Thank you for your enthusiasm, as well as for the kind words. Nightwish's music, with its intense and optimistic energy, has been with me, as well as many other fans, in difficult moments of our lives. The link lists that I promote to the reactors are my way of thanking them, to the best of my humble ability, by making them as well known as possible.

Tuomas has said that he first gets an idea for a song. Then he starts writing the lyrics and as he writes he composes the music in his head. He composes for all the instruments except the guitar, which he says eludes him. So Emppu gets that job. When he’s done writing an album, he then presents his results to the band and Floor and everything is tweaked to perfection. 😄🤘

I love this song, it's a bit underrated by reactors, but it has everything I love on Nightwish. It's pretty old, so I didn't expect to hear it sometime live in concert. And in my first and only concert yet, 2022 in Poland, they put it in the list. When the intro started, I started to cry... It was a miracle, a wish that came true. Thanks for your reactions.

Great reaction to a beautiful song! One that is often overlooked by reactors. One of the things I like about this video is that it shows the smaller venues Nightwish plays in the US since they are criminally unknown here. This concert is from the same Endless Forms Most Beautiful tour as Wembley and Tampere. So here in the States you might get about 1000 people while in Europe you are getting 15,000 to 20,000. Because of the smaller venues it doesn't make sense to bring the huge video walls and pyro over here so you get a much smaller production. Saw them live in Boston in 2022 in the UMass Lowell hockey arena with about 2000 people. On my bucket list to see them in Europe, preferably Finland, to get that big stage show.

The two albums with Anette, "Dark Passion Play" and "Imaginaerum," would be in my top four favorite Nightwish albums if I was the type to make lists. When I saw Nightwish (and Kamelot) in 2012, I listened to "Dark Passion Play" on the way there and "Imaginaerum" on the way back. The song "Whoever Brings the Night" is one of my favorites, but I don't recall a quality live version.
If you'd like some live recommendations, "Slaying the Dreamer" and "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" are both great songs from the Tarja era that have great live versions with Floor. Both songs are on Nuclear Blasts' official channel.

This is why it's extremely hard choosing one starting song that fits all listeners. Nightwish has a song or two for everyone, even if they don't care for the rest.

Thanks for sharing your reaction to a song that explores themes of mythology and adventure, combining elements of ancient Egypt and Arabian tales. The lyrics depict a narrative that unfolds through various characters and settings.
In the verses, we are introduced to a dark queen and a protagonist who is fleeing the curse of the gods and the pharaoh's wrath. This creates a sense of danger and urgency. The chorus mentions "1001 nights unseen," referencing the famous collection of Arabian folk tales known as "One Thousand and One Nights." This alludes to a world filled with mystery and enchantment.
The second verse introduces an ancient mariner navigating a vast desert, with the burning beauty of his tomb being a grave worth dying for. This line suggests a longing for eternal rest and possibly an obsession that drives the mariner forward.
The bridge section describes a heaven with a darkened face and dunes soaring like they are in a chase. It portrays a desolate landscape and a cursed caravan pursuing the protagonist across the waves. The mention of mirages and Elysian fields implies the possibility of finding solace and peace amid the harshness of the desert.
The chorus is repeated twice at the end, emphasizing the significance of the "philosopher and the queen" and their unseen adventures and struggles. The repetition of "1001 nights unseen" further reinforces the mystical nature of their journey.
Overall, "Sahara" by Nightwish combines elements of mythology and folklore to create a tale of adventure and escape. The song touches upon themes of longing, pursuit, and the search for transcendence in a treacherous world.

Nightwish has a sound for every ear! and that's the beautiful thing... I've been a fan since 2004 and I think that people generally make good lists for reactors, but they tend to be guided by those longer and more surprising songs, and that can be overwhelming many times, because they are presenting you a band with too many sounds, too many arrangements, and a lot of depth in their lyrics, and perhaps a song with a more contemporary sound may be a better option for those new to nightwish...I will give a simple example that would captivate anyone without introducing its masterpieces...(which of course everyone has to get there at some point)
    Romantice
    Sahara
    Storytime
    Ghost river
    Amaranth
    Ever dream
    Shy is my sin
    Dead boy poem
    High Hopes
    Dark chest of wonders
The phantom of the opera... etc

Loved the reaction and subbed...greets from Australian chapter.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it....Floor's husband Hannes Van Dahl is the drummer for Sabaton - they are power metal band from Sweeden and majority of their songs are based on war and events. Start with Bismark official video - play each video to the end as there dedications, outtakes, etc.
    Songs you maybe interested in
    - Screaming eagles
    - the lost batallion
    - to hell and back
    - 82nd all the way
    - devil dogs
    - Midway
    - hellfighters
    - the final stand
They have done covers of "for whom the bell tolls" and "1916"
There is a sister channel called Sabaton history 15-20 minutes mini docos....enjoy and you're welcome!

Hey there Mr & Mrs Coach, a great chugging song that often gets missed among the other gems. The orchestral parts are very much instrumental (no pun intended) here. Floor's vocals showcased here I feel. Empuu's guitar solo, as short as it was, outstanding. This song is 'dark treacle'. Mrs Coach nailed it about Tuomas, he writes to incorporate the singer's abilities. By the way, I love whiskey and ice cream so a whiskey ice cream treat would do me. From one nut to another, great reaction. Cheers, Rich

No rush to get to the biggies, they'll still be here after your move. Since you liked the Middle Eastern feel of this, can I suggest _Tribal?_ Go for the official live video (with clips from multiple shows), but then watch the lyric video so you can properly see the animation happening in the background. Enjoy!

I suggest two songs from them that fits both of you, the Rock‘n‘Roller and Mrs. Coach: First one is „Shoemaker“, raw and solid with an epic ending.
The second is „Tribal“, very catchy! both from the last Album. There is an official Live Video from Tribal. Shoemaker has an epic live Video at Hellfest, but for this song, you could try the official album VersionVideo first, and then the epic live to see how the band does it live (Floor in full Goodess mode!) Greetings from Germany 🔥🤘🫶 P.S. And I‘m still hoping that you’ll react to High Hopes from NW 🫶

    A great song IMO
Written for Annette, Floor as usual brings it to a different level.
This isn't the only Tuomas song that has the Eastern feel (created by using suspended pentatonic or harmonic minor scales).
You get a similar feeling, as you might expect from the names, in Tutankhamun and Pharaoh Sails to Orion .
In this performance, Flors snake charming dance adds to the whole atmosphere, but I love Emppu's guitar too.
I do have a spreadsheet of all the 30+ concerts I have on video with the best performances of every song (IMO) highlighted and have sent it to rectors before so they can use it (actually, put it on Google Drive).

How was that ice cream and whiskey? We don't intend to put you to work. However, if you understand the overall concept and story of the songs. will allow you to more fully grasp the emotion and lyrical concepts of these songs.
Highly underrated song. I also love it and music using the harmonic minor keys to achieve middle eastern vibe.
