The actual rift waker fires so fast that after the average combat ends it continues firing for 20-60 seconds. If it wasn't so difficult to get it would be overpowered
Congrats on the dope win, Spearmintz. You're really getting into the flow of Multiverse, doing runs and unlocking ships at a more steady pace. I think the choice is down to either the Federation ship or the Hektar ship, since the other unlocks this run were boarding ships.
Just FYI, if the enemy ship is defeated and there is no hazard, the teleporter recall has no cooldown. It's a nice quality of life thing. Congrats on the run, a lot of unlocks were had. Now that you have Hektar A, there is the unlock "quest" for one of the other layouts (namely killing Sylvan's crew using the A layout). It's actually achievable with not a lot of RNG involved since you can use the store augment to build yourself the appropriate loadout.
Even with the right loadout, fighting Sylvan can always go wrong. If you manage to get a Zoltan shield, cloaking and hacking it is completely free tough, since cloaking a volley and hacking right before the following fires keeps his weapons down indefinetly, while the zoltan shield prevents boarding, hacking and mind control alltogether. But yeah, I built a set of 2 anti-bio fire missiles for that job, and it was hilarious.
Awesome seeing you trying out some different strategies. You still have a ways to go before you master boarding (seeing that crystal relegated to the shield room when it could be locking enemies out of a room while you take down systems hurts, man) but major props for continuing to use it when appropriate instead of just letting your guns to all the work as soon as you got a halfway-decent weapon setup.
While, yes, it is a gunship by the end, I think he did a pretty good job of diversifying this run. Jokes aside, he continued to use boarding when appropriate even into the final fight instead of ignoring the teleporter as soon as he got decent weapons, and the Vulcan-style weapons are definitely outside the wheelhouse of his normal play.
Remember that’s only the Mk 0.5. Sylvan’s Vulcan is WAY stronger. It’s amazing when you get it.

The only rng is being able to fight Sylvan lol since he sometimes spawns too far in sector 8 to reach.
I'm pretty sure that unlock is going to be changed soon tho, so I wouldn't really try it
