    Nice job. I've found that using a yellow Scotch-Brite Roloc bristle disc works well and fit the twist on pad just right too. The throttle on my die grinder is a bit clumsy sometimes and these do ok even with a battery drill.

    Is there a difference on rockers' bridges from year to year? If so what year would be best? Also, would it be better to put performance heads in for valve springs guide and seats like hardened seats and bronze guides and tougher springs for durability? What abought lifters? Asking for a friend 🙄🤣😂🤣😆

    Hi, your video is very good. I like the fact that you go step by step. A question: I have the same 6.4 powerstroke engine. Whenever it is on it emits a lot of smoke with a diesel smell. From your experience, what do you attribute this fault to?

    Great video, the only step that I would question is prepping the block. I watch alot of Ron the Diesel Tech. RIP. Ford seems to want to leave the machine hatching to help give the replacement gasket some traction. Otherwise great video.

      @@darkirondiesel Thanks for the reply, I was also wondering... There's a bit of a story behind this one.
      I woke up one day to my DPF and catalytic converter cut out of the truck, so instead of replacing them I just had a pipe welded. And then got a tuner to do a full delete.
      My question is, with the programmer deleting the EGR from the program, do I need the delete pipes? Or is it ok to run the way it is?

    • @darkirondiesel
      @darkirondiesel  3 года назад

      What do you mean? Delete pipes are for the exhaust so sounds like you made your own “delete pipes” by filling in the dpf that was stolen. The egr is deactivated from the tune so you can remove it or leave it in the truck, doesn’t matter much.

    You don't reuse exhaust bolts on anything. They've seen to much heat and have a high probability of snapping.

    Have blown head gaskets on mine, looking to stud it and while I’m in there replace the pistons with the HD ones. Is there an easy way to pull the pistons and rods out while the heads are out?

    • @darkirondiesel
      @darkirondiesel  3 года назад

      Take the oil pan off, unbolt the pistons from the crank and push them up out the top of the block, but it’s kind of hard to do in the truck. Would be better off pulling the motor and putting it on a stand in my opinion

      They're reliable trucks if yu delete them, tune them and keep up with the maintenance. 💯 Everyone is always quick to bash a 6 4. I have 285k on mine bulletproofed it at 200k and the only prob I had with it was a bad radiator and fan clutch. It's a strong truck.

Yeah if yu neglect them put the pedal to the floor every time and dont keep up with maintenance you'll def have probs forsure. I bought my truck of this oil company I worked for wen they moved back down to Texas I only paid 1800 for it and it had 180,000 on motor wen I got it. Deleted everything bulletproofed it and ran a bully dog tuner. It's my work truck it hasn't given me prob beside a bad radiator and fan clutch but I dont beat it up. Hopefully it keeps going strong for me.

    Would never use a pneumatic tool for deck surface. These motors in particular are particular about the flatness and surface roughness. You should also measure the piston protrusion + valve recession. Many machine shops dont bother to trim the valve stems if they deck the heads, so this could cause problems with piston to valve clearance. Its actually best to throw the stock heads away (they are garbage) and get aftermarket o-ring heads from KDD or Diesel DR.
