I'd like to ask you about the Backwash pump sizing .... you mentioned in your lecture that the required quantity of water it will be 2-5 % of flow ..and the head should be 4 meter above the media >>> first question the flow of pump will be 2-5 % from daily or hourly flow ?? and how we can determine the head of pump with example ??
Two factors are there. First, the rate of filtration should be adequate enough so enough filtered water is coming out. Second, the rate of filtration should not be as high that the water does not get enough time when it passes through the filter and thus impurities may not be removed.
Water drainage system is required for two purposes, to collect the filtered water through the filter and to supply the wash water and compressed air in the upward direction. Later I will make one video regarding it because it is more relevent to theoretical part of ese.
