This movie along with The Road to El Dorado (2000), Treasure Planet (2002) and Sinbad The Legend of the Seven Seas (2003) are real gems that doesn't deserve to be forgotten
You watch this movie as a kid and it blows you away, gets your imagination going, etc. You rewatch it as a teenager and you suddenly realize Kida is very, very attractive for a 2d animated character. You rewatch it as an adult, and you get jealous of the Atlantean healthcare system.
This, as well as Disney Dinosaur (2000) and Treasure Planet (2002) are probably the most underrated and unfortunately forgotten childhood classics that I hope you’ll be able to watch soon
In times of war, the crystall called on one person of royal descent or from the royal family, to sacrifice themselves to help the crystal defend the city. It didnt recognized anyone else. That's why both Kida's mother and Kida, was chosen during Rorkes betrayal of Atlantis!
Underrated Disney classic. I can still remember the advertisements on television when I was like 8-9 yo. Also, shoutout to James Garner as Rourke. He made his name as a Hollywood Hero, so to be so convincing as a Disney Villain shows the level of ability he had.
Film fact: Tobey Maguire and Jason Schwartzman were considered to voice Milo Thatch. Both ended up playing in Marvel movies in separate Spider-Man productions. Maguire in the OG trilogy and Schwartzman in Accross the Spider-Verse.
This movie is like a fun adventure to explore. Many many good old-school jokes which are lost like the Atlantis are there in the movie. There was not a single second to be bored. Might be in my top ten fav Disney movies list.
You should hear the jokes of the french version because that's very funny. For example : after Helga told to Cookie about the lettuce, he says " Lettuce ? What's these salads ? " (I don't know if it's the same in english but in France, the word " salad " also refers to nonsense)
@@a.g.demada5263 I doubt the jokes would be understood when not speaking French. The German version also had a very good dub, they gave Mrs Packard a Berlin accent and translated some of her jokes in a more suitable way.
Thanks for the reaction ladies 😀 I know you get probably 1 million recommendations for movies but if I could recommend any animated movie to watch next it would be Prince of Egypt 🙂❤
This is the first time I noticed the king said they kill any outsiders who see the city! So explorers may have made it there in the past but weren't allowed to live. You'd think they'd have let a few guys make it back to tell people to stop sending expeditions.
After that you can watch Anastasia 1997 and Titan A.E. - great adult cartoons in the same style. By the way, Vicky has great reactions, I think I understand her reactions perfectly - when she is acting not genuine and when her reactions are true ones (the best of them are in JoJo rabbit)
Not that I am dying a live action remake because I think this holds up and doesn't need one, but I feel like this could be a good one if instead of a live action movie they remade it as a live action Disney+ series. Each episode could open up with a flashback to the past in Atlantis' history (i.e., premiere opens with Atlantis sinking, second episode opens with the deleted/alternate opening of a Viking crew being attacked by the Leviathan, etc.). This could not only expand the run time but it could give some cool bit of lore to the city and expedition and it could explain some things the movie did not (i.e., what happened to Milo's granddad/why wouldn't he tell Milo immediately he found the Journal).
Thadeaus (Milo's grandfather) died only because of his old âge. But I don't know if a live action, even as a serie, could recreate the magic of this movie
Lia, that color looks beautiful on you! Great reaction, ladies. When Viki said she loves white hair, it reminded me of when she had those cool white braid-in extensions. If you like this, you'll LOVE the movie Fern Gully. Robin Williams is in it, he plays a fruit bat.
"The Island at the Top of the World" (1974) live-actin Disney film. Very similar in many ways to this animated movie; I wouldn't be surprised if the Disney folks took that film from the previous generation as a big inspiration when developing this animated story. It's a little cheesy in spots, but well worth a watch.
There are also some elements that remind very much of different works of Anime - too many to be just coincidence. Mostly "Nadia: Secret of Blue Water" (Girl with a blue crystal, travelling on a submarine, Nemo style) and "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" (Also blue crytsals and stone Robots protecting the city) Kida wearing a mask reminds me of "Princess Mononoke". It seems Disney tried to get their feet into more Young Adult fiction here. But I like this movie very much, more than most other Disney works. It is a little darker than their fairy tales.
Hey, I have a movie request for you guys to react to. "Of mice and men" It's a 1992 film with John Malkovich. I think you guys will really like it. Please do a review on this movie. I'm a subscriber, I love your reactions. Keep up the good work!!
The language thing always annoyed me until i realized the cristal may be taking knowledge from all minds and sharing it with them; a root language wouldn't generate the same languages as we have!!!

here here completely agree.
Amen to that
Yup
Seriously. The best animated adventure films.
If you want to go live action then watch Galaxy Quest, Hook and Flight of the Navigator (better than E.T).

Yess Dinosaur is so good but seems to have been forgotten
And for good reason too. It’s BORING!!!!
I second this
I admire Milo's humility that the world doesn't need another hero and takes the job in Atlantis for an expert in giberish.

As a Hollywood Western Hero, in point of fact. Hence his line about "preferring a good western himself."
This plus Treasure Planet are my favourites and most underrated, under appreciated Disney movies.
Treasure planet is the greatest of all-time of Walt Disney

Underrated Film.
Don't forget treasure planet
The Hidden Gem to Disney’s Ultimate Attention. I totally recommend Treasure Planet
Treasure planet that is my favorite walt Disney of all time everybody keep saying is underrated
I just love the way how Vicky looks. She's so cute
I love Atlantis: The Lost Empire as a teen. I was so blown away by this, the first Disney Sci-Fi Action film.
You should watchbit in french because some lines are funnier (like Mrs Packard's when she's on the phone)

Probably my favorite Disney movie. And as a veteran, my favorite line is definitely "Who's not dead? Sound off!"

The actor who played the Scrounger in the Great Escape (and helped the Blind guy escape,) was the guy who voice Rourke, the bad guy in this film.
Forgot Michael J. Fox voiced the lead in this. Marty from Back to The Future.
Lia you are so good at the introductions to the videos, you've come a long way!!!! My favorite female Homie, Larry is still KING!!!
This was the only movie I ever got a videogame from out of a cereal box as kid..... honeycomb to be exact lol it came with a lil blue cool spoon
It was a good movie. You might also like Hunchback of Notre Dame. Its one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. The soundtrack is great.
It truly captures the imagination. I was 8 when it first came out. I was on the edge of my seat.

This is my favorite Disney animated film along with A Goofy Movie. And you both look stunning as always 🔥🔥
there's a tv sequel to this dubbed "milo's return" as well if you didn't know.

The film was ahead of its time. If it had been released today it would have been a hit. Change my mind 😅😂
Atlantis: The Lost Empire is my treasure movie. Recommend that almost based on this movie: Castle in the Sky
12:91 The look on Lia's face here lol. "You need to ride like a bi........... Never mind."
i only knew a few years ago Leonard Nimoy played Kira's dad in this 🖖🖖🖖
Great pick, one of my childhood movies.
Now do Treasure Planet and Miyazaki movies !
