- Jeff is joined by Joleon Lescott to discuss Manchester City’s Premier League title win in 2012, one which some believe to be the greatest ever.
Big names and big characters are brought up, including Roberto Mancini, Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany and Mario Balotelli.
They also discuss THAT game against QPR: the comeback, Aguero’s goal and Joey Barton’s red card; The most influential player in that City squad; And why many of City’s players were happy to see Mancini go the year after the title win.
Joleon reveals how Balotelli’s iconic ‘Why Always Me?’ Celebration at Old Trafford came about and recalls the love-hate relationship between the forward and Mancini.
He also discusses Emmanuel Adebayor’s famous celebration against Arsenal, the Premier League legend who used to try and distract him during a match and the former England manager who made him cry.
He also answers this question: who would win a match between the 2012 title winners and City’s current all-conquering team?

“Man City players were happy to see Mancini go” | Joleon Lescott 🏙️ - Спорт
What's the greatest ending to a season in your opinion? 🤔
Arsenal 3 Burnley 2 1953.
@@stevestannard6004 The same weekend as the Matthews cup final!
Leicester winning the league.
@@r4h4al unforgettable 👏
Gotta say 1989 arsenal winning at Anfield by 2 clear goals and Michael Thomas goal was literally last kick of the game.
Mancini is exactly like Glen Hoddle, he cannot stand that not every player is as technically gifted as he was
Steve mcmanaman and matt le tissier were the same sort of players as Glenn hoddle yet he didn't pick them for England. He was a great player but an average manager.
@@Evemeister12 problem with matt le tissier is he needed the team built around him thats why he never fit in for england
Mate, do not ever, EVER put Mancini and Hoddle in the same sentence in a managerial capacity.
It is an insult to Mancini.
What has Hoddle achieved as a manager? Please don't insult Mancini
Hoddle likes it being all about him
Don’t care what they say about Mancini he brought us our first silverware in years will always be a legendary blue
Agree, He will be remembered long after Lescott who would have been at fault if we lost that day.
@@steve-en7bmthe last day wouldn’t have been possible without Lescott goal at Villa

Mancini will always be a legend to us blues for what he did for us.
What a nice guy, he comes across really well, really down to earth, just a great bloke
I got to meet Terry Connor in a professional capacity but the brief encounter I thought was a great man and very humble
awesome insight from Joleon, good ep. nice to hear more about Glenn's footballing brain.
A nice unexpected moment that wasn't it!
Did Glenn manage him at England? @footballsgreatestpod
@@sevans606 Wolves 👍
Tell you more about the brain of lescott.
Great episode...👏🏻👏🏻 Unbelievable Jeff!!!...😉😁⚽️
Nice one Neil! ⚽️
Been waiting for this to drop Jeff! Thanks mate
Hope you enjoyed it! ⚽️👑
These interviews are great really nice to hear their perspective
Fantastic Interview! Loved this ❤
Close your eyes.. Troy Deeney! Great interview :)
18:45 Strange his talking negative about Mancini. He’s got a FA Cup and Premier league medal coz of Mancini. Lescott is a terrible pundit too
fotballers are self centred arseholes that don't care about the fans
@@DocumentingReality-ol9esWhen players badmouth a manager it's always because he dropped them or some petty personal reason, never the big picture.
@@veritas4364 Mancini was an overbearing a hole. If it was Mourinho instead of Mancini, he would have won min 2, max 3 PL with that Super team of Tevez, Dzeko, Aguero, Balotelli etc. His petty mind games with star player Tevez was pathetic.
cheers jeff
Shut your eyes and man sounds like Troy Deeney 😂
He sounds alot more intelligent
Quality. Ta!
Wish Jeff had asked Lescott about how he felt robbing a living when he was at Villa.
He was an absolute disgrace at Villa, remember his comment when they got relegated, saying in a way he was glad it was over and done with as it took the pressure off the players, just shows what a creep he is.
@@proudman6598Him & Micah Richards are some of the worst business the Villa ever conducted!
@@bencash4198 Micah was done after the injuries. It was embarrassing seeing him sticking it at Villa Park.
352 does kind of make sense in that golden generation period for England. Assuming Scholes would've made himself available of course. Carrick could have been another option for Scholes.
Another great interview.
What a squad, eh ⚽️👑
yeah they dont really have good fullbacks anyway.. aside from ashley cole..
@@alone2break Beckham would have been great on the right of that formation, more comfortable than where he played on the wing.
Beckham today would be one of the best wingbacks in the game without a doubt, could move into central areas if needed and can get up and down the pitch with ease

Fascinating insight from Joleon
⚽️👑
Mancini was a total hot head as a player
He was a snitch and a total managers pet actually.
As a manager too.
Commander Warf telling some good stories.
Legend 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Joleon if anybody was disrespectful it was Adebayor Arsenal made him and us fans loved him he did a great job for us,but he started to become the stroppy twat i saw him at an airport and someone shouted out to him here he is on 80k a week and just strolling about he said back to him 90k
It showed you exactly what he was like when he kicked Van Persie in the head, and mentioning him in the same breath as Thierry Christ he was lucky to be in the same side as the 👑
😂 Ultimately you are upset he left Arsenal for a better opportunity. Arsenal were a selling club for a long time. Going back to Anelka and even Pettit.
The airport story is actually quite funny 😂 why should he have to justify his wages to some fan.
Football fan's should respect former players much more in general.
Someone please tell him. You can also change the channel
@16:00 we drive on a different side of the road than what he was used ta, also we don't drive on the wrong side of the road ................................ THEY do 🤣🤣🤣
Should have asked him about the Twitter photo of the expensive car after Villa got tonked 6-0
If not for that goal it would have been 5 premierships in a row for that man u team.
Seems like a decent fella
Jeff two words
Cole Palmer
I disagree on England with Joleon since Maguire is preferred o er White or Tomori
Always rated this defender, like so many of moyes' squad. Does come across as a bit childish
Is it me or lescott sounds like sully from top boy
yaya toure serious balla
Obviously it would have been some players who were happy he got sacked and not everyone. Players not playing are bound to feel that way. And players who did, would have likely been happy with him. Very few have a bad word to say about Mancini. Comes across as very classy in a business where it's very hard to be nice and successful at the same time.
Sour grapes, I say.
Just type in google search: " Mancini fight". You will realize he fought with everyone. Even with his team's physio. He was an overbearing madman who happened to manage a superteam who could have achieved much more.
barton has let down every club he's played for. clearly needs a lot of help
Hasn't he been a decent manager minding smacking a few ppl
Burnley?
He attracts the lowest common denominator like flies to a turd
Footballs Greatest. With Respect, Lescott in my view doesn’t enter the thinking of one of the greatest.
He achieved more than most professionals. Most pro's don't even make the Premier league. Plus he's more qualified to talk about pro football than you and me. He was actually in the dressing room. Everyone else is commenting from the outside looking in.
@@D1Snr the podcast is about footballs greatest. Do me a favour

No Aston Villa chapter?
Lescott almost cost City the trophy in that match 😂😂
Lescot average player, with average mind trying to smear a manager who won the PL!
Still had a better career than you 😅😅
The klingon
Mancini was a nice guy, but he made a rod for his own back bringing Balotelli in .... how could training sessions ever be 'harmonious' or productive with him around??
Lescott was quality for Everton. A real goal threat. Some tackle, even did a job at left back in the early days. That final performance against Arsenal unfortunately leaves a sour taste. Shame because he was awesome.
"ive never seen a side with such strong characters" what?! Did he not see the Manchester United 95 team with Schmeichel,Bruce,Pallister, Irwin,Keane,Ince,Giggs, Robson, Cantona,Hughes, McClair?? 95? The year Blackburn won the league and Everton won the Cup? That year?

37:27 LOOOL Nah bro...Your last game for Everton, you lost 6-1 at home LOL... I know cause I was there. Should have been 10. Your games vs Arsenal with Man City, you was getting torched.
Get enough negative comments about Mancini? 😄
Cant listen to anymore of this..... Lescott really went down in my estimation during this. Such bitter and cheap shots taken at a legend like Mancini.
Everyone knows Barton got sent off to throw the game, it’s ridiculous there was no investigation! Match fixing at its finest.
Favourite manager Glen Hoddle.....won fuck all. Most disliked manager, Mancini....made your career.
Matey. U widnt get a sniff in the new Man City team.
I'd run the show
No wonder this guy isn't a pundit
Watched under 5 minutes and can already tell he's a clever, insightful guy
Too much for you clearly

He is😊
He's an excellent pundit in my opinion.
As a utd fan. How can a snake 🐍 say he's happy Mancini went. Guys a legend for City and Italy
Exactly pal! I just commented something very similar!!!!
I think it has something to do with Lescott being a prick.
Joleon comes across badly in this interview for me. Many cheap shots taken at Mancini. I'm a United fan but Mancini should have God like status for anyone connected to City.
Why any top flight manager could of done what he done the people of that time city already treat like 'gods' no fans lol they got no god
@@troytheboy1985 mate, it's very difficult to read your comment without any use of commas and full stops🙂 But I detect you're a United fan? (As am I). I just just pointing out that Lescott comes across very bad and bitter in this interview.
