That grading attachment is brilliant. I wish they had these in the states. Typical quarries here have horrible potholes and nothing typically gets graded. Nice work
Hi man, well done!!!! That grading beam works really good. I always leave a few potholes. If I don’t, all the lorry drivers think that they are driving on a rally stage!!!! Awesome work
That drag box is pretty good idea! Never seen one like that for a loader! We have big drag boxes we pull with a big farm tractor to keep haul road for scrapers or off road trucks !
It certainly seems like that. Buses are the same. The problem is actually about traffic flow and how any issues on the road or at the destinations can cause ‘clumping’.
@tutekohe1361 When I did this type of work, the government trucks (USA state and county road crews) would sit under an overpass just down from the quarry entrance and bullshit with each other until there was 10 or 12 of them gathered. Then they would all go to the quarry together. Then they would park just before the scale out until they were all loaded. Then go through the scale. Annoying as can be for a private carrier.
I miss running loaders. Got lucky and was able to run equipment in my late teens early 20s. Soon as my kids are older and im able to work more hrs Im hoping to get back to doing it again.
Those trucks actually are designed to run without a tailgate especially when hauling a trailer the bottom edge is extended to keep the load out from under the truck when unloading. However a tailgate can be used in most situations. It’s really a matter of preference for the company that owns the equipment
@@andreasfromnorway5577 heya.... yep I guessed it was for weight reasons.... but I though 2 buckets wouldnt weight more than a 3 axle truck could hold..... max 10 ton per bucket?
@@meddylad You are on to something there, the maximum axle load on the drive axle in Scandinavian countries is 11.5 tonnes, and the bogie axle 10 tonnes. But in the legislation for axle combinations with more than three axles with a mutual axle distance of 1.20 - 1.80 m, each axle can have 3/4 of the permitted axle load. That means a maximum of 26.5 metric tonnes of cargo, but very few roads are built for this so some cars take less than this again. The bucket he uses is about 5m3 if i remember correctly, so each bucket should weigh close to 10 tonnes. But what is not apparent in the video is what kind of communication the operator has with the truck drivers. It may very well be that they don't need more for all we know.
A boggie generally has a legal payload of around 14-15 tonnes while a tridem is around 16,5-17,5 tonnes. A 3 axle trailer takes between 18 and 21 tonnes depending on configuration and a 4 axle trailer between 21 and 24 tonnes. Given our general 64 tonne maximum weight and an empty weight of a truck with trailer of around 22-24 tonnes it gives a total payload of roughly 40 tonnes. You can never fit more than 2 full buckets of material on the lorry itself though, the buckets are dimensioned just about right to hold roughly 8,5 tonne of light weight gravel and 11 tonnes of dense material.@@meddylad
Hello, great video. But why are the sides on trucks so small? after all, if you supply normal full-size containers up to 30-40 tons, then transportation will be much faster and you won’t need any trailer. And the trailers are also some kind of toys
They arent open, there is a little ”flap” that you cant see, pneumatic controlled from inside the cabin. Standard in Sweden, the door on the side is closed when you load lighter material that takes up more space.
@@rd431 transporting gravel does not require tarp, but transporting cereals such as wheat and oats do require tarp. But often in the summertime with gravel you can drive under a shower to wet the product so its less dusty.
Truck and pup combos don't have the tailgate, so you would disconnect from the pup(trailer)... dump your truck and the box on the trailer will slide into the one on the truck. Really neat concept. 👌
The scale of the loader can only weigh correctly at a certain position. So when filling a truck to a specific weight, near the end you have to check how much is already in the truck.
That depends on how much the truck weight or the one driving it. I am loading 13 tons(metric tons) on 3 axle trucks and 16 tons on 4 axle trucks if the driver doesn’t say otherwise
@@ultramarines2 The loaders in many of the pits I hauled out of were equipped with scales and I’d tell them how many tons in each box. I ran 8 axle truck n pup in the great PNW.
@@bluezhawg2104 Where I work we have Volvos Load assist system in the machines and a weighbridge that every truck have to drive on to register their payload. Sounds awesome! Because of very strict weight limitations here in Norway, we don’t use so large trucks on the roads

Nice operation running that loader ,not bogging it down with each bucket load ,he knows his equipment, smooth ,very smooth.
I love being an operator, I've ran cat's, Volvo and John Deere. The tuffest was the cat by far but the smoothest was the Volvo.
Been running a Cat 980K loader and love it
Truck / Lorry drivers have a herd mentality, they all show up at the same time.

Most european countries have axle load restrictions. So he will only load up to what each truck is allowed to carry.

Maybe because of weight restrictions in European nations. And those 'small' containers can be easier put down at place of need/construction.
