It amazes me how the 90's animators were ALWAYS on point drawing the human anatomy. Pause every frame of the 90's choreography and you'll see that each pose she makes is elegant and natural, whereas in Eternal she looks stiff and wonky a lot of the times. Sure we might have better technology now, but I feel like we've lost the classic, detail-oriented animation techniques that made the 90's anime so unique. For example, if you pause at around 0:03 you can see the silhouette of her hand behind the water, ready to form the attack. That's quality animation right there.
Your points are WELL MADE! I do like certain elements of the new animation but the attention to detail in the 90s for Neptune’s attack alone is indeed phenomenal. I thought I was the only one who noticed her hand through the water! The formation of the orb is also better in the original. It looked rushed in Eternal.
The "pause at any frame and it's beautiful" artwork is how I used to explain the difference between regular cartoons and anime. However, just like with so many animated shows, the quality of detail and art has waned over recent years (just like attention to spelling and grammar) because lazy efforts and quick turnarounds have become acceptable. I'm glad to read that there are people who still get excited about the small gems such as the hand through the water! Someone drew that one frame hoping it would be appreciated!
90's is definitely better with this one. Of course Eternal is brighter and the coloring looks good, but it feels stiff. It ain't no World Shaking, that's for sure.
I would totally believe it.. It's the only one that looks AMAZING. Dead Scream looks about equal in quality to the 90s series, but this one is definitely worse.
90s looks better overall, also one specific thing that bugs me about eternal is the initial crash of the waves... in the original it was a DEEP SUBMERGE, you were going into the ocean. Therefore the crash of the wave makes sense. But theyres no crash in eternal and so it kinda looks wierd! Tldr; theres more anticipation in the wave crash in the 90s
Some parts of the sequence has the same amount of frames actually, and in 90s case some have less than Eternal, more frames doesn't always equal good. A lot goes into animation than just frame count
You literally just copy and paste that same comment on every sailor moon crystal/eternal video. Can you shut up please? It's so annoying especially when there are so many things that crystal did better than the 90s
@@avidanime158 haha of course ! Crystal is also copying all the movment from the 90s! Teens of today are just impressed by the flashy colors ! Not the animation !! Hahahaha
@꧁꧂ᴠɪᴋɪɴɢ ᴘʀɪɴᴄᴇss꧁꧂ I think the problem is the inconsistency of the time! for example Haruka's attack now seems to be a little longer than the 90's but on the other hand Neptune is shorter now
The problem is taking an attack that was damn near perfect, and ruining it. Neptunes old close up is breath taking, the new one sucks with the awkwardness of the hand.
They definitely could of added more frames with the tidal waves crashing before neptune shows up. The best part is when her ball is spinning all over the place, but overall a no for me for eternal :(
I don’t understand this. Eternal sped up the start of the attack and part way through they realized it would be over in 2 seconds, so they slowed down the end. Why didn’t they just let it play at normal speed through the whole thing? The waves crashing down was my favorite part of the attack and Neptune standing in the parted sea is so iconic. You barely see any of it in this version.
The shining 'planet' is even not taking shape on Michiru's hands in Eternal 🙄shame on Toei Animation Can you imagine 2020 Toei draws worse water than their 90's?
Her being my favorite guardian next to Venus, I feel like Neptune and Pluto were done dirty in terms of their reimagined attacks CONSIDERING that Uranus's attack was WILDLY more impressive that her 90s original
I don't get all the complaints because tbh this looks fine. Pluto's attack too. The only problematic one is Oak Evolution but whatever, that's just the animators style.
I think Eternal’s is way too fast and animation is a bit stiff like Dead Scream. I love the colors though I feel like that’s one of the things that they did really good here.
I thought the 90s version made Neptune’s attack too short/ quick. When you slow it down, you can see how amazing the shots look and the scale / magnitude of her attack. For Crystal/ Eternal to make this attack sequence even shorter is an absolute shame. She also looks too stiff / unnatural in her attack pose. Moreover, I’m also not a huge fan of the way they did her hair in the newer animation series. Her hair looked more wavy (like the sea) and gave her more of an ethereal look in the 90s / original version.
Look at Sailor Neptune's leg in the Eternal version as she turns about to throw that Deep Submerge attack. Something just looks off about it. It's not smooth or feminine like the original series.
90s is great but dude make the reboot something great and powerful not a copycat that lets us all down. Such a lack of creativity and disappointment. At least the 90s had better shading and detail too.
@@mandoz353 Character designer from first two seasons... the seasons that are the most simple-looking ones, compared to Seasons 3-5 which are more detailed and gorgeous.
Eternal made World Shaking look so amazing, but definitely dropped the ball a bit with Deep Submerge. 90s looks loads better here.
Agree World Shaking was better looking in Eternal show than Neptune and Pluto
I’m glad I am not the only one who noticed this and am also not surprised! The original Deep Submerge is better rendered.
Was thinking the same thing. Neptune was done dirty :/
They dropped harder than Michiru's antique plates in Eternal part 2 😵
I don't know why... New version new refresh! But this!!!!!!!!😢

Only thing I like in Eternal is the very end when the ball is running around. 90's is still gorgeous to this day, and better than Eternal. 🌊🌊🌊
Eternal did my favorite pretty soldier so dirty with deep submerge but I still love the movies
90's is definitely better with this one. Of course Eternal is brighter and the coloring looks good, but it feels stiff. It ain't no World Shaking, that's for sure.
yeah im def not a fan of eternal’s but i appreciate they made it more green like neptune is supposed to be
I actually prefer Neptune more blue
Actually her image color is turquoise isn't it?
Mercury is blue. Neptune is Turquoise.
neptune is not green, green is jupiter, neptune is teal
@@sodacitynative1983 Yessss Neptune is Turquoise not green!

They all look so good, like everything about eternal except 0:06 when they slowly zoom up to her hand it looks kinda off.
It's called "Perspective" 🙂
アニメに関しては進化する必要まったくないね。90年代が凄すぎ

I don't get why the water animation is so off in Eternal. The waves looks like they're made of jello.
90s' is perfect now. a bit change in Eternal made it sucks.
Le quitaron en Eternal todo el poder al no dejar que la ola impacte para luego rebelar a Neptune en su interior
