Chinese men seem to think it is their right and especially when the wife is pregnant. The wife can still have sex unless in very rare cases she has been told no. I am sick of seeing the same drama it's the same script nearly which is a shame because Chinese period dramas are phenomenal.
Sadly they come from a patriarchal society when the men had a few wives and concubines as a norm. Even with the legal enforcement of only 1 wife, the old habits and ideas are hard to stop. Which man doesn’t need an excuse to womanize and have love affairs?
