The mic placements being different is the first thing that I saw. This is not a fair and accurate presentation of any differences between the two models. The dlx does sound better to my ears in this comparison as shown but I'd bet that if mic placement were exactly the same for both guitars they would likely sound much closer to being the same.
Really like the sounds of both, but leaning towards the depth of the DLX in this video. I just picked up the Standard a few days ago (purchased online), and should have it next week. $999 v $1499, and my level of playing was the decision maker. I'm creeping out of "beginner" mode, some might disagree after hearing me play..lol. Anway, I'm sure I'll get many great years out of my 214ce-k standard, so stoked either way. Thanks for the videos guys!!
I have the 214ce Deluxe..... LOVE IT!!! Almost went with a Martin OO, but considering that I live 2 blocks away from the Taylor US Factory/Custom Shop, I knew Taylor was my choice. Damn glad I did!! This guitar sounds amazing... plays beautifully.... and stays in tune like no acoustic I’ve ever seen! I plan on ultimately getting a Martin D-48 ($8k! Ouch)... but this Taylor 214ce- Deluxe will always stay right by my side!
I love my GS Mini, but these guitars sound very nice as well. Man, It would take me many hours to decide which one I like more because they both have such a unique tone. Thank you both. I will keep watching and listening. 👍🏻👍🏻✌🏼
Just bought a lovely deluxe with figured ovankol back and sides. I’m very pleased with it. It has an almost flamed maple look across the back and sounds terrific to my ear. It’ll do me for a very long time with any luck😊
The Dlx sounded better... At least the way the mics recollected the sounds shows that... I just bought the regular version yesterday and this made me suffer
Isn't this really a Koa vs. Rosewood comparison? They both look like Deluxe models with glossy back and sides. Standard should have a satin top. (I know because I'm waffling on standard vs. deluxe.)
@@tearitloosetearitloose4670 All standards have a satin finish. Thats why they are priced lower. I have a 214ce standard with Koa back and sides and satin spruce top. The whole guitar is satin like all standards..Watched many videos & did a lot of research before I bought mine. the plus & DLX have gloss tops.
214ce Standard: Crunch, Light.
214ce Dlx: Deep, Rich.
@@myRUclipsChannel31 we appreciate the feedback and are working on dialing in the mic rig for the best balance!

Great response! Thank you for sharing. Your journey is a very common one. Sounds like you have the right tool for the job. Enjoy!
Listen man... The standard is a lovely guitar. Enjoy!!

Thank you for the comment.
@@Theupperbout The 214ce Deluxe has more crisper tone. But the 214ce Koa has more sustain and mellow.
Same guitar I brought review :

Like the depth of the dlx.
We do too!
Clint Pletcher Sounds even better in person! I was skeptical about the layered Rosewood back and sides. But it sounds amazing!
I have the 214ce dlx version too very great guitar
The Rosewood had a much more dull and warm sound.
Love Taylors. I play my GSmini more than my Martins
Guys, could you share the chords Noahs playing?
Bmaj7 to Amaj7 to Gmaj7 and then occasionally right after that Gmaj7 I throw in Gbaug/F#aug
Theres not koa layered On 214ce's on Taylor website
www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/acoustic/214ce-k-dlx-0
The Taylor website says they are both layered rosewood back and sides.
I think the left one is a 214ce-Koa
The Dlx sounded better... At least the way the mics recollected the sounds shows that...

The standard has a glossy top with matt back and sides. Deluxe is the guitar on your right
