This is very heartbreaking for the league to lose such a pioneer to the sport and I really hate that this has to be the first big loss of 2020 😩😫 THE NBA WILL NEVER BE THE SAME 😞😞
One of the few commissioners I actually liked. Seemed like a good man, and the players, coaches, and owners seemed to really like him which definitely says something.
David Stern was a marketing genius... NFL, MLB or other sports league would love to have him as commissioner. Rest in peace and thank you for making NBA a worldwide brand.
True. And the NBA became a worldwide phenomenon before the NFL. Here in Brasil (original with an S) the NBA has been broadcasted on TV (terrestrial and/or cable [streaming, etc]) without interruptions since the late 1980's, our first commentary team on site for a game was in the game 7 of the 88 finals. Stern might've not played a game in his life, but his vision as the executive head of the league is a major reason for stuff like this becoming real. We, in our history, hosted preseason games and countless other events, with all time greats of the league such as Gary Payton coming here.
I swear he was getting better to. This dude helped the NBA survive. This man is an absolute legend. R.I.P. If u disliked the video theres something wrong with you
Definitely the best commissioner of any sport all time in my opinion! Gone but not forgotten RIP David! I can say I'm truly honored that I got to see David Stern past my team the Celtics a NBA championship in my lifetime that was a proud moment to watch see and be a part of!
RIP David Stern Stern has seen a lot of moments in his NBA commissioner from the good with MJ and the bad with the Seattle Supersonics relocation to Oklahoma City.
I think the mixed bag is the Sacramento Kings for the 2002 WCF against the L.A. Lakers and their relocation threats before Stern gave then-Sacramento mayor and former NBA all-star PG Kevin Johnson a chance to create a plan for the Golden 1 Center.
Stern had a vendetta against Seattle ever since he lost the Spencer Haywood case, he definitely “greased the wheels” behind the scenes of the Sonics relocation then a few years later completely blocked the Kings to Seattle deal. Maybe he did more good to the league overall but he definitely will not be missed in the 206
