Yang Yang got World Champion title 2X: 1987 and 1989. He is very good player, one of badminton legend. When he was a yunior player, he defeat Icuk Sugiarto: 15-9; 15-6 in quarter final of Indonesian open 1983.
Yes i think so , Yang Yang , Zhao Jian Hua , Lin Dan , Rudi Hartano , Morten Frost , Kento Momota , Arbi Hariyanto they all very strong , but Lin Dan among them has achieved the best results due to his long lasting stamina

one may say the players were slower... but the 2 pairs helped make the game progressed. the Chinese pair was very good in attack and was one of the most lethal in attack. those days defence of doubles were quite bad therefore the China pair considered top. The msian pair were not good in attack but they were phenominal in defence and could return any smashes. So the games of these two pairs occillate. The indonesian and the Koreans during this time had to developped different strategies to counter these two pairs. Koreans of Park joo Bong play lot of drives and cross court whilst the Indonesians had to alter their attacking game to that of variable shots to counter the Sideks ultra defensive game.
Thank you very much for sharing this crystal clear video of yang yang match. Do u have any zhao jian hua match as this clear to share? Looking forward to it.

Wow, in 20 years the difference is crazy. I mean I understand that they have different racquets, but if you compare these guys to pro players nowadays it’s not really even close.
Still does. As you can see this is the Perth Superdrome, AKA the HBF Stadium which was opened in 1986, same year as Australians Audrey Tuckey (WA) and Michael Scandolera won the Commonwealth Games gold medal in Edinburgh, and only two years before this very event which was broadcasted on Channel 9. One of the commentators was in fact Michael Scandolera himself. Sze Yu was amongst the top players in the world at the time. The MS silver medalist at the 1986 Commonwealth Games also represented Australia at Thomas Cup, Sudirman Cup, and held titles at Taipei Open, US Open... He went on to become a well known actor after retiring from badminton. His father was amongst the first overseas Chinese Indonesian badminton players returning to mainland China in the 50’s.
BadmintonConnect WA This was never meant to be a dedicated badminton facility anyhow. The arena serves multi sporting & cultural purposes and is certainly regarded as a top option should we have the badminton competitions of this level coming to WA. What you see here, as you would understand, was only set up for that particular event. We need to have our own, Australian stars & pros, and keep the Australian legends of this calibre in this sport to raise its profile. With today’s technology, we are able to record, share and view badminton footages of all sorts, though BWF could have done so much more to bring Badminton beyond the badminton community to the general public’s enjoyment on mainstream media.
who knows...Tech and scorig system plays a huge difference. Who knows if great players can be easily defeated and weak players from that era are actually good

I think you have a misunderstanding of the level 30 years ago. Yang Yang in his prime would still make it pass the first rounds in a World Championship or similar. The game has changed yes, but for his talent it would have been easy to change the game. This was by no means a good match by Yang yang.
Sidek Brothers were the best doubles players the world have ever seen. The players today would not be in the same league. These guys were skilled and played with rackets that limited the game. If you gave a top ten double team a racket from the 90s and asked them to take on the Sideks they would not get into double figures. The standard today of the Badminton skill has not improved but the tech has.

Hope to see more of these memorable badminton games , really missed those players n their actions
Sidek brothers superb doubles
I trained with the Sideks in Kuala Lumpur and they are not only brilliant badminton players but they are a fantastic family
In my opinion Yang Yang he will always be one of the best single player in the world

He definitely is. His style is calm & steady. He is not an attacking or smashing player. He is more into rallies & tactics.
Sze Yu is a popular actor in Taiwan. He actually a great player.
Nice. Was in Perth for intervarsity games in 1992.

Ah, the old days.
Yang Yang was the opponent of Foo in the 80's, then become Foo's coach on the 90's
Thx BAWA. I was there when i had more hair. Still, there was a mix up with the names and scoring @ 10.34. Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie. Oi Oi Oi.
Permainan yang menarik untuk dinikmati karena kedua pemain tenang dan berusaha menyuguhkan seni badminton
Didn’t know that Victor already existed 😮 and I wonder what their string tensions are?
Nice to see players not shouting after every point.
Andrew Connolly was the most talented Aussie player I saw. The vics were always the best players in my day. No idea now.
nice shorts, by the way
Yang Yang adalah pemain yang paling ditakuti Icuk Sugiarto.
Never used hawk-eye once, the players really have full confidence in the line judges.
people (line judges) last time don't have attention span problem with current generation
nowdays racket very different compare to old one
Yang yang is so calm....
life is calmer back then

Yang Yang - Lin Dan's biggest influence
I didn’t know there were second services in badminton
Yang Yang certainly had his hands full against Sze Yu.

Shuttlecock quality a lot better and more durable 30 years ago?
cocks in general too .. everything is messed up nowadays
String tensions those day were mostly less than 25lbs the shuttle rarely gets squish
There were that many Lin Dan back then who changed shuttle after every point.
Do you know how heavy the rackets were in those days ...! if the boys went back time and play these players, they will not even get 5 points!!!!!
who knows...Tech and scorig system plays a huge difference. Who knows if great players can be easily defeated and weak players from that era are actually good
nah, 1988 we already had the carbonex 8, 9 , 10 ... 21 series .... and these are pretty light too
I still have my carbonex 8 and 20 for my kids to play with. They are about the same weight as the Duora Z strike I'm using now.
Yang Yang was 25 here. Imagining who's the best: a 25-y-o Yang Yang, a 25-y-o Zhao Jianhua, a 25-y-o Lin Dan and a 25-y-o Momota Kento.
I will pick zhao jianhua. He is beast, the best offensive player
Zhao jian hua, in prime undefeatable..

Yang yang pemain skil biasa kebanyakan pemain lain tpi apa kehebatan nya "otak cerdas" cepat taktis itu lah yang yang .
Misting Sidek is hilarious
Those shorts though
funny looking pants..lol
施羽的步法比较乱,能从杨阳身上拿这么多分有点不可思议。
If we compare these player with lee Chong Wei 😂😂😂😂
Yang yang vs Icuk vs morten
How games hv progress over the yrs. If the standard they r playing. I don't think they can play pass junior competition.
Andrew Chong are you sure? Look at the skill of Yang Yang..it's really near perfect I guess.
