Your right, most people hunt southern Michigan. I hunt in Lake County and there aren't nearly the amount of hunters as there were 20 years ago. Saw hardly anybody this season outside of opening day. Kind of a double edged sword though. It's nice to have the woods to yourself but you need the hunters out there to push the deer around as well.
I remember going up to the family cabin in South central Kalkaska County when I was a kid. The sun would come up and all around the state planted Rye field there would be hunter orange. Started hunting there again a few years ago. I have yet to see another hunter while out, only seen a few drive by the cabin.
That’s crazy. It’s definitely changed a lot over the years. I don’t know if it’s deer numbers/location or what but I know license sales are way up 🤷♂️. So people are going somewhere.

Very true. I always like the idea of a lot of people taking part in outdoor activities, just not necessarily right next to me... with a gun. Haha
