Loved this conversation & I have a few points to say.
1. Tithing is not a requirement to the 21st century Christian’s. Because we are not born under the law.
2. Jesus and disciples never taught tithing and never even practiced it
3. Malachi is not so much addressed to the people of Israel, who apparently were doing a good job of bringing their tithes and offerings to the storehouse, but to the wicked and wayward priests, and specifically Eliashib.
4. Abraham was blessed even before he gave tithe to Melchizedek & it was not from his income also it’s not recorded anywhere else that he practiced tithing.
5. Tithing has nothing to do with money but scripture says A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, not “money”
6. I agree with giving its a principal.
I fell like its always controversial to talk about the finished works of christ along side the laws or principles of giving.
There is always a question of was it really finished at the cross if I have to give seeds to get more?
If I have to tithe to prevent the devourer from attacking my business ,then am I saying that Jesus did not do it all there is a part he left for the money to do.
Giving is a very deep topic that we need to be careful. Jesus says we should give freely and cheerfully and that is the one I believe in .
I do give in church but not lawfully. I listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
All of those giving that have a name attached is manipulative And if we accept that Jesus death did it all then no amount of money can command a blessing. No money can quicken or show how bad I want a blessing.
If I struggle with a disease and give money to destroy the disease am saying Jesus is not my all there is a part that money play.
So in short I believe people should give in church or into the kingdom for only one motive,for the growth,furtherance and flourishing of the gospel.
Giving to pastors or any other person is okey when you are appreciating them supporting them and encouraging their call. But not as seeds, breaking altar,etc .
Jesus broke all altars. He is that seed that the bible says should die and he did that .
In conclusion giving should be freely and cheerfully and its only motive is for growth flourish and furtherance of the gospel of Jesus christ. Period.❤
