This is better than 90% of the drifting content on RUclips. Its a perfect example of what drifitng is about, run what ya brung get out there and have a blast! Well done sir!
That's absolutely spectacular. Very impressed with this Aussie 308. I thought like a lot of others you might be running a 350 chev. And 278 rear wheel horsepower is really too notch 👌👍💪
I had all those problems when I took my Tank Fairlane to the track too . Power steering doesn't like being spun that fast . I modified the water pump pulley with a small pulley welded on just in front of the vee for the water pump vee , then powered steering pump from there now power steering spins half the speed problem solved 😊. Modified the rocker cover too to stop blowing oil out of breather . Nothing like a day at the track to find those little short comings, you just can't find that stuff on the street . Happy motoring
Contrary to popular belief the extra weight makes them a bit more predictable, as long as you got the horses to get yourself out the hole you just got yourself into lol
man that was fkng brilliant. What's with the warnings from the officials? Seeing cars like yours being driven like that would be the highlight of any event. Well done sir. Well done.
It was spinning out twice in 2 laps and a passenger arm out the window. I wasn't the only one so I wasn't to concerned but it is hard to not spin out when pushing a car to its limits especially a boat. But I didn't tear up any grass or track edges which was a solid effort, I just spun on the tarmac.
I loved every second of that. Takes me back to the good bad ol days when these tanks were the daily ride. PS is for wimps lol Nothin better than hitting a nice curve with the L43 singing at 4 1/2 and you got all 4 wheels throwing smoke :P Mind you I had to go back and pick my 🎱s up off the bitumen a few times from clenching my B cheeks too hard lol
I had an HJ the same color running a 350 Chev. Looked exactly the same because I would run the Stock rims to avoid attention. The stock tyres used to blow off about the same amount of smoke above 60% throttle 😂. Sorry about the rear quarter. That's a more difficult repair than it first appears.
@@borismcfinnigan3430 yeah foot to the floor it just spins tyres as well haha, but its on pretty wide tyres for traction so if i give it a rolling start it just goes
Possible flat tops to up the compression ratio, Genie 4 into 1 tuned, riser manifold with a tricked 780 Rochester, some port and valve work and HD rods and lifters all topped off with a 35/75 high flow cam and you have a tank that will make smoke in at least 1st and 2nd, and maybe even 3rd on a fast drift through a traumatic :P > Just an educated guess from listening to it and watching it.

I’ve never driven SMP just Queensland tracks and Raleigh. Firstly it’s cool you like drifting but there is a reason you get a hard time from organisers. Actually super annoying when people who bring unsuitable cars and waste track time by spinning and dropping fluids on track. Also these cars really slow down start line queues too because no one will be able to tandem with this car. Honestly drifters want to be helpful and will give rides to people who want to have a fun experience on track who don’t have a car, and we aren’t worried about aesthetics so Nothing wrong with trying to drift a old school car just need to work out the basics of suspension and steering so that you don’t piss off other people who paid for track time. In Qld you actually have to qualify at a beginner event for more serious events so that only suitable cars can enter.
This event is different, there are no start line queues and its drift & drive. Everyone goes out and the idea is to let the faster cars overtake you and to not slow anyone up. I wouldn't take it back again like it is so this is really a one off for it, reason being mainly it doesn't have enough hp, it is on the slow side and the power steering pump is garbage. The tyres used play a huge part in how unstable it is and I needed the tiny 185 tyres on the back otherwise I wouldn't have been able to even get it to turn tyres. I can go all day in the other car without spinning out it just needs decent rear tyres fitted and actually has the hp to drive them.

@@vxcommodorewagon3.8 the attitude of the "car scene" lies within your comment. You laugh as though 40k is just nothing... To hell with drifting. Promotes anti social behaviour, pollutes the atmosphere, no skill required, just being stupid is sufficient. It's as much of a sport as lawn bowls. I hope it's banned for ever.

And the thing pollution, the difference this makes too global warming is so minor i cant even put it into words, if you care that much about the climate what you could do is just off yourself 😁 (that's the nicest way I can put it) and that 1 less person will put a lot less c02 into the atmosphere then these guys are adding to it having fun, cheers
