We'll see if it's worth the hype, although I have a feeling it being one of the very few RPGs on a system that wasn't very popular is a factor. When you don't have much to choose from, even something mediocre can look amazing. We'll see though, I'm trying to be optimistic, even if it is mediocre Jon I'm sure can make it entertaining, just like he did Starfield.

I also think the characters have a bit more personality than others of the era. I don't really want to ruin any surprises, but it is one of my favorite RPGs that I played during the Wii era. So I got it well after it came out on the Dreamcast.
I wholeheartedly agree, Jon has a passion for many things I don't personally understand and that is what makes it great. It's like my friends, we all like different things but when any of talk about something with passion we all listen 😌
He manages to play games that I lose interest in within minutes. Talking of which, I would LOVE to see Jon do a run-through of Darklands. That was a game with HUGE potential, but lack of money and premature leaking of the game along with Microprose failing led to it failing badly.
For several years Skies of Arcadia was my Christmas tradition. Every Christmas from the day I got my Dreamcast, to eventually the GC release and a few years on, early in the morning I would sit in the living room and play Skies of Arcadia. There wasn't any particular reason, it was just a game I loved and I wanted to play on a day where everyone was at home and happy. Sometimes I just let the title screen on for hours. I thought my mom would've hated me by then, but years later she asked me about that short melody with the blue sky I would put on the TV. Though her favourite melody was the Kindgdom of Ixa'taka theme she told me afterwards when we were going through the OST.
I only know Vyse and Aika from Valkyria Chronicles, definitely looking forward to seeing the game they originally came from! (Also, now that Jon's doing this series, they can finally announce the remaster!)

Oh man, I'm so excited for this one. One of my favorite channels playing my all time and forever favorite game. Seriously, without this game I'd be a different person. So much of my tastes as I developed as a young'un were based on how much like Skies of Arcadia it was. I was so happy coming back to it as an adult to see that it holds up, even if its story can be a bit by-the-numbers-JRPG, but it taught me that it's more HOW you tell a story than what that story is. Can't wait to keep up with this one!

I played this back in the day on the Dreamcast, it was one of my favorites and I recently replayed the Legends version about a year ago via emulation! I did not expect to see you do a playthrough of this gem but I am totally there for it!! This is going to be very special!!
I remember borrowing this game from my friend when we were in high school and I fell in love with it. I binged the game until I got to the second to last boss and got destroyed over and over. Put the game down for a few months and when I finally went back I beat it first try lol. Fantastic old school rpg

I mean, I know what they are, where the reference comes from, and I have for sure typed that at least once on my phone, but why would it suggest them in this context?

There's a reason I loved the Last Exile anime series', if it has airborne battleships brawling it out with awesome designs I know I'm gonna love it. Seeing this clip just reinforces that belief, we've got sky pirates, armored dreadnoughts, beautiful designs on even the generic ships in the background...
Honestly can't even put into words how excited I am. This is straight up in my top 3 all time favorite games. Very much looking forward to the next x months of Jon meandering through this absolute gem of a game
