Nice to be given all those bits and bobs. Good to catch up with your video on the new Forever bike whilst sitting in atent at a festival in the rain waiting to start working in the morning hopefully rain stops.
@@motorcyclerescuer True, but the initial reading will hold solid after you finish cranking even if the valves were bad. The check valve in the dial will hold it, even if you unscrew the tester from the cylinder.
I did adjust the valves after this and I think it was definitely part of the fix. So far spark plug and valve adjustment has made some progress. Cheers
Charlie , could it be stuck rings in the CB. Have you tried a solvent down the plughole . Once you get the cylinder firing , the heat often frees them xxx
The compression went up with oil down the cylinders. I've pulled the head just to be sure. I've actually just received the new piston rings and gaskets. Might get them on Saturday if I get a few hours
Which one Lee. Sadly I'm out of oil and funds at the moment. I won't change the oil in the red bike as that's the owners responsibility. But the Fazer I definitely will if it ever fires up. I'll change the cb200 oil aswell if the rebuild is successful. Cheers mate
@@motorcyclerescuer am sure will get there, it popped and banged i would check the time before taking head off, but those little chinese 125 are fairly easy to take to top ends off,, good luck

Oh wow, sounds terrible and great all at the same time glow. I hope it clears up for you mate
I fiddled around with my ksr grs for hours turns out it turns over but with the side stand down it just doesn’t fire up
Yes that's correct with most bikes. The side stand switch kills spark.
Mine is disconnected though so not an issue. I did double check though lol.
At least the spark plug change got it firing Charlie,i reckon its the valve timing as you and a few others mentioned
That's exactly what I thought Derek. No matter what else I changed I don't think it would have worked until the plug was changed aswell
Great vid Charlie, cheers...
Cheers Les. I think the next vid on Thursday shows the first Fazer start up attempt.
Hi Charlie, those compression testers have a one way check valve in them so would hold the reading regardless of the state of the valves.
My my theory is that the reading wouldn't be high with either a cracked valve or badly seated valve?
@@motorcyclerescuer True, but the initial reading will hold solid after you finish cranking even if the valves were bad. The check valve in the dial will hold it, even if you unscrew the tester from the cylinder.
@motorcyclejunkie7564 oh I see. That's good to know Carl. I didn't even consider that.
Cheers mate
@@motorcyclerescuer We’re all here to learn off each other mate, picked up loads of tips watching your channel. 👍
My skills are all from messing up over the years.
Defo sounds like timing or valves

Check the regulator is for that bike & in good order ie wiring.
It's up and running now Daniel. I changed the spark plug, set the valves and put a brand new carb on.
@@motorcyclerescuer not much then lol
Lol, I know right. To be fair the valves may or may not have been needed.
But definitely a carb and plug was.
Finally getting the time to catch up.. im well behind!
So am I mate. I'm away next week so won't put up vids for a week but also haven't really done any filming
Good to see you receive a nice little bounty box. I think the timing might be out slightly.
In the end it needed a new plug, valve adjustment and a new carb.
Running well now thankfully.
Cheers Ryan

i've got carbed grs aswell do you know what air filters fits on it?
You should find the specific air filter on ebay or Google. They are different for different models
What socket did you use to the spark plug out iv tried but the frame is in the way
I do remember it being tight. I dropped the spark plug socket down first then added the extension at a weird angle. Just about made it work
@@motorcyclerescuer thanks mate I’m struggling with mine not checked the plug since iv had it
I do remember it being awkward. But I did manage it somehow and don't have many specialist tools. Hopefully you get it out.
Hi Charlie, did you know the Fazer, at it's last mot in 2016 it had done 148,800 miles, I just had a look on the mot records site.
It's had a replacement engine with around 30k on it. The mot will take its readings from the clocks
🏍👍👍
Cheers Stephen.
Fazer fire up attempt in next vid on Thursday hopefully.
Get fresh oil in the other bike it might have water in it. If Become watered down that will impact compression.

What I do - i have a cheap car battery in the garage keep it charged and it starts bikes al day long
That's a good idea. I used to do that but having no power at the garage made it hard to carry it home for charge.
I may get one of the modern charge at home jump starters. It could be handy
I’m with u with that naff top box it’s well ugly
I'm not keen on any back boxes unless it's a bigger touring bike
@@motorcyclerescuer 👍
hi charlie thats a compression tester not a leak down gauge, hence the button that will release gauge pressure,
My theory is that if the valves are cracked or unseated that the compression wouldn't build up?
@@motorcyclerescuer am sure will get there, it popped and banged i would check the time before taking head off, but those little chinese 125 are fairly easy to take to top ends off,, good luck
@sinorman231 so far it's had a new spark plug, valves set and a brand new carb. And it is running well now Si.
Cheers mate
