Mick is so handsome and such an endearing, humble personality. Best guitarist ever. Love you Mick.😘
Agree Teresa 110% !!! 💫💫💫
Handsome is right.
That phone ringing 2:00 is Mick jagger still begging for Mick Taylor to come back
pmsl. Either that or Clapton just sobered up and was ringing to tell John he was hungover and wouldn't be at the college gig tonight lol
+Steve Bell it was NOT a hangover...he was secretly rehearsing with Cream...!
Hahaaa
keep on rollin 79 😂😂👍
Yes asaloutley.
I got to see him in Atl. Ga. back around 2001 he & A.J. Croce. After the show John Mayall came out & actually talked to the fans at the show, he talked to me my brother & sister for 45mins he was the nicest famous person i ever meet & talented.
ALOHA: .... OMG ..... GREAT .... what a treat to watch ..... MAHALO JOHN for such GREAT music over the years ..... got to see you three times here on Maui over the years ...... aloha ..... oh, & Mick ...... 😀🥲
I saw Mick at a small bar in Philadelphia called The Tin Angel. I stayed for both shows and it was one of the greatest musical moments of my life.
Wow !! ..I missed that , but caught Richie havens there !! ..
Mick T was still only 34 years old when this was done! Already been through the ringer.
This is great, I can see Mick Taylor smiling.
I'm 50 and he's the most handsome. And so polite and sweet. He's humble
What a beautiful smile and speaking voice Mick has. He and John are very patient with the frikkin ignorant interviewer who had not done any homework.
Alison my thoughts exactly. This kid was horrible doing this interview. Maybe nerves...who knows.
Mick Taylor, wonderful personality and guitar genius!
Met him in Atlantic City...great guy
But so frustrating for fans that he didn't make a career to match his talent!!
@@petermills542 I agree
@@Switcha44
Stones '60' Tour.
I wouldn't be too surprised if he plays a part in that, like the 50th !!?
Hyde Park maybe?
“Blues from Laurel Canyon”….A must have Album
Best thing is hearing zero "rock star" bullshit. M Taylor listens hard to the questions and gives an honest answer every time. These guys talk how they play. So refreshing.
Mick Taylor is my favorite lead stones guitarist and he was an excellent replacement for Brian Jones. I love his solo performance in can't you hear me knocking. The stones played their best music when Mick Taylor was their lead guitarist
Their very best includes Beggars Banquet & Let It Bleed (which was all but finished when Mick T joined!)
Agree 100%. Been a fan since I was 6 (1967) and he was perfect for the way they were going In that era you needed a strong lead guitarist and Brian’s magical sounds of the 1960s could never resonate the same again. He took them to a different style along with Keith’s Gram Parsons influence.
@@petermills542 yeah Banquet was great Brian was brilliant on No Expectations. In my opinion sadly his last but not least contribution. He never killed the slide ( a la Johnny Winter / i like winter too) he just played it nice and smooth. Listen to little Red rooster. Anyhow Taylor shone like a new sound for the Stones especially live ( Get yer Ya Yas Out) you would expect no less from the guy who replaced Peter Green in Blues breakers ( Green replaced Clapton) Peter Green wrote Black Magic Woman when he as in Fleetwood Mac.
Back to the Beggars Banquet thing. They hired producer Jimmy Miller for that after not doing great producing Satanic Majesties themselves. Which I actually love at the time it didn’t do great. Jimmy Miller also produced Let it Bleed , Sticky Fingers , Exile on Main Street and Goats Head Soup then in 1974 the Glimmer Twins (Mick and Keith ) produced the next album, It’s Only Rock n Roll.
Very gifted guitarist, and a good looking man as well!
The Stones were at their best live with Mick Taylor
The 1973 tour Taylor was indeed on fire....lol!
Its impossible to match Mick Taylor's Talent and stage performance presences.
@@cliffnote7058 that tour was insane and wild...the stones went more faster assault mode on the stones than metal guys or glam rockers. It was crazy.
The best stones where in the 60,s
Mick Taylor seems like a very patient person especially with those who interview him. His relationship with John Mayhall appears to be quite good. I think that its very positive for both guys which I find refreshing. Taylor's guitar has always made those he played with even better.
Obviously a great guitarist, but Mick Taylor speaks beautifully here. And what a lovely smile. He's got something about him for sure!!
Mick Taylor added a Charisma to the stones apart from his excellent guitar playing, he enchanted his audience.
I'm enchanted still !!! 💫💫💫
Very best of the Stones music was when he was there.
how do you leave the Rolling Stones?
@@paulvon2378 I always wondered if Keef was jealous of Mick's skills. Or maybe they just didn't give him enough room to improvise and show his real skills.
Mr. Taylor seems so humble and unassuming here.
Rest in peace, Mr. Mayall! He was more laid back and seemed very personable. Mick Taylor seemed very comfortable around him during the interview.
Amen
It's great to see here that John was like a bigger brother to Mick. John noticed his talent when Mick was just a kid filling in some pretty big shoes of actually
two fantastic guitarists. It was also John who got in contact with The Stones
to give Mick Taylor a shot when Brian Jones died. Mick Taylor will always be one of my favorite guitar players and should be credited more for all the work he has done in his career. But we the Mick Taylor fans know how great he is. Never
really a gymnastic type of player but the notes were always right, melodic, and soulful feel more like a singer taking you on a journey with his guitar.
Amazing to get up on stage at 15 to play Claptons parts, even John Mayall still thinks so here.
17
@@petermills542 he was been humble not mentioning the first gig, he always has been like that.
16 and where his courage met his mojo confidence is amazing!!!
Mick Taylor is cut from a different cloth 💫💫💫
He mentioned here he was either 15 or 16 lol (Proceeds to play on Eric’s guitar!)
MT 's legacy will live a long long time.
Yes.
He obviously gets along with John Mayall much better than with Keith Richards!
Mmm of course because keith was't nice with him
Thank you for posting.
This made my afternoon.
I could listen to MT read the telephone book with that accent.
Kate.
His accent is British ' Home Counties ' . Hertfordshire.
Great interview, hadn't seen this. Around the time this was shot, he was playing a tour with Bob Dylan. I remember being dragged to one of these concerts at the old Wembley Stadium in London, and I was dreading it - I wasn't a folk music fan and I thought Dylan's voice was terrible. I escaped from my friends to the concession stands at the back of the stadium as we were waiting for his set to start. I remember hearing the band start playing as I was buying a hot dog - All Along the Watchtower - it was STUNNING! Mick Taylor was totally knocking it out of the ballpark (er... soccer field) with his incredible fluid playing. Great and underrated guitarist!
All along the watchtower with Mick Taylor sounds mad
I would not say that he was underrated; he's widely acknowledged as the best guitarist the Stones ever had. Very celebrated for his talent.
Such a cool sense of humour
I saw the bluesbreakers in 1980 I got my bluesbreakers album signed the one with Mick Taylor on it. Like a Dodo brain I sold it a couple years back!
First got into Mayall with the bare wires album in 68/9 Taylor was on that album and had such an impression I took up playing then reverted back to Clapton and Green Jeff Beckalso played a major role at that time.
Terrific interview, really enjoyable, great to hear john mayall !
Mick Taylor added lustre to whoever he played with. Blues from Laurel Canyon is a great album. He played on the best Stones discs.
My favorite Mayall album , I still listen to it often.
Such a nice guy and my fav guitarist.
This is great I never found a longer interview of Taylor....i feel for the man broke and with a fornomanial talent
'fornomanial'......genius.
I saw Mick Taylor and Buddy Guy here in Montreal in 1990ish. At Theatre St.Denis. It was great. Small venue real close and great sound.
Great interview! Thanks for posting!!!
What beatiful period when was possible to smoke on stage and during the interwiew!
What could be nicer than seeing Mick Taylor with a tube in his nostrils a few years from now?
@@meatwad1 Terrible image, but you're right. Hope he stays in good health.
Is it just me or is he one handsome dude?
And, a gentleman.
Taylor on Blues from Laurel Canyon by Mayall is amazing ;P
Yes love it i love walking on sunset inparticuler awesome album.
We all smoked. How soon we forget. I love you Mick Taylor - Followed your career as best I could.
I Agree that Mick Taylor would not have been broke if he had stayed with the stones I guess some musicians don't play music just for the money. As long as he's happy that's all that matters. Sometimes it's not always about the money. But I still wished that he had stayed with the stones and grew old with them. I guess it's true that you can't always get what you want but if you try sometimes you just might find, you get what you need.
Was he ever broke...?
I think he'd have been dead, from drugs, if not for the wherewithal to get out.
god this man
What a charmer
He was the best guilt he Stones ever had
My dad used to go hear Albert King at the T-99 club!
I wish there was video of the Kansas City show that he indicated he played with The Stones on the 1980 tour. I had no idea that had happened. Must have been some interesting tension in that show.
He played on and off with the Stones after he officially left them. Both in studio and on tour.
priceless....
'Guitarist needed to replace Peter Green' 😊 ... sleeping in trees obviously pays out later in life .. well humoured and unassuming true musicians . so good listening 🌻♥️
He. Came for a concert that summer.Mick Taylor was in the band too
One can't help compared him to Eric. His playing style for example in driving sideways is so much like Hideaway. Mick Taylor in my estimation was a confident player but certainly under the Dark Shadow of God
I believe Mick Taylor's wife said that if he hadn't have left the stones he would have died from alcoholism .
Mick has said as much himself later on.
Alcoholism? I thought he was a heroin addict. I guess he was both. I'm glad he's alive now though.
You know 17yr old Mick T was getting more tail than Frank Sinatra.
Looks so like Richard Beckinsale at times !
Talyor kinda looks like another british guitarist , tony hicks from the hollies .
I wish i went to dinner with mick taylor.
Talk about hand of fate
Who is the guitar player being interviewed?
retrorex Mick Taylor
Edwin Mena He seems a little smug.
Jacob Brookman he should be! He earned it!
He is a very symphatic person .
Devil's Advocate ぇ
If this interviewer was any better he'd grip my shit.
John Mayall not singing.....Thankyou.
I read that Mick Taylor is in financial troubles and the Rolling STones won’t give him the monies he is entitled to !
Mick is really superb - just - plea don't sing, man. Don't ever sing. Even in the shower. Just don't... y'know, ever...
Took a lot of balls but it paid off!
Mick Taylor wouldn't be so broke if he stayed with the Stones. Smart guitar player..stupid business man.
I don't think it was a business decision so much as a personal decision to save his life, as well as preserving his kind of musical integrity. It's not smart for addicts to hang around other addicts shooting up together. It was the best decision Taylor could've made. He didn't even get off the stuff until much later, certainly he would've lost his life had he not bailed.
Yes asaloutley.
Being a Heroin addict is not being a stupid business man.He had to leave to save his life end of story.
MT should be given the royalties for his guitar contributions on a baker’s dozen of classic Stones numbers. It doesn’t look right when you see Jagger&Richards on Time Waits for No One, Winter ...!?
don't do the Beans Oil brought around more than once or you'll be listening to it,
