We just witnessed a pro livestreamer bring it to a whole other level! 😁 The Daimyo really appreciate the effort and care you and Kanae take. That beer was well earned! Thank you so much! 🙏👍
Thank you John for doing this live stream. I was in Hiroshima just a month ago! Watching this brought back a lot of nice memories. I stayed in a hotel just next to the Hiroshima station. Japanese people are generally polite and helpful. Japan is so organised and clean too. I especially like the transport which is so efficient! I managed to take the Hello Kitty Shinkansen from Hiroshima to Osaka. Love that ride! Saw your earlier live stream. I would recommend to go to the Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims near the museum and watch the video there. I had an insight to the bombing and people affected by it. I felt sad that it had happened but encouraged by those who survived. I would also recommend staying overnight in Miyajima Seaside Hotel. It has an onset and the service there was great! I would definitely visit Japan again!
I was there this time last year to catch Shinkansen back to Narita Airport. We had the fortune to meet the travellers aid people. I think these are people who donate their time to help tourists. The lady that helped us was just fantastic. She walked with us from one end of the station to the other so she could show me where to buy a english newspaper. It was a little shop outside the south side entrance. Nazomi green car is just the best way to travel and a great way to finish our holiday. Had to change at Tokyo and get on the airport train. Hiroshima Is a great place to visit. Had a great okonomiyaki just new the atomic dome. There was a huge street festival of a night time as well. Just loved Japan Just loved Japan
Seeing this in 23 because I'm going to take this Shinkanen in November 13th and it did not disapoint! Thanks for this awesome video!! A fan from Brazil 🌎🌴⚽
Loved Hiroshima. We found the city so beautiful, the people extremely friendly. We thought we our daughter had booked us a hotel in Miyajima, so we caught the train to Miyajimaguchi, walked through the subway to the ferry terminal, and got to Miyajima within 15 minutes. When we got there, we asked for our hotel and they told us that it was in Miyajimagushi, where we'd just come from and it was next-door to the Ferry Terminal!. We had to wait 45 minutes for the next ferry. The hotel, Miyajima Coral was really nice and our room had the best view. So, the next day after breakfast and caught the ferry to Miyajima. The cable car was really worth the fear of heights!
Loved the vid - I´ll be travelling from Kyoto to Hiroshima, God willing, but had no idea how to navigate once getting there but with this wonderful info - I´´ll make it for sure- Appreciate it. Blessings
When we went there just this March of 2019, there’s a hop on/hop off bus (colr red) that can bring you around Hiroshima’s tourist spots including A-bomb dome and memorial park. What’s good abt it is, if you have JR Pass, then those red hop on/hop off buses are part of the network so it’s free. I love Hiroshima...
I had wondered how the Japanese dealt with the war. Visiting Hiroshima was such a pleasant surprise. As you say, there is a sense of moving on, having learned from the past in a good way. So wish other places would do the same! I swear I will get to see you live one of these days.
Ahhh memories... me and my friends had to spend the night in Hiroshima Station because we missed the last Shinkansen back to Osaka by about 15mins. We tried to find a capsule hotel or any hotel but there was also a big Hiroshima Carp game going on so everything was booked. We ended going out to eat and then back to the station where we slept for about 4 hours before taking a late night/sun rise walk around Hiroshima before the first Shinkansen left. At the time it kinda sucked but it's by far one of my best stories I tell my friends.
Hi, John. Do you have, or can you make, a video touring the Ochanomizu area in Tokyo? I read it's the ward with all universities, and it would be interesting if you explain us the history, architecture... Thanks!
I am really impressed by the cleanliness and well designed halls and technology in the Hiroshima station. wow. Only in Japan. I wanted to see how the cheese cake tasted, but the video ended.
Really enjoyed the video. I miss the train and train station culture of Japan. I haven't been to Hiroshima Station in like 4 or 5 years, so I can see how it's changed.
It should be noted that the South Entrance to Hiroshima Station doesn't appear to be rebuilt yet because they are about to do a *MASSIVE* renovation project where much of the South Entrance will be completely demolished and rebuilt, with the Hiroden trams moved up to an elevated station. This project won't be completed until 2025.
I really love your livestream from japenese train station. And since I'm a train enthusiast I'm happy that you're at least a bit interested in trains, too. :)
I live in Iwakuni but frequent Hiroshima. Never seen the Pagoda so thanks for the view! Hope you come back to Iwakuni next year for Friendship day or Sakura matsuri!
おつかれさま 35:30 ... you're a good man. things like that can really stress you out on a trip but you managed to keep a cool head and your spirits high 👍 haven't been to Hiroshima for a some years now. Probably going back in spring next year and I don't remember the station that well so this video was very helpful, especially with the modernized areas.
Streetcar is like the past visiting the present. That said, have to ride on it, maybe ride the whole route. My family and I arrived at our new base (Yokota) about 3 weeks ago, so there are lots of places we're going to visit; museums and such. We have 3 kids, all girls ( 4.5, 3, and an 11 month old) and we'll be here for several years. One of many reasons why I joined. To travel and stuff. Thanks for the vlog, John. Now, time for bed, gotta work tomorrow.
39:53 This was the one thing that drove me crazy in Japan. Hardly any escalators in train stations, which meant carrying my 20 kg suitcase as well as my backpack up and down the stairs.
@39:45 how did you know to go up the stairs that way? you were in car #12 but it doesn't say it on the sign. Are there signs on the platform showing where you need to wait for specific car numbers? Great video btw, I love your enthusiasm!
Real quick; wouldn't it be less expensive and quicker flying? Peach Airline flys there from Haneda I'm pretty sure. Don't get me wrong, love the Shinkansen, rode it from Shinagawa to Shin Osaka a couple of times. (Non reserved of course).
Depends. Can you get to the airport faster than Tokyo Station? Hiroshima Airport is really inconvenient. If you can get there FASTER from door to door, fly :)
No John, you haven't seen anything. I've carried like 8 notebook bags on me at once, so I know your pain. I suffered as well in Asakusa thanks to those dam stairs.
So momiji is.... what, maple leaves? Oh wait... don't tell me those bag straps say DONKI?????? Yes they DO!!!! ^o^ Surely the momiji snacks weren't from Don Quijote???? Next time I visit Singapore I'm looking for some DONKI tote bags... Way cooler than IKEA ones.
@@onlyinjapanGO I read this about the early problems they had with the shinkansen: "It seemed that when the shinkansen entered a tunnel at high speed, while its cars were pressurized to keep passengers' ears from feeling discomfort, the toilet cubicles were not. And the change in pressure -- equivalent to a three-meter high column of water -- caused the toilets to gush raw sewage.".. So I guess they did not solve this and had to let the car pressure fluctuate 😄
Does all JR station have a storage area like the one you showed? So I can leave my luggage at those lockers in Tokyo jr station and travel to another city. Come back and retrieve those luggage.
Sign overload. I see way too many signs and the stations do not stand out. They look like dept store or restaurants from the outside. I do like the antiseptic light grey general theme. I would have a hissy fit to pay $190 for one way trip on the shinkansen to Tokyo. But thanks for your efforts.

Hiroshima is my 2nd home! I’ll be back again, always ♪(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)♪
とても素敵なビデオです. ビジネスのために広島によく旅行します。 広島が大好き. ご苦労様でした.
Thank you for the introduction to Hiroshima eki. Every train catching episode is like "Run, Forrest, run!" but with greater desperation LOL!

The look in your eyes when you realise how much you have to carry..... priceless!
😹 it was quite an adventure!! Hahaha
Baggage trolley?
Thanks
John. Does the JR pass cover the return trip from Hiroshima to Osaka ? Thank you.
hiroshima is my second hometown ❤

Basque they look so good!!!! Hamster teeth!!! 🤣🤣
Hiroshima okonomiyaki how was that one John!!!!! ?
And that bento on the train back to Tokyo!!!! ♥️
41:16 hey, there's people say hi to you!!!
The going to the train with 2 tonnes of gifts and then running after the ekiben gave so much anxiety
That "how to use locker" button can be tricky!
John got some strength AND cardio work in :^)
I earned my dinner :)

What is the fried fish snack from hiroshima? Comes in individual packets. Looks deep fried?
What smartphone are you using to live stream?
okay missed this stream, watched the hiroshima memorial part
Hi John from sydney Australia
I hope you see this John
What if you lose the ticket for the locker?? I mean...it is just on paper....
if you use a JR pass you need to go to the counter for seat reservation! cant do the machines
No John, you haven't seen anything. I've carried like 8 notebook bags on me at once, so I know your pain. I suffered as well in Asakusa thanks to those dam stairs.
Right! Asakusa is rough for travelers with big suitcases! It’s almost a reason to take the bus to the city from Narita!
お弁当を食べるのを見たかったのに・・・
ほとんどの人は 列車の旅のそれを期待してます。

I got the bags there so I can carry all the stuff on the train - pretty strong!
They were ¥200 each so the IKEA ones are cheaper but I liked the size of these.
Do you feel it in the ears when the train goes through a tunnel?
No, I don’t feel it but maybe some people do.
@@onlyinjapanGO I read this about the early problems they had with the shinkansen: "It seemed that when the shinkansen entered a tunnel at high speed, while its cars were pressurized to keep passengers' ears from feeling discomfort, the toilet cubicles were not. Jolly Green not all but many, esp in the big cities and ones with many international tourists. I’m sure Tokyo has them too!
@@onlyinjapanGO is there a website listing which station have lockers available?
Now that's extreme YouTubing! You're so hardcore John!
What admission ticket for?
last 10 min soooo funny
is it more expensive to mail the daimyo from Hiroshima?
panathenaea I don’t have time and I’m adding in a few more goodies to the box 📦 I have to package them up add in a photo :)
@@onlyinjapanGO just watched you climb the stairs. I hope they appreciate the struggles ^^
@@panathenaea We definitely appreciate John's efforts! 😁
Next time, take a luggage with wheels which you can stuff with everything you buy.
わたし広島住んどるよ〜(^-^)

Shinkansen ticket is insanely expensive 😃. I prefer using plane
I’m that little girl that he saw
Shige K which one ?
How come there is no radiation still around from the Atomic weapons used in ww2 and people live in Nagasaki and Hiroshima ????
Sign overload. I see way too many signs and the stations do not stand out. They look like dept store or restaurants from the outside. I do like the antiseptic light grey general theme. I would have a hissy fit to pay $190 for one way trip on the shinkansen to Tokyo. But thanks for your efforts.
Hey buddy how are you doing
IT looks like Kyoto
Go go rabbit island. It is close go Hiroshima.
DOOD!
Google "Hiroshima 1945-Detroit 2015"
🤦♂️We need to watch Star Wars episode IV again John. Obi wan never told Like to “Stay on Target.” I will forgive you, because that’s what Jedi do.😂
Haha!! Right, that was on the squad leader. Have to get it right, I do.
