    Hello from one runaway to another, lol. Love the videos and I can’t wait to return again next November. I’ve brought a few of these gifts back with me in the past and it’s funny to watch everyone try to pine for the gift they want the most. I’ll need to plan on a larger stock next time. I had never thought to send them back with DHL, thanks!

      Haha nice 😄 Yeah I'd say if you have the chance to take stuff back with you, don't go for DHL. It's super expensive, it's just great if you're late like me on buying & sending out Christmas gifts 🎁

    It would be great if you mentioned the rates. Would love to know the budget for souvenirs, while buying in a bunch.

      Got it - Will make sure I'll mention prices on my next Vlogs going forward:
      Jim Thompson Silk Clothing:
      ฿3.000-฿7.000
      Bukha Ball:
      ฿300-฿400
      Leila Amulets:
      ฿1.000-฿4.500
      7/11 Stuff:
      around ฿50-฿100 at most
      Brand Muay Thai Shorts:
      ฿1.800-฿3.000
      Everything else that's available on markets like Tea Sets, Elephant Pants & unbranded Muay Thai Gear is always up to negotiation and will depend on which market you visit. Chatuchachak is most convenient if you want to go on a souvenir shopping spree, but it does not necessarily have the best prices 💸

      Thanks! Yes, it also took me a while to notice. I always heard "Jim Thompson" and "Jim Thompson House" when I was in Bangkok in the past, but never associated it with silk 🐛

      They are really nice! Before you buy ask for the meaning - they come with different "blessings" for different goals! 🧿

    0:19 i saw those electric suitcases being sold at CentralWorld. They can be pretty fast too. They said it can run 20 km per full charge.

    • @JohnRunaway.Official
      @JohnRunaway.Official  9 месяцев назад

      They do go fast too! But the wheels are so small and the width of the axles is so narrow 😅 I don’t know… doesn’t look neither comfortable enough to go far, nor stable enough to go fast 😂

    Where to find all select 7-11 stores in Bangkok? I tried to get the herbal one. Unfortunately none of the stores i visited doesn’t have them

    • @JohnRunaway.Official
      @JohnRunaway.Official  7 месяцев назад

      Oh no I'm so sorry you couldn't find. The herbal soap is usually available in every 7-11 store, supermarket or drug store. Maybe it's really popular in your area 😅 It takes a while in my area until they stock up after I bought all of them. Try another 7-11 or maybe check a Big-C or Lotus nearby 🙏🏻 Sorry for the inconvenience!

    Why can`t you send religious artefacts, and what do you mean by "genuine" religious artefacts? Manuscripts? You mean old items of historical value? What about new items bought at a market?

    • @JohnRunaway.Official
      @JohnRunaway.Official  4 месяца назад

      New items are totally fine. Artifacts mean items of cultural or historical importance - There are a few shops here in Bangkok that will sell very old carvings or figures made by monks centuries ago. Those items will be unlikely to pass customs or even the inspection at the post office.

      @@JohnRunaway.Official It just came to my mind, how do they know at DHL if the item is old of historical value? Just by looking at it? Some new items can imitate old artefacts (like modern copies of museum exhibits that you can buy in souvenir shops at major museums in Europe). I guess you can show a receipt from a museum. But if you buy something imitating an ancient figurine at a market from a vendor in Thailand? I`ve seen plenty of such items.

    • @JohnRunaway.Official
      @JohnRunaway.Official  4 месяца назад

      @@lordjim3109 That's a good question. They probably side on the way of caution and just won't allow it - I once wanted to send a Buddha Statue & a few Thai coins for my friend who collects coins. Both were denied when I brought them to DHL. I left out the coins but packed in a tiny buddha figurine I bought on the market which they did not object to. Best to contact DHL or take the items with you back home on a flight if it's a single item you have a receipt for. I think those guidelines are mainly to protect against commercial trade, moving things out of the country for profit. If it's a personal item you've purchased for yourself it should be fine, but make sure to ask someone more knowledgeable about this in advance :D
