You know that the movie ET had a scene redone because it had officers holding guns and oh my what will children think when they see police with guns so they air brushed it out and now they're holding radios. And, the reason they don't like to see a man and his wife fighting is probably they see themselves and it hurts Keep it up, keep the laughs coming... we love it... (on no I said love)
I remember that change. I think it was for the 25th anniversary DVD release that also added in some new effects on ET's face in a few scenes. I always thought it was stupid for them to edit out the rifles, but if I'm remembering correctly it wasn't done because "oh what will kids think about cops holding guns" but rather "why on earth are cops using RIFLES in persuit of a bunch of kids on bicycles??". That, in and of itself, makes sense as a "wtf?" thing to ask. I still don't think the scene needed to be altered, but even when I was a kid in the early '90s I thought that was fucking weird overkill from the cops. lol
