Did you check them out? I did about 9mths ago after hearing a song off album 1 or 2 (I'd heard DDTK) I was (am) obsessed. Her voice and the musicianship is something else, never heard anything like it. Then BW came out and I was a bit 'oh where's the guitars' but after a couple of listens you realise how epic every song is. May they continue on this journey of excellence and individuality.
Had the pleasure of meeting Joff post-show in Atlanta when both he and Ellie were kind enough to pose for a photo with me. Super nice dude and unbelievably talented guitarist… loved the interview! Thanks!!!
Amazing guitarist and composer he is so talented, and more than anything he inspires you to be a better musician, you can always be a guitarist but does it make you want to make different sound that is not the guitar but how it works as a song. Just great stuff well worth the watch, thank you PG and Joff!

i had the big pleasure standing in front of you, at your concert in Copenhagen ,seeing you playing on this guitar. you are a phenomenal guitarist and a great performer. it was an amazing concert
YES! I've been hoping for a Joff rundown for ages! This was such a good interview and walk-through. 👍 I can't believe he's got a Tender Octaver Mk.1 on his board! That's awesome. Those things are getting so rare and pricey, after they got caught stealing EHX' POG algorithm. I don't approve of their actions, but I recently got myself one anyway since Electro Harmonix don't make a POG this size. 😁 Would love to nerd out with Joff one day, especially over pedals of course! Thanks again guys, for this great rundown. 👍
Joff’s board is amazing. I love the full guitar nerdery. Great to hear him talk in detail about his sounds. I saw them a while back in Kingston and the board was big then but half this size!
I have no idea how any of these dingleboops work but goddamn is it a joy to watch a usually quietly competent guy just being really really into what he's talking about
Was this before they added the keyboard player in the band? When I saw them recently the keys player was playing a lot of the synthy type stuff that used to be played on guitar
Why not have the guy demonstrate what the high-pass sounds like? This is the weakness of all these Rundowns. They talk about sounds while holding the actual guitar and surrounded by the actual amps and pedals that create those sounds. * Show us how you use the kill switch * How do those up-the-neck chords sound? * Demonstrate the high-pass setting * Demondtrate the “Lollar sound” and why you chose these It’s as if I’m reading a magazine 15 years ago and having to imagine the tones some guy is describing.
PG has explained this in comments before, but screw it I'm on the toilet pushing out a bad round of taco bell, so I'll play keyboard warrior today. Rig rundowns aren't so simple to shoot, sometimes they're filmed right before soundcheck so things get rushed, some venues don't allow turning up before soundcheck, some artists just don't want to do it. There can be dozens of reasons
Meh. If a guy can do a passable bass cover at his desk with an iPhone, this publishing company, filled with experts and contacts, can find a way to get the artist being interviewed and the venue being name-checked to play a few bars of listenable music on the very stage he’ll be playing on in 4 hours. Turn down. Do it earlier. Whatever. Don’t ask us to imagine sounds while the star guitarist is standing there not playing the actual instrument.
@@noahliberman3247 you can always just look up the band and hear what they sound like, its really not that big of a deal. Oh an he starts playing 20 minutes in.
To be fair, it's a rig rundown, not a 'how to play my tunes/how I utilize my rig' rundown . I kind of see your point but if you listened to Wolf Alice you'll know exactly how and where Joff uses his killswitch

I know absolutely nothing about Wolf Alice, but Joff is such a pleasant interview that I have to check them out now.
Start with their first KEXP session and enjoy the ride from there
you will not regret it atall
Same.
Did you check them out?

@@grahambarlow9881 I have and they are growing on me!
Fender, if you're listening, I bet this would make a SICK artist series instrument
Said the same. He's earned it after BW. Next level album
he made his own guitar during lockdown...how awesome is that!
I built my own banana bread ... :-)
@@TheHiredCode That made me laugh so much.
@@TheHiredCode me too and a few cocktails
Chris Kies has improved so much as an interviewer
But is the mustache an improvement?🤔
@@Jmarshall-kj4hc Yeah.
I see. It would be a pretty hard gig specifically with musicians. The guest is a key piece but I agree he's improved.
For sure. Can be a tough gig for sure.
What a top bloke Joff is. Really loved the band already but love them even more now. Great interview!!
I met him at Albany show recently. Talked about guitars and music. Good guy. Great guitarist.
Had the pleasure of meeting Joff post-show in Atlanta when both he and Ellie were kind enough to pose for a photo with me. Super nice dude and unbelievably talented guitarist… loved the interview! Thanks!!!
Dude has the best swoosh sound in the business
Amazing, I’ve been waiting for an updated rig rundown. Thank you 🙏
Wolf Alice are such an awesome band 🤘
Love these tones! The fuzz with zero noise is so good

Super cool! Great to see someone touring with the HX and FX and not be afraid to go full blast on the effects!
Such an amazing band. My Love is Cool and Blue weekend are incredible albums from start to finish. Thx for this one Chris!
This band is great, they have a fantastic (!) live sound! Thanks for the video.
glad they did another one. i still have hopes that their first one from a few years back can get re-uploaded some day
it must have been taken down because he swore too much
What a very down to earth genuine genius, if that's a thing.
I've only recently discovered Wolf Alice, and this interview only builds on my enthusiasm for the band.
The sound for "Last Man on earth" is amazing. 26:40. It always excites me how much sound sound you can pull out of a short scale guitar.
joff is such a legend
This is so good! Such a great choice of band, they have some amazing guitar sounds!
YES!
I've been hoping for a Joff rundown for ages! This was such a good interview and walk-through. 👍

Thanks again guys, for this great rundown. 👍
This was a fantastic rundown - Really can relate with Joff’s approach.
Gonna go check out some Wolf Alice now!
love WOLF ALICE!
"cause we heard the blues lick million times before"
Thanks for that joff! 👏Someone has to say it!!!
I love Wolf Alice, and they deserve a lot more recognition than they already have. And Joff is an outstanding guitare player!
Could watch that all day!
What about the other members? I'd love to know more about Ellie's black Tele, for instance!
Ellie doesn't have a complicated pedal board to show so it'd be a much shorter interview!
There is an article with her rig described in it. It hasn't changed since then.
Great job on the guitar , especially the neck it must have been a task , great music always from Wolf Alice .😀😀
Chris always does his homework for his Rundowns! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Joff’s board is amazing. I love the full guitar nerdery. Great to hear him talk in detail about his sounds.
I saw them a while back in Kingston and the board was big then but half this size!
During the VOAL tour, he had TWO boards for a while (at a 90-degree angle from each other). This one is scaled down for reliability.
The TVL was a gift from troy himself after Wolf Alice toured with Qotsa
Saw them Yesterday in Milan.. what a freaking good band!!!!
Many thanks for ''Lipstic on the glass''!
Great vid, Wolf Alice have one of the best live sets, saw them at Alexandra Palace a couple of years ago, amazing sound.
Super underrated band!
They are quite big in the UK/EU
@@thisandthat1233 Yeah Im from the UK, have seen them multiple times. Still think they deserve more haha!
I have no idea how any of these dingleboops work but goddamn is it a joy to watch a usually quietly competent guy just being really really into what he's talking about
Mooer have some of the best pedals in the business! Copies or not, they are great.
Was so cool seeing him using some of these pedals as they are so accessible!
He's amazing
Best band in the 🌍.
What's that riff he plays at 24:47, the descending one... sounds really familiar!
This guy could be my friend, we'd had long chats about crazy pedalboard configurations and stuff, xD.
33:40 that's the tone I'd like to have .
Joff is awesome. He plays for the song, not his role in it. Rare indeed.
EXACTLY! He reminds me a lot of Buck in Big Thief. Rare.
Got good taste my man. I literally have half those pedals. Dr Z Maz 38 NR and all Strats though 🤙
such a sick band
That is a great pedal board. I am in love with this rig.
What’s a better fit for me, the HX Stomp or the HX Effects? Yes.
Joff 🖤
Was this before they added the keyboard player in the band? When I saw them recently the keys player was playing a lot of the synthy type stuff that used to be played on guitar
Why is he not showing the "Ventera"?
Would love to have a play around with his pedal board
Will there be an episode for Ellie and Theo?
They both politely declined and we had to rush off stage afterwards because our filming ate into their soundcheck. Thanks for the support!
Hopefully in the future. Thanks for the great video
Too bad, I'd love to see the bassist's rig!
NOW ELLIE !!!
Very cool
love him!
Mooer must have got word of Joff using the octave pedal. It’s around $100 now
can y’all do a cloakroom rig rundown
Come on Fender Joff needs his own siggy. Blue Weekend was/is next level man he's earned it. Fantastic range man.
He should put a fender roasted maple powercaster neck on that thing because those are 24 3/4 scale length as well.
This neck is nicer--and he literally made it.
The haychex fx
man that is a beautiful pieee of mahogany!
You should see the back of the neck! Gorgeous flame maple.
Jazz Master. Nice!
Do a rig rundown with beabadoobee please
This guy isn’t the original guitarist is he??? Looks different than 5 years ago?
Yes, same Joff. Just five years older!
Rig Academy 911
...Nels Kline..Nick Reinhart... Henry Kaiser...
maybe he should see a doctor regarding that lump below his right ear
