  • The first thing you notice at Advaita is its simple door adorned with a handcrafted Dashavatar, symbolizing the evolution that connects Wabi-Sabi and Indian aesthetics. Inside, a traditional Mata ni Pachedi art piece from Gujarat sets the tone.
Upon entering, a striking wall of arched niches displays Indian crafts, including a Panchaloha from Tamil Nadu and black clay pottery from Meghalaya. Beside it is a 200-year-old restored pillar crowned by a mythical Yali, symbolizing the global yet deeply Indian essence within.
The open-plan living, dining, and family zones feature organic curves, including a fluted backdrop for the sofa, complemented by a custom Gond painting. A vibrant Kalamkari motif in terrazzo adds color to the otherwise monochrome space. The dining table sits next to a restored window from Rajasthan, offering a peek into the kitchen. The family space overlooks the balcony, and the TV panel, lime-washed like the rest of the house, features a hand-drawn mural of a potter, celebrating craftsmanship.
The son’s room, designed for a teenage boy, balances study, isolation, and social interaction with a cozy corner bed, raised seating, and a mural of cricketer MS Dhoni. The room is optimized with ample storage and clean walking spaces.
The mother’s bedroom emphasizes comfort with built-in storage and a personal pooja area. A hand-drawn mural of birds adds a cheerful Wabi-Sabi touch. The master bedroom embodies Wabi-Sabi principles with a handcrafted bed, bespoke furniture, and a monochrome palette. A hand-drawn Pattachitra mural and a Kalamkari dupatta used as a shutter add Indian artistic elements.
Advaita’s guest room is multifunctional, offering a serene space for reading, meditation, or music while transforming into a bedroom when needed. A beautiful Saraswati artwork by Prasun Mazumdar highlights the connection between art and serenity amidst chaos.
The bathrooms at Advaita follow minimalist Wabi-Sabi design principles. The powder room has a mud-colored wall, a Colston basin, and quirky Claymen artwork. The son’s bathroom features sage green subway tiles, while the master bathroom boasts customized biophilic tiles and Kohler fixtures, offering a true retreat.
Advaita is a home for someone who travels the world but carries a piece of India within them.
