@Randall Johnson Ah, you're the one person on technological Earth who has no trouble with a grabby AutoCorrect system. Strut your stuff, big boy!🙄👋
@Randall Johnson sorry about YOU'RE miserable life there buddy
I'm an auto transporter and have been to Point Roberts. Several years ago I picked up a couple of Rolls Royces from the '30s and took them to Los Angeles. One of the cars didn't run and the owner of the cars called the golf course manager who sent over 4 teenagers to help push the car on. Very friendly people. I got a kick out of being on the road with the US on one side and Canada on the other.
I'm going there in the near future God willing ....
Don't worry. He never stops anyone from doing anything they want to do. Seriously.

I am currently in Ethiopia but I will win DV 2022 in May and also love to see that part of US

Absolutely horrible! There needs to be an exception made for them!
Why should another country make exceptions for Americans? Nobody on earth treats people like we do at our borders. The coast gaurd ignores Canadian rights and abuses their boaters who fear being killed by out of control law enforcement jusr across the horizon.
It was interesting the teporyer wasnt concerned enough to interview Canadian officials or anyone else having to deal with our treatment of them. Just holding onto a sliver of what should be theirs while neglecting our own is a view of our attitude

At 4:56, did anyone else notice the gas price? This article was posted on March 7, 2021, but even at that time gas price would be higher than $0.66. WOW!
That's 0.669 USD per _liter_ . Multiply by 3.78541 to get USD per gallon. so it's 2.53 USD per gallon.
As of May 2023, that same Can-Am gas station sells it at 1.159 per liter or 4.39 per gallon.
4:56 Interesting to me that the gas is priced in liters even though this is in the US. I guess it’s to make it more attractive for Canadians to fill up on the American side by pricing in liters (making the price seem low) vs gallons which would make the price look real high to Canadians
So Canadians will come to bellingham wa and just stuff their cars full of gas, some will even fill up garbage cans full of gas and will buy up all the milk and dairy products in Costco because its so much cheaper here.
@@13craj yeah I know that's what I said its cheaper

I've been watching lots of Twilight Zone episodes lately and this sounds like something taken right from the creative mind of Rod Serling.
I was thinking the thing!
They only IMAGINED they were independent.
What a beautiful and unique place I truly hope this town gets back on its feet and gets the help they need and rightly deserve.💙❤
If this place becomes a part of Canada, it would've been a better place for all the residents.
Resilience is a good thing but I agree with the police officer, sometimes it makes people forget that you exist just because they think you are too resilient. This applies even to us individuals. When you seem so strong and independent, other people, even your own family, won't bother to even ask you: Are you okay?
It’s the quiet ones you have to worry about.
What a beautiful community. Wishing your residents all the best .

This is why we need a Universal Basic Income.
We don't need UBI. We need to chloroform the FEDERAL RESERVE ACT and purge the corruption out of our governments.
Clearly a man made problem here. Why can't the state departments of both countries get together and say: for a certain period (until covid ends) Point Roberts residents will be considered Canadian for travel into and out of Canada and good and services can enter from Canada.
they can move between borders now, story is outdated

The border crossing which serves Point Roberts should be opened up, by special agreement between both governments. Stranding an entire town, is absolutely nuts.
Its bureaucracy gone mad.

How does the grocery store get its inventory?
This could be the death of many small towns. People are going to have to move. Been there. Sad.
95 percent of the US isnt in lockdown and has not been in lockdown since june of 2020. The only states in lockdowns still are really liberal coastal states and obviously Canada because of how nutty they are. Here in MIssouri, (and almost every other state in the country) has had schools, bars, restaurants, etc. open since last summer. Nothing is in lockdown so the idea that this is the death of small towns. Nope! I do feel bad for people living in Washington state, California, and the North East. Where governors care more about optics than what actually saves lives.

I was thinking they should go to that yellow barrier and pass them over to the recipients.
I don't understand why she doesn't throw them over the yellow bricks in the dead of night.
Because the Border Patrol will hunt you down, and may decide to arrest you for doing that. They have cameras and sensors to detect human presence all along that "yellow barrier." Someone recently decided to be "cute" and order Doordash food from Canada to be handed over the barrier, and the driver is now in deep... you know what.
@@Sir_Reality you are correct they even have cameras in the middle of no where, hard to physically access areas
“Jumping” the border changed after 9/11, there’s a piece of the border in Maine that runs down the curb line of a street, the street is in the US, the houses are in Canada, to leave your own house and come back home you need to go to the nearest checkpoints, otherwise you’re illegally entering either nation. The only exemption, the golf course has is parking lot on the wrong side of the line, but you can park and play without using the checkpoint since there’s no other real way off the golf course but back out into the parking lot across the street.
There’s also a town in Vermont where the borderline cuts houses and a library in half.

There is no logical reason why these people shouldn't be able to have some kind of ID card enabling them to travel through Canada not stopping at all until they get back in the US. Another example of how unreasonable this covid-19 restriction stuff can be.
You may have missed it, but there's ferry service between the town and Washington State. Hundreds of thousands of Americans live on islands where that is the only access, covid or no covid . I lived on Catalina for a few years, 26 miles offshore of LA, and the ferry served the people well.

It’s quite a long way from there to the rest of the state, even over the water.
Well, like I said before. Either a person has been affected by the virus; they’ve lost a loved one to the virus or they were affected finically.
