I have two other gimbals besides the 360 flow. You nailed it when you said it's not about the hardware it's about the AI and the experience. The flow is my go to gimbal. I film for fun and enjoyment. Small compact and functional is what I am looking for. I can live with the minor drawbacks.
This review is so on point! You really put in the effort to give us all the important deets. I got myself a DJI OM6 before, and even though I had to splash some more cash on the extras, I gotta say it's totally worth it. The features are just so killer!
I usually add a dji mic to my iphone for vlogging. My previous phone gimbal couldn't handle this extra weight. Do you know if this gimbal would cope with the extra microphone?
Keep in mind that it also has a cold shoe attachment allowing you to mount most mic transmitters to the gimbal - shifting the additional weight away from the phone attachment
As a filmmaker myself one obvious issue stuck in this review: In MANY of your shots the white balance and exposure are changing constantly making most of the video virtually unusable from a cinematic standpoint. I take it the app doesn't let you use the amazing qualities the Iphone's three lenses offer? Can you use this product without the app while using the iphone native camera app and still control pan/tilt and have the gimble work? Other than that fantastic video and thank you for making the effort!!! Cheers
Thanks so much for the feedback, and so glad to see someone commenting from a professional standpoint. You can use the gimbal with the native camera app, however all the smart features will be unavailable.
I’m looking for a sports game tracker. Will the AI be able to identify a basketball during a game of 10 adults playing from 35ft to 50ft away? I was also looking at the Xbot Go Sports gimbal too but I’d much rather purchase this because of the price.
I just picked this up in gray yesterday and can't wait to try it while roller skating. :D I'm not the smoothest skater, so let's see how it works. Thanks for your review and the tips. They're very helpful. :) Subbed.
Hello great video :) I see that you are using a pixel 8, is the footage quality from the insta360 app compares well with the same from the pixel main camera app ? I know that pixel relies heavily on post processing. Hesitating to buy one for my P8P.
I have just got a zhiyun smooth q4 it is good for me the zhiyun does have the ai tracking as well as the dolly zoom and hyperlapse but tbh I never actually used them I just pull out my 14 pro and keep it there and I don’t usually record in the app and I just record to get the video as smooth as possible 😊
i was saddened a little bit when i got the flow. i think my phone isn't supported because my native camera app delivers but with the insta 360 app it's a bit janky I can barely use the AI tracking because of this.
@@TechMishka older generation android phone. xiaomi 9t pro xiaomi 11 5g both phones struggle with the insta 360 app. i asked one of the insta 360 support this is what they had to say. "Thanks for your thorough comparison! Please note that due to the limitations imposed by the phone's operating system, the Insta360 App might not be able to use all cameras and lenses. But we'll forward your feedback to the R&D team. Hopefully there can be some improvements later."
140,000 subscribers and only one comment in two days? I guess no one really cares about this gimble but you and I!LOL. It's pretty cool. I just ordered the Insta360 X3 and was wondering if I would use this gadget. I need to find more videos highlighting how they use it to see if it is something I can really make use of for my motorcycle videos.
Yeah, this is weird :( Pretty sure you will find good ways of using the X3. I record footage with for almost each and every eBike or eScooter that I do. Amazing camera!
@@TechMishka I didn't make that very clear, I'm afraid. I was referring to the gimble and wondering if I'd use that enough to make the purchase worthwhile. But after watching a lot of videos, I decided to order it also. The part I like about it is the videos on drone simulation. Pretty cool. So I have both the X3 and the Flow coming this next week. I have an old Hero 5 that, like a lot of other people have reported, shuts off for no reason in the middle of a shoot, then when you discover it isn't running, you have to try to recreate what you think you missed. It's getting pretty old and I was going to replace it with a Hero 11, but decided the X3 was much cooler for my RUclips channel motorcycle shoots.
Excellent review thank you, I believe it has a feature to do 360 panorama by taking 18 pictures and then stitching them together. Cheers Vancouver Island Canada 🇨🇦
Hello , very good video thank you very much. But you forgot to mention a major problem of this gimbal : the very fragile joystick, mine broke after two weeks of use. A quick research on the internet proves my point , a lot of people are facing this issue after a few days or weeks of use. Mine is actually on its way for repair , I do not know yet if Insta360 will be ok for a warranty repair ( they should be ok because it is clearly a design mistake , specially if you compare with the OM6’s joystick which much more robust ). Just to mention that before buying this joystick just be aware that there is a major design flaw with the joystick and be ready to face problems.
@@TechMishka exactly , this is why I truely believe that it is a design flaw , this joystick was very poorly designed specially on this kind of device. Mine broke when I put the gimbal in my pocket ( Insta360 advertises that this gimbal is so small that you can easily put it in your pocket … but they do not tell that when you put it in your pocket the joystick will most probably break !!! )
If I film using the Pro Camera app in my Samsung phone which allows me to use manual settings like fps and shutter am I restricted to using Insta 360 app to get the features?
Great video. A lot of fun to watch and most of the information I was looking for. What are your thoughts on how this would work with a very large phone that is heavy?
I think the biggest problem is that you can't use all software features. The 360 photo Option would be so nice. Also a better zoom mode with my pixel 7 pro. It's a very good gimbal....but....
I have the pixel 7 Pro and i'm very undecided if i must buy this or not, knowing the app doesn't work fully with the android phones, do you think it's a bad decision or not?
Thanks for this fantastic video! I use the phone as a secondary camera to record vertical oriented footage for social media for my clients. The most common design failure I have seen in the past is that the arms/mechanism of the gimbal if too biffy and it appears in the footage. Have you tried vertical recordings?
Hello buddy! Your video is very good and that's why I subscribed. Because I'm interested in the flow I looked in the combatibility list and it only has pixels 6/6 pro. I'm thinking of combining it with one of these and may be 7a. What limitations did you find it has and with which of the above google models did you try it? Will you be back with a newer video about the gimbal? (I know it's hard to have multiple mobiles). Thanks in advance!👌 -There is new combatibility list with more models -
Thanks for the sub! Well - 7a worked fine. Technjcally - almost every smartphone will.work fine, question is whether the insta360 app will show most of its functions. Est thing to do is to message their support if you have a particular model in mind. But most Pixels work fine.
i got one already, here comes a problem,i m a totally rookie, bought it just for fun,i'cant find a best way to use it,when i out taking video,it is not good as youtuber or up,it confused me,is it necessary?
It very much depends on the device that you film with. Some high end phones are capable.of producing very cinematic feeling. And usually RUclipsrs apply a lot of extra editing.
It does not and cannot improve your phone camera's innate capabilities? Am I right. It simply provides a smart Gimble functionality and stabilisation, along with some AI enabled tracking and a mobile tripod. Is that correct? Can it be used as an alyernative to an action cam on a selfie stick? Can it make your phoe camera capture instant360 like videos ?
It clearly can't perform an infinite 360 inception roll and that's a big negative for the gimbal. The M6 is a far superior gimbal and comes in at just slightly more cost.

It is fine. But the Pixel stabilization is good enough without a gimbal too

It should be able to. If it is Pro Max, then it may struggle a bit.
Yes. I use the s23 ultra with dji mic

If I use the insta cam app is there going to be any quality loss in video?
Depends on the smartphone type. Some vendors limit the access to some libraries, which impacts quality.
The tripod looks like it might be a bit small - is it top-heavy when set up with the phone, or quite stable?
It is not that stable. You should use it on a flat surface.
