      This! It's easy to try to push yourselves but remember that the most efficient way to build muscle memory is during the rest period when you take a break. be that going to bed or even doing something else. Lets get this bread Mishima Bros.

    One of my favourite drills is actually stepping jab into EWGF punish.
    The setup is:
    * Set opponent to block all
    * Set opponent to punish on block
    * Set the punish move to 10f jab
    Now every time the opponent blocks an attack from you, they will always respond with a 10f jab (the fastest move). At high level, this (and dick jabs) will mostly be used to jab check and interrupt strings in neutral. So it's actually quite useful to learn the timings to step and punish the fastest move in the game.
    The drill is simply:
    * Jab
    * Sidestep
    * EWGF
    If done correctly, you'll avoid the jab with sidestep and you'll hit EWGF if you're fast enough. Too fast and you get clipped by the jab, too slow and the EWGF gets blocked.

      This is a decent drill, but it’s better to set the punish option to common 10 frame strings. Strings track in Tekken 8, so side step electric only beats a single jab but loses to the string. Training vs the string lets you visually react to the whiff of the move whilst helping you to recognise where strings end.

    There is a 3rd way of doing EWGF, which is skipping the neutral entirely and going for f, d, df+2. The trick of trying to press 2 at the same time as down input while your thumb sweeps upwards for df input works well with this method, for faster inputs

    ok long story, sorry in advance. picked up tekken 8, first tekken/fighter ever. chose reina, got hardstuck fairly fast, couldn't seem to get better, tryed king and dragunov, made it up to shinryu, stuck there. was always intruiged by mishima's, mostly jin at this point (love devilster). your videos are pure gold, i love you. i will drill this with jin every day now until i can get clean electrics

    Very important to note: you DON'T have to use Electrics with Reina as a baseline. Reina is arguably the least reliant on it aside from regular Jin. You can play and learn her regularly w/o needing to pick up EWGF right away.
    This is just a PSA so people don't get intimidated by the execution barrier for it; Reina has plenty strong of a toolkit already. Electrics just add a strong dimension to it. I recommend playing her and practicing it on the side until you're comfortable using it in real matches

    When training block punishment, I have found it is very helpful to intentionally try to hit the block instead of getting the hit. I set the dummy to use -14 or 15 and aim to force them to block. As I get more comfortable doing that, I start scoring punishes without even trying to speed up. It works. I Repeat the mantra; hit the block, not the punish.

    • @shvrberi
      @shvrberi 8 месяцев назад +5

      @@mrpotato7734 oh, I mean that when I am practicing, I aim to (instead of getting a hit in the punish window) take a few extra frames to make sure my execution is perfect, so the electric comes out cleanly, which results in the bot blocking the punish. I practice that for a while, and soon enough, I start getting the punish without trying to do it faster. I hope that makes more sense

    The turning point for me came when I realized that mashing the buttons as hard is I could had nothing to do with the success of doing the move. Once I changed that I was finally focused on what my hands were actually doing and I finally got a more than 70% execution in practice. I see now that this is more finesse and execution than anything.

    One drill I like to do is a long form consistency drill, especially when you're first starting as it helps you note your progress as even 1 EWGF can take time for a fresh beginner.
    Do 30 in a row and see how many attempts are electrics.
    Even if you feel like you're going nowhere in terms of getting 5 in a row, seeing yourself going from 2/30 to 6/30 feels amazing to see and saves people from giving up.

  • @chanchanmaru1
    @chanchanmaru1 8 месяцев назад +2

    I'm using a stick and I found out that pressing 2 right as my stick is released into neutral (since my finger needs some travel time to hit 2) is the sweet spot for electrics. Also, I found doing electrics from the p2 side much easier.
    Thought I'd drop this here for stick players

  • @Oolong-Dong
    @Oolong-Dong 8 месяцев назад +1

    With Reina i think it is very beneficial to learn electric out of 1+4. 1+4 will allow you to duck highs and even jabs at -9 (Reina is often at -8 or-9. Try df11, b4 and on block 1+4 df+2. This sequence takes away your opponents turn if they try to retaliate with a high which you can replicate trough the punishment option in training).
    To perform an electric you need to input df+2 after the animation of 1+4 has ended. This will allow hard callouts and explosive damage. Also out of 1+4 the df+2 does not have to be executed on the exact same frame. I think you have a frame of leniency. You can also be sloppy and press d or f before df because the stance will only register df and go into a crouch dash from there.

  • @Oblivionbudi

    My advice is also to practice EWGF on Jin or DevilJin as they dont have PEWGF input. So you cant cheat one with Reina or Kazuya. And EWGF is kinda crucial to do from wave dashes and such. I have my PEWGF nailed down pretty easily but because i cant do reliay EWGF my use is kinda limited.

    My tip, as a keyboard player is to learn EWGF the right way first. At the beginning of my Reina journey I would do perfect electrics without the down input, which is rather easy on keyboard, but had to relearn everything because you can't skip the down input when doing the dash EWGF, which would make your do df2 launcher instead.

    for reina specifically, she has a crouch stance with 1+3. if you hit df it goes into a wind god step, allowing you to perform an electric (fist or thunder god kick) with only df +2/df+3 if your timing is right.
    the 1+3 stance also allows you to perform ALL while rising moves because it counts as a crouching state. i would highly suggest reina players to make use of that stance as your go to option for ducking moves (still make use of db for crouch blocking) since you have way more punish options out of that stance.
    for drills, i usually have characters perform high moves or strings that include highs to learn the timing of when i'm allowed to duck, then i try to punish with an electric.
    hopefully this helps!

      While possible, I think it's harder to do than f, n, df2 because it requires perfect frames in 2 inputs:
      * Just frame release of f
      * Just frame input of d
      And both these just frame events need to happen at the same moment.

If I just press F to go into the step and then press only D2, while pressing the D button on the right edge, the controller seems to recognise the DF input without really inputting it. The Electric happens pretty consistently this way. And F D2 is way more easy to execute than F, D, DF2…
    Has someone else tested this out or has an explanation for me?

    Hi can you please make a tutorial on how to do 2 consecutive electric. I need the timing. Because I always hit DF + 2 on the 2nd one.

    Should we be practising with the down input as well? Can't reina perform ewgf without down?

      Yes its better to do the input with D because you can't do F,n,DF2 out of wavedash/dash/running :)

    While i have finally got the hang of the button timing, i am currently struggling with 2 things: the motion input is not very precise, sometimes i get 2 df or 2 downs and my timing goes to waste, and how to do even a single electric after hitting a launching move (i don't understand the buffer in t8 very much). Can anyone help me?

    i dropped Reina, cuz is stupid (tbh) that you need to know all enemy things if you want to win.
    Maybe my mentality is very competitive, but it's unfair to lose a round for making a mistake just once, that and it doesn't have a midlauncher.
    Not all wiffs can be punished with electric, if you play on pad it is easy, but on keyboard or arcade stick you need execution to do EWGF, not to mention that FF2 has a 22% (If you HIT) to make you lose a round if the enemy guess or parry or powercrush you (hwoarang, king, Dragunov, DJin, ETC)

    Ok im on pad and realised there are 2 methods of doing it with your thumb. I can either sweep across from down to forward which is more consistent for me 100% or i can just push down with part of my thumb and forward with another part of my thumb after which is faster for punishes... wtf do i do 😂

    I hate learning both hwoarang and reina.
    Hwoarang has his JFSR, and reina/mishimas have their electirics. JFSR having no down input and electirics having the down input are both easy and difficult at the same time.

    I can do standing EWGF, Dash EWGF and Wave dash EWGF.. but not consistent enough probably 60% of the time.. and I rarely punish a whiff on reaction with EWGF .. played for 7 months

      @@MishimaComplex Thanks, I've labbed Block EWGF, I could do up to 15 frames but not consistent and I can't bring my brain to do it in a real game, always instantly 112..

      @@mazenyasser7208 hahah yeah don’t worry me too, unless I’m really familiar with the matchup I’ll just 112 most of the time 😂🥲

    I don't know why but in every match, 2 to 3 out of 10 electrics I get the d+2 on Reina while I can do perfectly fine with Kazuya... and it frustrates me to miss that punish because of her d+2.
