I am 61 years old and I admire these boys and girls. I was a gymnast and a jumper (in the summer) and I know the joy of jumping. In Zadar, we had a 10 m diving board on the sea. One JNA soldier jumped, fell on his stomach and died while being taken out of the sea. Who from the building to the concrete. I know how dangerous it is, but also how tempting it is to jump. I also jumped from the cross on the "mast" of an empty tanker in the port of Gaženica near Zadar. I needed to be massaged for a few days to come to my senses. We were massaged by local girls. It was unrepeatable.❤

I get that they do feet first for safety reasons, but IT DOES NOT LOOK THE SAME AT ALL. It takes away from the amazing dives they do.

I hope we’ve got Greg Louganis on board again! I just started watching. I need access to a serious trampoline again. In a gym… (What was I thinking: “my home versions are worthless.” I have no home gyn like sone athletes do for off days, or well off newbies/amateurs (ho amateurs!) can afford. There’s also no substitute for the energy of others in the gym anyway!)

I don't know very much at all about diving from heights like this. But just a couple minutes into it I notice they all go in feet first. Is it just too dangerous to dive head first? I've heard diving from certain heights and maybe higher than this can be like hitting cement when you hit the water but I don't know. But this is really cool to watch. They are amazing. And this town or city is just beautiful.
I dove off something maybe 2/3 this height. It hurt my head pretty bad even with the flat palm approach. Half this height it doesn't hurt at all to dive. I've never jumped from this high. I feel like they could be diving but maybe Redbull has disallowed it so they don't have to deal with legal actions / bad publicity.
To hard to fast to go head first would snap your neck

How many people die competing in a cliff diving event? The TT averages two deaths every year. The year I attended, four men died. So, not even close.

I remember a time not so long ago when women weren’t allowed to compete in cliff diving, because it was considered too dangerous for them to handle. How times have changed!

Very old swimmer here / love diving. Did a little at 10U. (1m board only) At 3,5 & 10 meter dives, divers hit the water very hard. These heights are for all levels & abilities. Even jumping off a starting block for speed swimming can sprain a shoulder or your neck.
This is Not a Physiological reason - it's power & speed hitting the water. Water kills & that's without choking.

So it's cliff diving...but they don't actually dive. That's called cliff jumping.

why are women still a separate group when diving has no bearing on physical strength. Women want to be the same as men but use every opportunity to not compete with men on a level playing field like diving.
