Bro. I'm being serious. Your videos are great. If I didn't have a 17 SR already this would have pushed me into getting an electric bike. Keep it going man.
Haha thanks so much man! Your support really has helped me keep making these videos :) Before changing the seat and tank, I took your advice and went for a 2-up ride with my wife to talk about what Zeros are like with passengers, but the audio was messed up. We might narrate over it sometime, just to get it finished.
I love how you use AR overlays to show where the components are on the bike as you're describing them. I've not seen any other youtubers using this and I feel like it's a really useful tool!
Smiley Jenn Math Time! Haha. Such a great video. Very entertaining and educational. Hey, nice charger cover. :D Keep up the excellent work, sir. ::thumbsup::
Thanks for this video...I have a 2017 Zero DSR and was going to purchase the charge tank this year, but unfortunately ZERO stopped selling them and now the 2018 version are not backwards compatible, plus they need to be factory installed, so double road block there. However, I love riding my Zero and would love to be able to do longer trips by making charge times faster, so I've been looking for other alternatives and found your video! Is there a step by step guide out there showing how to do what you just did with your bike. I'm not an expert, but I was able to successfully install the side cases on my own, so I was wondering how that compares to installing these 3rd party chargers. Any help would be appreciated as Zero seems to have left all 2017 and earlier models high in the dust when it comes to being able to improve charging time.
Thanks for watching! Aw man, I didn't know you couldn't buy charge tanks still. These chargers are super easy to install. All the cables are either color-coded or shaped in a way that you can only plug certain connectors together. Brandon at DigiNow can walk you through it and explain what everything does. I'd make a how-to video but I don't want to step on anyone's toes or spread mis-information.
I'll second that. I got a 2016 SR in early 2017 fully expecting to add a Charge Tank and do some touring (in Australia). Just in time to find out there was no way to get a Charge Tank. 😱😭😤 I am *so* pumped to find out there's another, even faster, option!
So is it possible to put all three diginow chargers in the belly pan and NOT have to modify the belly pan any by simply removing the stock charger? If so that would be great, I have been wondering this before I buy one.
Daniel Farmer apparently you can fit them in there if you use spacers. The pan would sit about 2cm lower because these chargers are taller than the onboard.
If zero quit selling the 6kw charge tank, than why is it still on their website available for 2015-2019 DSR as well as other models? Also says they are dealer installed, not factory installed.
Cool video. It has been several years now. How have these chargers worked out for you? Any issues/complications? Would you recommend doing this? How much did it cost? 🙂
Unfortunately they don't sell these anymore. I had lots of problems with them, and Zero has stopped honoring battery replacements if you have these chargers on the bike.
Since diginow is exclusively utilized for zeros, they might as well sell the custom tank. Or at least publish some reliable cad files so ppl can order somwhere else. The 3d printing really is the biggest hurdle for regular modders.
I should have been clear.. 2 chargers fit easily, and it IS possible to squeeze in 3 of them under the factory tank. I just had a bit more freedom because I wanted to do something different. I think if you wanted to keep the original tank + storage area, putting them in the belly pan would be the way to go, and it sounds like those kits will be made in the near future.
Hi, I have a Zero S, but with the big problem that I've to change the internal charger for the fourth time!! Do you have met also this problem? Zero said that this is a weak link and they working on it.. But changing 4 times in one month is a big issue for me.. So I was interested if you have also some problems with this.. Greetings from Belgium
4 times in one month?? Sounds like something else might be wrong with your bike.. but definitely removing that slow onboard charger and using diginows is a way better choice :D Or.. hey, you're in Belgium! Trade your Zero for a Sarolea haha!
I m happy with the bike, just need to solve this problem. Error code 20 and 28 on the dashboard.. it has also factory installed chargetank.. will definitely have a look on the Digi, but hopefully there is room/space enough if I remove the internal charger from Zero and swap a Digi instead..
Oh whoa, that's weird. Those error codes are definitely related to your charger. Try removing the one under your battery and see if it goes away. Then you should be able to use the chargetank to charge the bike, hopefully!
@@NewZeroland interesting. I know a friend who moved to Geelong (sp?) in Aussie and loves it there. My '16 Zero SR came yesterday from Maryland, so already looking at the diginow conversion or possibly just sticking to a 6.6 charge tank since money isn't really an issue for me, plus .. plenty of other mods that might work as well. Excited, because its my FIRSt bike ever - just got a steal on it, so jumped over the 250cc since i can ride in ECO. Great content, and with my IT background may give a go at the digi-pan upgrade. Pecking at your content when I can, but the driver test is coming up in June and taking the advanced tests soon. I am installing Level 2 in the garage, so next purchase upgrade will bring goodies ...
@@pinkeye00 whoa, awesome! Congrats on the purchase :D Great choice going electric with your first bike. Welcome to the future!! I'd say a Zero charge tank is way better and more reliable (also they don't make DigiNow chargers anymore). The charge tank is easier to use. You really just plug and play. Have fun with your new bike and thanks for watching!

Also. Your wife and you make a hell of a team.

Oh yeah thanks! Just some basic camera tracking. I'm not very good 😂
I cannot wait to buy one! Your vids helped me in so many ways to make my decision! Keep up the good work!
Ronald B nice!! That's so awesome to hear, man. I love these bikes, and the DigiNow chargers make them so much better.
Ronald B
you will NOT regret it!
You guys are so under-rated! Nice job explaining this whole electricity stuff lmfaoo
Thanks for watchin! Glad it made sense haha.

Great video Sam, looking forward to the test ride vid!
Thanks for watching!

So jealous! I don't have the skills to do that myself, but it would answer my prayers to find a 9.9 kw charger
Haha thanks. They were insanely easy to install. Just a matter of unbolting the tank and plugging them in :)

Oh boy oh boy!!
9.9 kw dude im between impressed and jealous :/ hehe Nope i realy enjoy your upgrades. Maybe some day you change the motor with some ~300Nm one :D
Hahaha I'm all over that.
diginow is only available in the uk?
Sadly they aren't available for Zeros at all anymore.

Yep!
