Hi Ashley, many thanks for this energetic plant shopping video, much appreciated! It’s nice that the growers are sending some new varieties of plants out this season. Love the Peperomia Serpens Varegata you found! I had an 8 in basket of these a few years back but I couldn’t get the watering right.😵💫 I can’t wait to see yours flourish in your care! Happy growing! 👌🪴🥰
I’ve had that peperomia scandens variegata for a little over a year and love it. It’s super easy to care for and grows like a weed. I let mine dry out completely before watering as the leaves are slightly more succulent as other peperomia. You picked a beauty and are going to love it! 🥰🪴🥰
The Peperomia scandens var does so well! Have the same one.....still in shock how easy it has been...no leaf drop......happy for you......yes living up north we are in a houseplant famine at the home depot! Leafjoy has been holding its own :) but no costa trending tropicals or exotic angels......can't wait until tne flow flows!
Love the selection in NC! But I have to squee over the beautiful Indigo Wave cactus I snatched up at a Home Depot in Baltimore...only 12 bucks for a deep 5" pot, with lots of gorgeous waves and crests. I could not believe my luck! I think you're right - this is going to be a wonderful plant-y year! 💚
Hi Ashley, I was in one of my Lowe’s here on Long Island and I bought the same peperomia as you did. The scandens is so beautiful and you’re right, the variegation 😮😮❤
I got a global green at my local Walmart. They have had lovely Hoya wayetti hanging baskets recently too. My Lowe’s also had scindapsus exotica and huge Hoya krimson princess.
Thank you Ashley 😊 it's always nice to go plant shopping wi t h you I've never heard of that peperomia you pick but I think its very pretty I love the varication on the leaves. ❤
For the water struggle plants I'm a big fan of wicks and reservoirs & especially love hunting for interesting containers! My maidenhair fernand zebra plant would have been history by now!
I'd love to watch you garden outdoors! I had a small container garden on my balcony last year and this year I'm starting from seeds for the first time, I'm so excited!
If you do outside keep simple ,pots or raised bed.you can do automatic watering so even you go away they are all set ,plus a cage a for your tomatoes so they don't fall over .plus mulch so you don't have to weed . But agree house do help with your Zen but gardening outside helps your food budget
Wow your local stores have some cool stuff atm! I'm in AZ and I've noticed things are barely starting to get more tropical, really looking forward to my first spring as a planty person (since I got into the hobby in late summer of last year)!
I lucked out a few days ago at my local Walmart. A huge golden pothos with leaves bigger than my hand. Which I have not seen in my area. They're always baby plants with small leave. Also a very large full spider plant. Both in hanging pots for $20 each. I have been scouring my area for a spider plant for a couple of years. Every time a store gets them in its only a few and they disappear as fast as employees can put them out. But the Universe finally said it was my turn to be first on shipment day.
I have come to the conclusion that our Lowe's and Home Depot will never have a lot of these plants. I live in zone 9, go figure. I'll just keep watching Ashley She has the best finds!
The plant you point out around 20:27 I believe is actually a Dieffenbachia, maybe 'star bright' ♥️ they've been popping up a lot recently here in the Midwest too. I love them! Someone correct me if I. Wrong as well 🤣
I love the plant you got 😍 going to add that to my wish list!! Haven’t seen any up here in CT yet, hoping we get a great variety of plants at our big box stores come spring time!! I have gotten some really nice plants at BJ’s lately!! A beautiful large rattlesnake calathea for 12.99 and a huge philodendron for 16.99- so anyone that has a BJ’s near them, check it out! They are always getting new ones in too!
We only have one Lowe's in my area and two Home Depot, all of which I visited in the past week. The closest Home Depot to me have their plants super close to an outdoor door and they never locked it when temps dropped -45 f with wind-chill. Needless to say almost half of their plants died. The second Home Depot had very generic plants and a lot of succulents and cactus, but nothing super rare. The Lowe's had limited stock, and what they had were things you can find everywhere. So far my big box stores are duds, and it's so sad. 😔
Such a great pickup with the Cupid Pep, definitely unique! I would have picked up the plant right after the Xanthosoma, I thiiiiink it was a Draceana White Aspen 🤔 💭 thanks for the insight 🙂, hopefully the big box stores in the Northeast (Massachusetts) step their game up this growing season. I already have a PPP from Lowe’s a few weeks ago but I recently seen some at Walmart, I’m thinking about getting another PPP from Walmart because there variegation is wayy better plus they have pups which I have been wanting 🥰
I found a Gloriosum at Lowe's and I found a philodendron Strawberry Shake at Fry's. Fry's has PPP but they were gone when I got there. Reddit has alot of lists of store in every state that is getting rare plants.
There really is no exact science. I'd say the best way to tell is to look at the roots. If they are mushy and rotted your chances are slim. If they looks healthy, there is a good chance you can bring it back to life.
Once again I’m jealous of how huge your box store plant collections are you would think here in Florida we would have the same thing but no. But we now have a market that had been selling fresh vegetables now has invested in greenhouses and is now selling lots of house plants and tropical plants so there is still hope
I love watching your channel. I am always jealous of the Lowe's in your area. Can you please take a moment in one of your videos to call out Lowes in the Antioch California area for not having this type of variety or for not rotating the types of plants they offer. They are constantly stocked with ordinary pothos and the standard monstera and such but they never have hoyas or the other wonderful plant varieties your Lowes gets. I nearly fell over when I saw they finally had a new plant (homalomena). Since you're a big influencer, maybe Lowes will listen to you. thank you 🙂💛
Hi Ashley :) I recently discovered your channel, and have been binge watching your videos - great content! I have a question for you that you may or may not be able to help me with... I bought this kind of weird little succulent plant back in 2020 at Lowes (I think I even saved it from it's imminent death and got them to give me a discount) that I'm pretty sure was not named on a tag or anything (how annoying is that, right), and now that I am paying a lot more attention to it, I am noticing that it is really a cool little plant! I think it's some sort of Haworthia. I have tried like crazy to use plant identifier apps to figure out what it is exactly, but to no avail. They always get it wrong. Can you help me figure this out? I know neither one of us is a Haworthia expert, but I *so* need help with this. And um... now it's coming out with bigtime variegated leaves on one of the offshoots!! Do I have a rare plant?! There's nothing like this on the internet, but then again, I am probably not looking in the right places either. I don't know how to send you a photo of this plant, but I know you would love to see it, and maybe you could figure out how to help me identify this mystifying plant.
