hey can you please put a content warning for child abuse on stuff like this, like at least in the description? normally your channel is fine with stuff like this but, as a survivor of child abuse, this sent me into a mild panic within the first few minutes. i would have been more prepared had there been a warning, and i feel like this would effect other survivors too.

Warning to anyone that decides to read this manga, this is not a horror manga. Make sure you're in the right mindset to read this manga. It's the most depressing thing I've read in a while. This reminds me of my mom, how she appears so loving and kind at one moment and terrifying, cruel and cold the next. As a child I couldn't stand up to her. But as an adult I got so sick of her gaslighting I stopped all interaction with her even though I still live in the same house. The few friends I told never understood, and thought I was simply an unforgiving daughter. It's crazy how easy it is for parents to abuse their power over their children.

idk why but that type of creeping horror reminds me of something I'd heard a good several times growing up; "go cry in the other room." I cried when I felt overwhelmed w homework, life, trivial shit, etc. and my parents would tell me to go cry somewhere else. something about that feeling of being robbed of comfort when I needed it the most, even if it was over something stupid. it sorta conditioned me into being embarrassed about crying, especially in front of people. just. being scared of being abandoned, invisible, nonexistent. that no one would care if I cried, and if I got attention from it, it was wrong.

While the aspect of being the child in this manga is truly horrifying, what's even more horrifying is the possibility of being the adult in this. Be it the mother who's been living a life she doesn't want, the father who's doing the very best he can but still isn't enough or the adult Seiichi who can't stitch back his life no matter what.

Stories like these are real, I've experienced it first hand. There were at least a dozen of times where our mother tried killing our father, her own mom and us children (with her in the car, we were in the backseat) and I don't know how but she was always sent to an asylum and got out 1-4 months later...then the horror would begin anew. She had perfected the art of playing samaritan and victim (at the same time) to everyone outside the family, she still does it 20 years later and I feel nothing but disgust for her.Even those who know are too afraid to stand up to her, because they know what she's capable of, yet they still make excuses for her trying to stab our father or strangle her mother (in front of her childrens eyes no less)..."oh, she was abused as a child" blahblah. The whole fmaily is a bunch of disgusting and pathetic enablers.
I know exactly how it feels in real life to have such a mother and you really live in constant fear, because with a parent that unstable and unpredictable, anything (or nothign at all) could mean injury or even death.
One example: I once had a bad ear ache when Iwas about 7 years old and my mom told me she had a family remedy for that. To "make the pain go away", she put a cotton pad drenched in boiling oil in my ear. Even 20 years later, I still remember the unbearble pain of the burn and the scream of terror and pain I let out. I'll never forget that sound, it was a sif from someone else, not me...and there were no witnesses, I was alone with her at that moment. I don't remember if we went to a doctor or what other people said to that, just that no one ever got to know what she had done. Everyone really thought she was the poor young mother who was simply a little overwhelmed with raising two kids, because her husband was always on business trips.
Sometimes I wonder how I managed to live through all that abuse. My sister forgot most of it, her brain shut it all away. Mine can't because I'm HSP, I remember so much, far too much for my own liking. I know what our mother has done and she knows I know, which is why she views me as danger and to this day isolates me from most of the famiyl by spreading lies and gossiping. And if she does something nice, it's only so you owe her. And she'll remind you of that when she needs a favor done. But it won't be a favor, it'll be a demand and you will do that, otherwise she'll tell others how she was being so nice and now you refuse to give that kindness back, she'll play the victim.
Honestly, I could write whole books about it all. Maybe one day I will, my therapist adviced me to do so, but I'm afraid of what that book would look like...
Some people are just rotten to the core and if you are unlucky, those people are your relatives and even your own mother.

Just face the fact that your mother is a separate entity from who you are as a person with a different soul… no ties linking you both other than a title. Serial killers often have children too, but those children can grow up being loving and caring adults. It’s a sad and difficult situation, but you are stronger and a fighter. Find a good partner who will be a better parent to your children and to yourself. Life goes on and you are the master of your own future. ❤

But you're right about me being a fighter. We all are or can be, if we decide to. Also, God is helping a lot, especially in recent months...I've also become more kind(yet hardened) and started doing community work for the homeless. Giving to others feels good, maybe I've finally found my purpose...
What doesn't kill us really makes us stronger. If you push through the despair and hurt and don't let it beat you down that is. 💪
Thank you for your kind words. ❤
I wish good luck, health, hope and faith to everyone who is struggling. 🙏

I love the aspect of horror from madness. The thought of insanity scares us because we can't comprehend it, we can't control it we can't escape it because it's within all of us when there's no explanation to one's actions when there's no logic to one's thoughts. Madness is unbound to logic, unlimited by morality it's un phased by fear it's scary to think of what a normal person can become when a little madness slips inside them.

For me the mom in this manga has the same effect as a "certain character" from ddlc.(MAYOR SPOILERS FOR DOKI DOKI LITERATURE CLUB, IT'S LITERALLY FREE ON STEAM JUST PLAY THE WHOLE THING, THIS IS THE ONE GAME WHERE SPOLIERS RUIN THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE)
They just look like normal average humans, there's nothing scary or weird about them superficially (although monika has some superficial differences that make her stand out, but these aren't inherently creepy),but you know that deep down inside of them lie twisted evil psycopathic monsters with no self control that'll do ANYTHING to get their way. What's horrifying about them is not their superficial appearance, but the context of what they are and how it doesn't match what they look like. Although monika does end up redeeming herself at the end and becomes one of the few villains that I actually felt real sympathy for, throughout Act 2 monika is this evil looming presence, and everytime she's on frame or she's mentioned, you can feel pure dread and fear. And she looks so normal and cute, but behind that fake facade lies a writhing mass of pure evil and apathy. Especially during Monika's talk where you're just forced to stare deeply into her eyes, and it's legitimately scary. In any other visual novel it wouldn't be weird, but knowing the context of the things monika did, her staring at you is just uncomfortable. It's such effective horror and I love it

This kinda reminds me of the webtoon/Manhwa “bastard” except in that story the main character’s father is a serial killer and he is an unwilling and troubled accomplice. The mental turmoil the main character (forgot his name) experiences along with the dreary artstyle and grotesque violent shots make the manhwa really horrific in that psychological horror way. Just reading what his life was like growing up while knowing what his father does and the injustice of it all is so heart clenching. It really feels like once something goes right, everything is hopeless all over again and even the small bit of hope I have gets shredded (though I won’t spoil the ending). Truly the best webtoon and manhwa I’ve ever read due to how troubled and depressed yet emotional it made me

When I read this all I wanted to do is reach out to Seichi and save him, hold him, and give him a better life. My mother growing up could be so nice and lovely and then be so cold and mean. And it would be like one day she's nice and the next day she's mean, it would be in the same moment. Growing up having to explain things to her carefully, tip toe around her to keep her calm was horrifying growing up. Nothing was perfect or good enough, and everything was our (the kids) fault. Whenever Seichi would blame himself for things that are clearly not his fault I would get so angry with his mother, I just hoped he would find a way out. Then they times where he would find an out or some sort of happiness only for him to go back to his mother would make me so upset with him until I realized that I would do the same. He was a child who only had his mother growing up. He was a victim of his mother. It's such a heartbreaking read but I loved it so much.

Although not directly expressed in this manga, in East Asia its actually part of a conversation about how East Asian societies have such a high and unreasonable standard for women of what a “good mother” or “good housewife” is. It has actually driven a lot of mothers into depression and their families didn’t even realize what they did because it’s such a subtle and subconscious part of society.

I read the entire manga today thanks to the video you made and I've got to say, what a ride it was. The horror genre in any medium has become quite dull to me I have to admit having played the biggest horror games, seen a lot of the scariest movies that were shared to me, and read also a lot of horror manga. This manga to me was a whole other experience then horror, not in the sense that is commonly depicted in media. Without getting into spoilers for later chapters, the themes of the manga, manipulation, trust, family, love and how they were depicted in this manga felt personal. I never had a manga that I could say really changed me, until now. This was the one time I cried ever after having read manga. I want to recommand this manga, really, I do, but as much as it has helped me sort my thoughts out, It is a pain to go through once you get invested in the characters, the emotion that is unpacked chapter by chapter, truelly as SEW put it in the video, broke me. If you want to read it, go ahead, but I warn you, this is not going to be a fun ride, not because it might get scary at times, but because of the sheer emotion contained into this story.

The last part when you mention how we change our perspective of our parents really hits me hard, its true thtat in some situations we change our perspective towards our parents but being afraid, mad and feeling resentments towards them must be the worst feelings, i will read this manga cause Shuzo Oshimi is one of my favs autors and specially Aku No Hana its one if not my fav manga i had read, it hit me in so many ways, i felt every single emotion reading every page, and i have rad it multiple times too, Happiness is really amazing too, this videos really make me feel a lot again hahaha your videos are amazing man

I've just finished reading it! and I must say I LOVED IT! It felt so real yet distorted! I really felt the worry, discomfort, fear, anxiety, anger, sadness, etc from the manga! I loved how I felt dizzy from looking at his distorted perception, I felt that I've connected with the main character so well! everything he was experiencing I was walking in his shoes! LITERALLY! Trail of Blood really hit home for me as well, so I felt the anxiety he was feeling, the feeling of being trapped and such.
