We were getting ready to watch the Matrix while eating lunch a while back, and my 14 yo daughter asked me where she could find a spoon. I told her there was no spoon
She got really annoyed with me about 90 minutes later when she realized I'd set her up

That part at the Oracle, where she says something like, "You're waiting for something. I don't know, your next life, maybe." And it's true: he has to die before Trinity kisses him alive again and he comes back as The One. Very cool point.

I was 13 when I watched the Matrix for the first time in '99 at the cinema and I can confirm that action and sci-fi movies weren't going to be the same after this one anymore. I dare to say that nothing can be compared to The Matrix yet. Thank you for your enjoyable reaction.

This movie blew my mind into smithereens back then, not only the stunts and special effects, but also the foreboding message. Don't be a slave to technology! I'm glad you enjoyed this amazing film! By the way, Trinity is the codename of the first nuclear test. You don't want to mess with a girl who chose this as a nickname!

This was filmed in Australia, and that scene with Neo and Morpheus hanging from the bottom of the helicopter was filmed live over Sydney's city centre. It made national news.
Also I remember watching this in cinemas, and on the way out everyone was running their hands over the backs of their necks, totally freaked out.
Also also, Hugo Weaving also played V in "V for Vendetta", he was specifically selected for that role where he wore a mask the entire time, because of his performance in this, where he showed he could emote with no or minimal facial expression.

I love this movie! I went to see it in the theater when it came out. This was, of course, before the time of Twitter and Facebook and really Social Media for the most part, so I had no idea what the movie was about. Hadn't even seen a trailer. It was so wonderful experiencing it completely fresh. I wish I could see it for the first time again.

DUDE, you've just entered The Matrix!
Before Keanu Reeves was cast as Neo, Will Smith was considered to play the character, but turned it down to star in WILD WILD WEST, which he still regrets to this day.
Val Kilmer, Nicolas Cage, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio were considered for the role.
Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Goldman, Russell Crowe and Sean Connery were considered for Morpheus until Laurence Fishburne was cast.
Sandra Bullock, Jada Pinkett Smith, Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez, and Rosie Perez were considered for Trinity.

In recent years, Madonna has said that one of her very few regrets in the industry world is turning down the role of Trinity which she was one of the first choices for as the Wachowski’s were big fans and thought it would be great chance to show her acting skills. As Madonna said, looking at the script for it, the film really didn’t make much sense at the time which is why she turned it down. She thought it was going to bomb. Who knew.

The only thing we disagree on is that Hugo Weaving will be forever Agent Smith for me! 😅 The Lord of the Rings saw light after the Matrix, when I watched it and saw Elrond, I instantly said "Agent Smith!". For sure many people will tell you the fourth movie is bad but don't listen. Maybe it's not justified but it's entertaining, just enjoy it 😊 Great video as always guys, much love!

There was a lawsuit by Sophia Stewart, who claimed that her work "The Third Eye" which she submitted to the Wachowski's, was stolen and made into both The Terminator, and Matrix
movies, which she claims are one long combined story. She sued and lost, then sued again, and won $316,280. I do think it's interesting to think of the two trilogies as one narrative.
Of course there have been other movies added to the franchise since then.

    • @ObsessiveSting
      @ObsessiveSting 4 месяца назад

Of note is that the second suit was in 2014 against her own lawyers for failing to advise her during the previous suit. She never won any case against the Wachowski's and no evidence exists she did.

Every now and then, throughout the ages, some creators tap into an idea that is transcendent and more dynamic than they realize and end up speaking truth to the human soul in ways they didn't know was possible or that they were even doing. IMO, the Matrix is the result of such an idea.
My deceased step-father was a Pastor. When this movie came out I'm told that he played the video for his congregation because the parallels and correlations between the story of Neo, the Matrix and multiple facets of Christianity and the development of the spiritually reborn believer in a fallen world were so strong that he used it as a teaching tool. I would have done the same.

In the line of sequels, there is also the Animatrix. An animated series of shorts. One of them linked the movie to the game. Each story displayed different art styles in animation, each adding more to the story behind the Matrix. Still, doesn't clear everything up from the symbolism, and computer terms.

Here is a not-so-much-said fact. Matrix /the Wachowski Brothers, now sisters... had its inspiration from Hindu religious Philosophy. To be precise it is closer to Buddhism because The wachowski's were practicing Buddhism at that time I think.. But the general concept was based on Hinduism as Buddhism is an offshoot of Hinduism.
In the "hated" matrix 3 credit song(in the Indian Sanskrit language, it's like an official language for prayers):
Navras - The Matrix Revolutions, the first few lines of the song-
    Asato Ma Sadgamaya
    Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya
    Mrityor Ma Amrutangamaya
    Om Shanti Shanti Shanti Heem
    More or less translation,
Lead us from unreal to real
Lead us from darkness to light
Lead us from the fear of death to the knowledge of our immortality
Let there be Peace, Peace, Peace …
