Really good. 73yo 4.5 player who now has broken right humerus, out for 3 months. Will work on my left hand to develop a 2 handed backhand: best tutorial!! Thanks
These are really helpful tips--they describe what makes a backhand feel more "natural." My forehand comes easy to me but my backhand has always confused me. Your descriptions of when to think about each hand, and when not to, are helpful.
Good stuff! The last years I was looping the racquet á la Agassi but it was erratic although backhand used to be my strongest strike. Half a year ago I wen’t back to the basics (since age has made me stiffer), i.e. the take-back you’re showing, and my backhand immediately improved. Keep it simple. Next it’d be great to see serve tips, both first and second serves. If possible it’d be great with slow motion clips.
Really nice and FRESH approach to using the double backhand. I allways struggled with my backhand. Since I tried to imitate Kyrgios doubleshanded backhand it works way better than the "Let the racket drop bla bla " approach. Im not saying I can hit a backhand like Kyrgios but it is more relaxed for me now and I play more intuitive and that makes me more focused on where to aim the ball instead of constantly thinking HOW to hit a proper backhand. Thanks for the other tips!!
Yeah it definitely depends what you want from your backhand, but if you hit it like Kyrgios you'll have a stable low backhand that you can consistently hit until you get another forehand. Dropping the racquet and whipping it (like Sinner) creates more power, but it's harder to time and not optimal for most.
@@tijgertjekonijnwordopgegeten Yes I have a hard time timing it right. For aiming I just push with my lefthand. But most of the time I just run around my backhand and use my best stroke, my forehand :D
The video I didn't know I was hoping for. I've noticed that your takeback is really simple, and I've sometimes considered adopting that approach, so I'm glad you explained your rationale behind it!
i switched from one hand to two handed backhand like 3 years ago and now my two hand is a solid weapon/shot! i've actually been messing around recently and hitting my one handed backhand again for fun and am surprised i can switch between the both of them during a rally. but no, i would never go back to a one handed backhand, two handed backhand master race ;)
Just wanted to confirm that tip no3 is the most important one for sure. Coaches sometimes start with too much focus on arms and even hands and wrists in order to create spiny two handed backhand, which is very good longterm but its the next step and not the start. Fix your arms and focus on your body rotation, even exagarate and stiffen your arms and wrists so that only body can do the work. Once you feel that your backhans is rock solid stable, implement your wrist motions slowly but now when you do it, your body will still be doing the work and you wont be just "scratching" the ball. Trust Grisha on this one, tip 3 is by far the most important for beginers!
Really interesting. For a few months now, I've been feeling my backhand to be kinda "off", I just don't feel at ease playing it, altough I don't make that many mistakes using it. Will try to apply these tips.
Nice racket 🤩 When are you playing your next tournament? And more tutorial please... Maybe forehand 😆 I know the first thing you will say is your forehand is not that great but ofcourse it's much superior than us
Here are the tips with some added notes I would recommend 1. Hit the ball in front and from hip to under shoulder level(weight always forward) 2. Make the backswing simple (turn your torso first) 3. Use your body (the follow through doesn't mean just your arm, it means follow through with your entire body towards the shot) 4. Forget about your dominant arm (the dominant arm needs to relax so you can get the racquet lag) 5. Use your non-dominant arm for micro adjustments and flat shots 6. Work on your wrist movements for shorter court shots. 7. Use your backhand the right way
Awesome tutorial! I've been wanting to hit my backhand more like how you do for a while now. This definitely will help! I would ask for a forehand one next, but maybe we should leave that one to Kuzey 😂
Isn’t the dominant arm the left arm with which you use the wrist so to say with the lag and snap and the front right arm is for guiding the ball. Loved your video. Slightly confused with this point though.
Cool!! I’ve admired your backhand and this will help. But what’s the deal: Prestige Pro now? Or Gravity Pro? Did you switch? Why? I like both but settled on the Gravity Pro.
Would you do a bideo on return of serve especially returnign fast serves and returning slice out wide and how it digferes in groundstrokes for how to move to ball
Imo talent is underlooked when It comes to a persons' better side. I just always felt my backhand is a killer and my forehand sucks for my entire tennis jorney and no coaching ever changed that
Гриша, я вижу - ты в Мегаспорте ролик записал ) - Я там больше 10 лет играю и два дня назад провел матч именно на том корте, на котором ты записываешь ролик, корт №5 ))) Надо было пересечься ))
I watched this video and now my driver's license says my name is Marat Safin
That's the result I was looking for, let's goooo!!
After this video I am running a round my forehand to hit backhands 🔥
Hahahahahah that's the way!!! 😂😂

Hi, you didn’t mention the forehand and backhand grip in your videos😢
Great tutorial! I can't wait to see the next one in another two years 🫶
Hahaahahahaa exactly 😂😂
😱🤣😂
I asked for this, because your backhand is so good. I will implement these great tips. Thank you.
Grisha you are the best youtuber i ever watched
Omg thanks a lot hahahaha

Not sure what's better, the tips or the creative camera angles

My pleasure!
As a more advanced player but with a weak two hander I found this very useful, thanks.
That's great! Thank you!
Nice tips ✊🏻 sometimes I really need a reminder that I play tennis with my body not only with my arms
Thank you!
Thank you! Always happy to help!

GRISHAAAAAAAA is backkk! You have a beautiful backhand! When I want to improve my backhand, I watch Grisha, not Novak!

I struggle with the contact point on my backhand. Will try to simplify the backswing like you suggested.
Awesome, hope it helps!
What racquet is that!?! A possible switch or just having some fun with something different?
Nonono not switching! Check out the previous video to find out what it is 🫣😉
Great video! I'm going to try a two hander now. Any chance you do a video for a one hander to?
Hahaahahahaa that would be a funny one 😂

Больше уроков! Хороших и разных!

Dude, what shorts are you wearing 👌 oh and nice backhand 💥
Head prestige tuor 2018 - what your opinion about this racket?
Great lesson, but I'm sticking with my one-handed backhand.
Fair enough!
Yeah man
awesome, why do some players say it's a pull with the right and a push with the left though?
What racquet is he using now?
What is your racquet?
me: YAY GLAD UPLOAD
me 5 seconds late: oh a 2 handed backhand :c
Please make a forehand video and I will give you a cookie
Hahahahahahahhah Thank you!! Will do!
@@gladiatorstribe
nice video forehand next???
Maybe maybe!
How much racquet lag in the 2-hander? (I got a one-hander so this is more curiosity)
Any comment about the one-hander?
What racket is that also what strings
Interesting how the racquet just points up from you moving your body into the shot 2:20
What racquet is this?
That Youtek IG Prestige MP LTD 25th Anniversary is sexy a.f, oh and your backhand :-)
Awww... The only reason I clicked on the thumbnail was because I thought Grisha switched out his racket to an old Fischer racket.
Kafelnikov, Safin and now Grisha. Russian school of killer backhand. 😁
Hahahahahaha let's gooo!!
DId grisha change rackets?
Nono hahaha
@@gladiatorstribe I was curious about that too! What racket is that?
Looks like the ig Prestige 25 year
I have been told to have space between both hands and also told to have them touching. Any advantage to one or just personal preference?
Whatever feels best!
Are you in Moscow? For how long more?
Not anymore :(
New Prestige?
Nope
Роскошно!
Boom
Thanks Grisha. Don’t forget to rest & take vacation. you look like could use a day off or two
