I wish I could play the piano like that I can play the piano but I’m not that good she reminds me of one of my cousins she used to play like that. May God bless you Kim and your family too.
love the way kim plays! she's truly gifted and blessed! think it's funny at 2:45 when she does little "jumps" cracks me up! my mom played piano for over 60yrs and i never EVER saw her do that! can't even really imagine my mom doing that but it looks so cute when kim does it! YOU GO GIRL!
Kim is THE GREATEST pianist, bar none!!! She is also a beautiful soul and plays her heart out to the Lord. This is what I love about her besides her beautiful playing. She plays unto the Lord.
How about Franz Liszt or Cziffra because they composed the most difficult pieces especially Remenicences de Don Juan or Huegnots or his 12 Transcendental Etudes.
I’m sure there were many ppl that came to the alter that day after they heard you play “The Battle of Jericho”. If I was in your audience, I’m positive I would feel like my personal chains were taken off! Praise the Lord; for the gift of music that Kim Collingsworth has been blessed with, Amen!
I love to hear Kim play. You just never know what she is going to do she makes so much fun. I love the different ways that she played Joshua fit the battle of Jericho. I love the ragtime at the end.
U Did Not Even Get Sister Kim Collingsworth To Even Play And Have The Whole Crowd Sing Along To The Song Alleluia Alleluia Alleluia Alleluia. Thank U Jesus Thank U Jesus. Thank U Jesus Thank U Jesus.
Teresa O'Keefe The word "fit" comes from slave days when they were not properly educated to use the word "fought". Just like the word "Gwine" was used for "going" or "De" was used for "The". That said, some music arrangers choose to edit the language of Spirituals by substituting the correct words because they don't want to be embarrassed for using incorrect words. However, others realize it's a part of the history of Spirituals and they leave the wording alone. We have to be careful that we're not too worried about cleaning up or *formalizing* the language of spirituals to the degree that the songs lose their essence as having come out of the slave experience.
Thank you Isaac Thomas for your thorough explanation. I'm familiar with many of the words from slave vernacular, but had not heard "fit" I do love words, and I am always eager to learn more about any subject. I agree that "sanitizing" language whether in musical titles or even in books such as Faulkner's "The Sound and the Fury" or one of my favorites "The Bluest Eye" dishonors the era, people, or location of which the author writes. Yes, indeed - Joshua FIT dat battle! :-) Thanks again.
Teresa O'Keefe You're most welcome. You seem like a GREAT person! I love how polite your replies are. That's refreshing in this day and age of such negative comments. Thanks so much and be blessed!
My Goodness! I got goosebumps on my entire body!!! That was unbelievable. This version needs to be recorded in a studio.
Amazing! I love how her daughter is casually sitting over there like “yeah this is normal”
If the actual battle of Jericho had a song playing in the background, it would be this version. Amazing!
