Great video! As a former tennis player two things I think would really up your game is working on power (using your legs) and working on footwork like split stepping to help you get to balls faster so you have more time to aim and try to get a passing shot.
Congrats on the first win. Love your videos and your humor/humility. After 3 years of playing at your age you should be well in the 4's or higher, practice harder!! Otherwise well done and thank you for sharing your pickleball journey with us. 😊
First, your videos are awesome - super endearing. Re your game, you need more whip in your wrist and elbow. This will create much more power and give you a baseline drive, overhead smash, and put away power, and will solve your issue of not ending points when you’re opponent sets you up. Keep up the great work!
Nice Eddie! 👏 Now watch your videos closely & learn from that. Also you are correct -- drilling will def help you get from 3.5 to 4.0 faster. Drilling will improve your muscle memory, expand your shot selection, and gain endurance (since you were running on fumes, as you admitted). Then execute -- apppy all drilling hours to your tournament play. 🙌 You will find you'll be a different & more confident player. Good luck on your next tourney. I'll be cheering you on! 💪
I think your opponent and I got kicked out of Weight Watchers at about the same time. Being in a senior bracket we cant play too hard anymore. You play against your self as much as your opponent or more. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Forgot who said this. Thank you for the videos!!!
One thought: try and hit to the backhand more because you’re getting more points that way and hitting their forehand likely gives them an easier way to hit a passing shot.
great video! If you ever come to North Central Florida let me know we can play singles and doubles we have a fun crew here in Alachua near Gainesville.
I would love to see you strengthen up your wrist in your shots, you let it get too loose and the paddle drops on every shot. If you start doing that as well as using the rest of your body in shots (ie close stance during drives, having a more active left arm, etc), I think you would see a huge improvement in your game.
I think if you worked harder on getting back to the middle and split stepping after hitting a shot you would get beat less on the other line! Just my thoughts! Love to watch your videos

Great games you and you learned a lot. You have a lifetime ❤

Also try and hit your serves and returns more aggressive, and deeper in the court, so your opponents have less options
Pace! Get some pace on those balls, might even consider using a different paddle with more pop for singles. Try to serve as deep as possible.

Thanks! That sounds like it would be a great time!
