I think below the examples will clear your doubt...
Example: She would rather have spent the money on a vacation. (it means she didn’t spend the money on a vacation in the past). ఆమె vacation లో ఆమె money ని ఖర్చు చేయవలసింది ( కానీ ఆమె money ని ఖర్చు చేయలేదు )
And
here you have to know the two differences...
1) It's quite cold here (positive )
ఇక్కడ కాస్త చల్లగా ఉంది ( బాగుంది అని చెప్పడానికి )
2) It's rather cold here ( negative )
ఇక్కడ కాస్త చలిగా ఉంది (ఇబ్బంది గా ఉంది అని చెప్పడానికి )
