- Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced the date of the UK General Election.
In a speech outside 10 Downing Street in London, he revealed that the election date will take place on Thursday, 4 July.
He had widely been expected to announce an autumn election, but Wednesday's news comes after mounting speculation.

Have stood in front of 10 Downing Street in 1996 in London, UK, just an amazing experience way back then.
Unfortunately I was unborn or a baby back then so I wasn't sentient enough to experience the last time. The UK was actually good.
yeah, the weather has changed a lot, way back in May 1996 the weather was a bit cold, but recently some people I know visited UK in May, it was extremely hot.
In 1996 there was no London Eye, got one of the best pictures of the LONDON BRIDGE, not a single wax statue of Indian actors in Madame Tussaud’s, 30 years is a very long time,28 years ago ……..
In April and May , Niagara Falls was frozen, picked ice from the Niagara River in Buffalo city in the New York State, Iskon temple in West Virginia across the Appalachian Mountains was a treat ,although cold then Srinivasa temple in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania,was amazing, got to eat Temple food on weekends, and loved the 3 Sisters bridge in Pittsburgh.
Had travelled to USA as well in 1996, almost 10 states in the USA ,had travelled based in Pittsburgh ,Pennsylvania. Nowadays climate has changed for sure .
and yet we cant get a dentist, struggle to get doctor appts, wait 12 hours for a ambulance to turn up, list goes on and yet immigrants crossing over are being put in lovely hotels. It is no wonder the public are fed up.
