Tom Bombadil is the ultimate mysterious character in Tolkien’s writing. Tom and his origins are completely unknown, but he claims to have existed throughout the entire history of Arda (the world) he has the power to control all things around him, and seemingly has knowledge of all the goings on in Middle Earth (he’s even immune to the effects of the one ring) Some have theorised that Tom may even be Tolkien inserting himself into his stories, but he’s the ultimate unknown in pretty much every way.
