Everyone has their influences. Sure Cobain inspired a lot of song writers and musicians, but don't think for a minute he was "original". Not saying I dont enjoy a nirvana song every once in a while, but they were just another garage/grunge band in an era overflowing with them. Besides, he had his influences too. Nothing is original. Time to get over it. What's sad though is the only reason Cobain is held in such high regard is because he died before he had to chance to release a bad album. People are immortalizing a pathetic druggie who committed suicide just because he wrote a few half decent songs? Please keep telling me how cool Cobain was.
Oh... sorry. I didn't think you wouldn't actually have anything to back up your argument about how a drug addict that suicided was cool. Didn't mean to put you on the spot.
LOL Cobain did not invent grunge. He was one of the people who popularized it as a mainstream genre. As far as innovation goes, that's it. Grunge was around since the early 80s dude. Nirvana didn't even form til 87. Though Cobain was part of the scene before that, he didn't invent it. Grunge's roots were a fusion between punk rock garage bands and 70s black metal like Sabbath. Sure Cobain had style, he had talent at times too. But he's only a 90s rock icon because he died in his prime. How many other successful grunge artists are still notably in the public eye? None of them really. If he was still around he'd have fallen off the radar years ago. People would say "Kurt who?? Oh. that guy who was married to Courtney Love? Sang for some band or something?"
@Dagger1610 Well, that is your opinion, so i suppose I can't argue with that, though i do like TDG. I just can't stand the amount of screaming in BFMV's songs.....
