    Really love this song, and I think this album is gonna be pretty special. It's not more "mature", it's more chilled out. Still hits hard but also calm in a way. Parker's just not writing angry songs anymore.

    I personally love this song and Big Blind. Yes, it’s different from their older stuff, which so many people, myself included love. WYDS is one of my fav albums ever, but so is Proper Dose. That album helped me through a divorce. I love the vibe they have now. Great guitars and floating like choruses that get stuck in my head for days. It’s relaxing but also puts you on the feels. And also, they are getting older just like all of us. Life changes. Perspectives changes. Sometimes we try new roads. I love growing with this band and many others. Can’t wait for the full album!

    Though this isn't the world's best song, it's still really good. Proper dose might be their best album imo, so I don't mind their be direction. I feel like Parker's second band (forgetting the name rn) does a good job of satisfying those who miss the old punk sound.

    The new Big Blind mix that released with Letterman sounds clearer and less compressed to me and is in line with Letterman. As for Letterman, I love it. The guitars compliment the vocals really well and the drums are in the pocket and not overplayed. Lyrics and vocal melodies are good as always.
    It feels weird to expect a band to sound the same as they did when they were 18. With age comes growth and I think every album reflects that. They've always been great songwriters regardless of how "angry" the songs are. I was a sophomore in high school when USAD came out so it's been fun growing up with TSSF. I find my life aligning with the tone of each album as they come out.
    Also I am from Chicago as well (Lincoln Square) so hello from a fellow Chicagoan!

    I like Letterman a lot - seems like a refined, layered version of the sound they put forward on Proper Dose mixed with a bit of the energy from their self-titled. Though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for a more "mature" version of their angrier, old tracks. Only a few bands putting harsher pop-punk stuff out these days (Hot Mulligan chief among them), and I definitely miss it.
    Who knows though, there could be some surprises in the rest of the tracklist. Torf on drums + Kelen's departure may change the sound somewhat as well.

    With this brand new song, i think TSSF solidified themselves that they're still one of the best band of the modern pop punk genre. They proved yet again that they can move forward, and reinvent themselves without losing touch of what tssf is all about. Thank God it's a different sound, and it's a different vibe, but it's diffenitinetly still TSSF. They still capture that feel and emotion whenever i listen to them. And this song definitely did it. When i first heard letterman, i thought it's something that i would just forget after one play. It's been on repeat the entire day.

    I think its gotten more mature in its lyrics. It definitely is more of just a rock track than old TSSF pop punk, I like the move in general just because I really love proper dose as an album in its entirety moreso than their earlier efforts(even tho i love more songs there than proper dose).
    I am curious where the full album goes, cuz parker definitely kept the punk edge for no pressure and seems like tssf is more interested in expanding their sound

  • @reaperm666
    @reaperm666 3 месяца назад +1

    I'll be honest I don't really care what genre they fit in, i don't really care what genre any band fits in. It's just down to preference, as soon as you hear something, you know if you like it or not, and as you get older you become alot more open minded and more experimental in music taste, or atleast I did.
    Ive been listening to TSSF for 11/12 years now, and if you played me Letterman back then I may not have even liked it. Now though I love almost everything TSSF produce because I've grown up with the band over such a long time and i'm simply a huge fan of the band in general but also Parker. His vocals and lyric writing is great.
    As for Letterman in particular I can understand why fans who liked their first few albums don't like their most recent music, but I really enjoy the deep and meaningful lyrics because it's something i care about more as i get older, and TSSFs sound, flow choruses etc are very catchy.

    Who gives a shit whether they’re pop punk. Pop punk is such a tiny sandbox to play in. TSSF are still interesting because they’ve expanded their sound. We don’t need USAD or WYDS part 2. I’m glad this band aren’t rehashing the same shit they were doing when I was still in high school.

    TSSF has gone the same route a lot of bands from their time have. Bands like Turnover, Citizen, and Movements. Still love this band though and am excited to listen to the full album.

    So for starters I would suggest fans of early TSSF to take a step back to truly analyze the natural progression of where they are as a band. TSSF never tried to follow that classic "Pop Punk" sound even since there debut album USAD. What made this band stick out was that easy bouncy vibe plus the energetic aggressive tone that carries from Parker so damn well. This man has an astonishing voice that has truly matured over time. Getting offended or drawn back when a band chooses to grow and mature is just silly. That's just the natural progression of things it's just what it is. Take it for what it is and just remember the glory day that was 2011! Can't live there forever you gotta move on and enjoy it from time to time like a fine bourbon!! Cheers fellow TSSF heads!

    It has a Dream Pop vibe to it. Will Levy has been putting out Dream Pop through his side band called Cold Moon. Although I really like Cold Moon, the sound is a little too lax for Parker's vocals. He needs to put out a rap metal album with songs similar to Quarashi's "Stick 'em Up."
