Angela just passed away today. She was a bright light in this dark world we live in. I am so grateful to have known her and to be able to call her family. She is my mom’s cousin. The whole family is an incredible example to me. She will continue to bless everyone around her on the other side. I am glad she isn’t in pain anymore, but am so sad to lose her in this life. We need more people like her.

Angela lived in Bavaria for a time when she and her husband were first married. My elder sister was born in Landshut. She would love to know that this episode reached back to a country she loved!

I love the intent in this show and the people are usually very deserving but this one masks the real issues that a fantasy like this covers up. Autoimmune diseases are not well understood and likely are caused by or exacerbated by stress and they impact western women far more so than any other group and the incidences are skyrocketing. The irony of this story is this woman's complete devotion to others is probably exacerbating her symptoms and the cause of the illness is almost certainly early life trauma and the stress of trying to live up to the demands of being a modern woman. Encouraging girls without money to want to be rich is irresponsible. These hyper expensive high school events are indefensible as is the drive for women to want to be princesses. A princess is a girl. It's fine for women to want to be dolled up and pampered from time to time which seems to be based on DNA in some way but modern life has totally skewed it in a way that likely is contributing to autoimmune disease. These girls need to learn that seeking material wealth, possessions, glamour, fame and fantasy is not a healthy way to live. Girls need to be empowered rather than pampered and glamorized. And this woman needs to meet her own needs and to stop trying to fix the problems of others. Or to at least strike a healthier balance. She might be shocked at what this does for her autoimmune condition which is almost certainly not genetic, an accident, bad luck or random. And it probably is curable. Just not by doctors and drugs.

As her daughter, it’s too bad you misunderstood her intent and her mission. I hope you’re able to find happiness and joy throughout your life, just as my mother found happiness and joy throughout service and the Cinderella Project.

What a sad response to such an incredible thing, at least she is being a community hero and helping out rather than hiding behind a screen and pretending to be a keyboard warrior and doctor. Grow up and learn compassion. I hope you realize what it is to think outside of yourself one day and appreciate an act of kindness

@@bobduncan348 What an insulting comment. You prove my point. You spew a whole bunch of stereotypes. The truth is these balls are fantasy that only act to distract people away from the hard work of living. And autoimmune diseases are in fact caused or triggered by lifestyle in some cases - and probably most cases - and are increasing exponentially among women which means they are life-style triggered. So you miss my whole point. It isn't about avoiding kindness or hiding behind a screen. You know nothing about my connections with people nor why I say what I do. Propping poor girls up by spending thousands of dollars for one night of pretend play is not healthy. And when the woman leading it is harming her own health by propping up others this is wrong. And the real reason is illustrated by your response. We are trained to honor and revere these people without actually thinking about the harm this behavior MIGHT be causing. MIGHT. I point out the downside of these fantasies. Which is real.
The helper professions are full of people with physical and mental challenges mainly because they don't take care of themselves first. Certainly you can do both. It need not be a choice. But one of the most unhealthy aspects of women is the need to be a princess. You might consider reading Montessori on this subject. Or more recently Maté.
Your superficial response strikes me as sad and shallow. If this woman helped girls learn life skills, financial skills, job skills or otherwise acted as a mentor I would be much more willing to praise her efforts. Helping broke girls pretend to be rich for a night only compounds the reality that being rich is a fantasy. Of course, being rich is not the point nor should be the goal. But being financially healthy and independent should be. Dressing up is not helping anyone.
