Omg this video is SO BEAUTIFUL to watch😂😂😂😂
A friend sent it to me😂😂 Thanks for reacting to my video. Y’all did good ( in pidgin we’d say “Una do well”)
New subbie here ❤
Thank you for teaching us, lovely! Welcome to the family!
You’re most welcome ❤ I enjoyed every bit of this video 👌
Thanks again fam 😍
Interesting. A lot of Caribbeans use variations of the word Una in the same way. Jamaicans say Unu, Bajans (from Barbados) say Wunna, Bahamians say Yinna and Trini’s say Allyuh (I guess Trini’s are really saying All of you).
Una is also a Latin word that means One. And we know that the upperclass English used to say One instead of I/You e.g. “Does one need to use the restroom?” Or “One needs to use the restroom”.
I wonder if Latin speaking countries spoke like this too, and during the slave trade and colonialism we picked this up. So where @pidginlovers said “Una do well”, is it modelled after the English or Latin way of speaking and can it translate to “One has done well”?
Or is it all just a coincidence 🤔
@@afrodeity369 You are correct, in Nigeria pidgin English there are mixtures of Portuguese, Latin, (Latin taught in schools those days), and of course, English. You see, these are the colonialists that dominated Nigeria during the colonialization of Africa!
@@TheDemouchetsREACTYou dey scatter my Dada... Dada is pidgin for dreadlocks.
Ghanaians can communicate with Nigerians with their respective versions of pidgin and they'd understand each other perfectly
Yass my Ghanaian cousin 🇳🇬❤
😊
Western Cameroon also and eastern part of Benin Republic.
na true talk my brother 💯🇳🇬❤️
Not true or u Ghanaians only understand the general pidgin spoken by Nigerians but u can never understand the delta, Edo and port Harcourt pidgin.
Nigeria 🇳🇬 has the best pidgin English it's very straight forward 😊
she's only treating the basics that anyone with an understanding of English can relate to but pidgin is contextually complex and can be very cryptic.
Oh please 😏😏 nope nope nope
Pidgin itself is Nigerian
The Monique movie is called Phat girls.
One thing about pidgin English is that there are no past tense or present continues tense, only present tense. Eg, there is never usage of the word: came or comes. There can only be the word: come. The construction of the sentence determines whether the sentence is present, past or present continues.
Eg. When you want to say: I came to your house, you say: I don come your house or I been come your house. When you want to come to the house, you say: I dey come your house, or I go come your house.
When you want to say he comes to your house, you say: he like dey come your house, or he dey always come your house.
Just know that all the verbs in pidgin English are in the present tense.
For clarification pants in Cameroon 🇨🇲 and Nigeria 🇳🇬 means undies, underwear 🩲 , while trousers means pants 👖
THIS LADY IS FIRE IN NIGERIAN PIDGIN ENGLISH. 9/10 PERFORMANCE IF YOU ASK ME. SHE SHOULD BE PROUD OF HERSELF.
in Nigeria we have 2 different types of pidgin, the common pidgin and the Warri pidgin, Warri is a large city in delta state Nigeria am from, the way we speak pidgin in Warri is different from the way other people speak theirs
She sure has Nigerian blood. Her expression and context to the pidgin is apt. Your Oga bam too. (your husband is good too)
nigerian pidgin can be use in different way for example 'you go chop?' =
'you go chao? (will you like to eat)'
'you go wack?,
'wetin you go chao (what will like to eat)'
bla bla... depending on where you are and how fluent the person you are speaking to is
'you dey ment??' (are you mad??)
The Monique movie is Phat Girlz. And the African Queen song is by 2face Idibia
Demouchets, you were correct by saying ...I dey close to work! Correct! Meaning you are now close to your work location.
Scatter my dada. Dada means dreads just like your husband's hairstyle. Means your beauty scatter my dreads
I surely was saying data😂
"I dey close to work" translates to "I'm close to work" or "I'm close to my place of work"
Nice one 👍
You guys are so much fun. You guys are vibing very well to Pidgin. "Una dey vibe well to pidgin"
Here is the history of pidgin English in Nigeria, during the medieval period, Portuguese had contacts with local people precisely the Edos in the coastal areas. The son of the of the Oba (king) of Benin (Edos) was sent to Portugal to be educated. The interactions between Edo People and Portuguese, and the arrival of the British for occupation and colonialism in the 18th century also played a role in formation of Nigerian pidgin English. Nigerian pidgin English is the combination of Portuguese language , English language and loca language.
Absolutely ❤️
Not just Edo, the Itshekiris, Urhobos, Ijaws, most ot the Niger Delta had early contact with the oyibos- eg the Olu of Warri over 500 years ago sent his son to Portugal for education and as an ambassador, he returned with a white woman. Hetook a Portuguese name Dom Domingo- there's a school named after him in Warri till today
Thank you for sharing!
Brilliant. Though i prefer to call it Naija Pidgin rather than Pidgin English. We also have French influence on our Pidgin. A good example is Boku, which means plenty which is derived from the French word Beaucoup
The Prince who was sent to study in Portugal was the son of the Olu of Warri and not Oba of Benin.
He was the son of Akengbuwa the 1st. He was Christened by the Portuguese, Dom Minigos
Yo! That's my Girl Mabel. It's so cool to see you guys reacting to her video and i must say, you guys are really picking up on the pidgin, una dey try, well done oo .

The Naija pidgin English is familiar with the Gullah broken English of the countryside of the southern Carolina in the US

When your loosing or disappointed, you don’t say oya now, you say ahahn now😂😂😂 ahahn is like an exclamation for shock or dissatisfaction
This lady is a badass , she can adapt easily
Her pigeon isn't perfect. "Wetin you for like chop" or "wetin you for wan chop"
African queen's music is sung by 2face., "Oya now" means Come on now! or Oya now we no get time means Come on now we don't have time. I guess AA ebonic would be, "We don't got no time "Say the street food is 2oo Naira and u speak with an American accent or British accent lol then it's a wrap the price will shoot all the way. so u better learn pidgin English lol
😂😂,,,, my best reaction couple

Cameroon pidgin is similar to Sierra Leone pidgin in may respects, but Nigerian pidgin is intelligible to Cameroonian and Sierra Leonean pidgin speakers and vice versa
She always gets it right with her samples.....
Man you gat work on yours too
14:12 Demochets pidgin dialect session.

Pidgin English has rules and regulations like real English.
I am coming = In Pidgin is I dey com
Will you come?--------------una go com?
Are they coming? ---------dem go com?
we are eating ---------------we dey eat.
Accent! Accent!! Accent!!! Is where the spice is. You should pay attention to the accent. The rest is easy to figure out. O in Oga sounds like O in Or with a down stress of O 👍❤️Una dey try well well (You guys are doing very well)👏👏👏 I'd like to say I love how Black Americans move their bodies to stress that they like or love something or someone. Its almost like dance moves along with ooooh yeah!😂😂😂😂
Haha we will talk with our hands, necks, face impressions, everything! lol
16:05 Wow Sierra has the emotions down though...okay 👍🏾
Your beauty They scatter my DADA. Dada means dread-lock hair in Nigeria. So dada is dreadlocked
Oga, your love dey scatter my dada, dada means dreads.but in all honesty, your wife is almost 80 percent getting .
I wish u could see how south south speak deir pidgin English , is jus too different from normal pidgin , they have slangs attached to theirs ,but we still understand it,
Hi the Demouchets, I sent a request about a week or more and Ivery been seriously checking your videos every minute to see if you guys reacted to it. I know you got tons of requests but I thought the one I sent would have gotten some time. Anyways, I'm anticipating your reaction on the video which is about Nigerians building huge mansions without spending a day in them
We just got to it. Look for it tomorrow, family.
He actually has dada
I dey close to work is actually correct
The lady is learning very fast
13:13 You have to say it with heavy tones dion. What you said would fly but say it heavier.
10:54 Dion understood that one . Interesting point that Dion raised- you take pidgin literally as you hear it. That way it is easier to understand. Don't think about it too much l o l
I de close to work is still right bro
I dey close to work is correct
The way you say the 'oga' is important. The way she says it means ' serious ' in Yoruba
14:12 nah I’m dead😭 it’s uh (or) gah not ogre😭
I feel like this is basic basic pidgin sha😂
I think you were referring to the movie " Fat lady" by D' monique
Phat girlz
