中國樂壇，除了原創音樂，不少是中詞西曲，而歐西樂壇，甚少西詞中曲，回顧歷史，只有三個例外。
第一首西詞中曲，就是陳歌辛的《玫瑰玫瑰我愛你》，改成 Frankie Laine 1951 的Rose Rose I Love You。

Tsai Chin 周采芹 的 Ding Dong Song。此曲為英國舞台劇《蘇絲黃的世界》歌曲，流傳歐美。這舞台劇更改編成荷李活電影 The world of Suzie Wong，可惜Ding Dong Song 未有成為電影插曲。

三位音樂大師，只有姚敏不相信共主黨，逃離到香港，另外兩位選擇相信，黎錦光留在强国，陳歌辛則棄香港回流上海，結果下場悲慘。
陳歌辛活生被餓死，再被棄屍亂葬崗，其妻未能尋回屍首。黎錦光被文革折磨半死， 諷刺是，罪名原是反動親日的他，因李香蘭唱了他多首名曲，紅遍日本，文革後，中共利用他拉關係，搖身變成友好中日橋樑。

雄霸五,六十年代樂壇的《姚敏》（1917年11月－1967年3月30日），原名姚振民，筆名梅翁、周萍等，寧波人，出生於上海，中國作曲家。
姚敏自幼喪父，家貧，失學。先後做過雜貨店學徒、海員等。從小喜音樂，天性敏慧，勤奮好學，學會拉胡琴、唱京戲。一個偶然機會，結識日本作曲家服部良一，隨其學作曲。與孿生胞妹姚莉等人常到電台演唱，後進百代唱片公司開始作曲生涯。
1950年，姚敏移居香港，繼續音樂工作，50年代中後期，事業達巔峰期，佳作連連。如《三年》、《情人的眼淚》、《總有一天等到你》、《我有一段情》、《神祕女郎》、《良夜不能留》、《雪山盟》、《第二春》等，像這樣膾炙人口的曲子不勝枚舉，至今仍被後輩歌手廣為翻唱。其中《第二春》還被英國舞台劇《蘇絲黃的世界》改編成英文歌曲，流傳歐美。
1959年和1961年，姚敏分別獲得亞洲影展最佳音樂獎及金馬獎最佳音樂獎等，成為當時香港炙手可熱的首席流行歌曲作曲家。姚敏的歌，唱紅了幾代歌星：從周璇到李香蘭、葛蘭、靜婷、潘秀瓊，再到鄧麗君、麗莎、奚秀蘭、鳳飛飛、費玉清等。

If you have been or lived in Hong Kong you will love seeing this movie so much of HK looks the same I loved the ferry ride its still as it was then amazing , this is a wonderful movie both William Holden and Nancy Kwan are fantastic i would really recommend this for a good nights entertainment .

Very special in many ways . It makes me homesick for a country I'm not even from . Nothing like Hong Kong, such a special place . I just hope down the road it's going to be possible to repay a visit.
Best remembered first impression of HK was from watching World of Suzie Wong. Current Movie Producer/Director couldnt and never could meet up to the mastery, classy and grandiouse of past Producer/Directors. Thank God, our generation enjoyed the best of the Movie world then.

1960 my first time in Hong Kong---the memories come flooding back!,
Tsai Chin's voice had fully expressed the emotion of this song . She had sung her heart out and comforted many Chinese men who had to seek jobs far away to feed their families during that era . Thank you Miss Tsai Chin , really appreciate it . We are still listening to your song, your voice .
However 董佩佩 had interpreted it very nicely in Chinese with her typical beautiful Chinese female singer's voice which reminds me that part of Chinese history .

When I was in high school. One of my American class mate shared with me that last weekend he watched this movie. He likes the actress dancing with a young navy in short Chi Pou. HK is still introduced to the world together with this movie always.
She was the most beautiful actress then and she had never gotten any plastic surgery!

好可惜，唱英文那部份的歌手不夠水準，令這首如此出色的歌曲未能在國際樂壇上大放異彩，真的十分替姚敏可惜。唱中文那部份肯定是董佩佩，她演繹得很好，直得一讚。
