otherwise you're first tip would be useless for comp practice, which it isn't also you should try double edit binds! you get the benefits of edit on release not having to spam your edit key twice on each edit, and you get the control of single edit.
