If you’re going to start putting guys on waivers and or extending contracts so you use him in a trade (Kakko) you’d better get guys we need.. grit, tenacious, determined & plain old nasty ! We need to build a solid defense around Shesty because that was clearly visible during the playoffs our defense was struggling..
Are teams like Chicago and Montreal very likely to want a guy like Kakko? Upside potential, affordable and worse case scenario - not a liability. Or are high draft picks who have not come through a dime a dozen? Those guys seem like such a good play for a team like Montreal. Can play him with the #1s and let them figure it out.
Totally on board with this move. I could see him maybe getting claimed and going back to the sharks where they need some leadership and they're struggling to hit their cap. I was really hoping they would have been open to trading for our captain just to get some leadership out there and then we don't have to play them more than twice a year. I would love to clear that cap space because he is dead weight he's only worth about a third of what his contract is

I'll always respect his clutch moments in the ECF this season but the reality is that he's an insanely overpriced 4th liner who doesn't produce enough in the regular season to warrant an over 3 mil salary.

This organization doesn't ever make sense. They get rid of the experienced grit they need and keep small defensemen that are overrated and forwards that are injury prone year after year. Trouba at 8 million is not going to win any championships so not trading him will be an anchor. Drury got rid of Pavel Buchnevich who they drafted and has never been able to rectify it. Then he gets 2 small forwards at the most recent trade deadline. Doesn't use the LTIR like the smart teams who win cups do, etc. So of course getting rid of Goodrow makes most everyone think the extra money will be used properly. 1994 could become the new 1940 chant if he keeps messing up.
Done with this BS team. This should show the direction they are going….NOWHERE. One of your best players in a physical series, that they can never compete in, and they waive him. Been a long time fan, DONE. How bout changing uniform colors also….Pink, white and blue, would be more appropriate.

After his playoffs I was sure he’d have trade value, now not so much
overall, its a good decision to save cap, i feel bad at the same time because he helped the rangers out a lot this post season
Dropping the mits when he didnt have to in the beginning of the Devil game went a long way with me. It's a shame, he's a good guy.
