Just bought an O-Coast last week, and I could not be more pleased. I have lots of fun synth gear, but the O-Coast has a sound and feel, that are uniquely wonderful. The build quality is great, the layout, and knob spacing are perfect for me. I like the graphics too, and find they make it easy for me to know how it is internally patched. There is even a handy cheat sheet, on the bottom, to help with the hidden functions. Also love all the helpful content on the MakeNoise RUclips site. Want to say thanks to the nice folks at MakeNoise, for this great synth, and also for the Maths EuroRack module, another great product. Best wishes for your continued success. DA VE
Just ordered mine about an hour ago! I've been watching all the videos I could find and hankering for it (no music shops in my city to test on, gotta just kinda trust my instincts after hours and hours of youtube videos) I received my Arturia Minibrute 2Sa week ago, and have gone through the cookbook. This was my very first step into the modular world. It was seriously intimidating and confusing at first, but after working through the cookbook, patterns started emerging. ADSR out to VCO 2 in, for example. That one was a frequent visitor. So, after a whole afternoon doing that, suddenly the patchbay seemed like fun, rather than intimidating. Now, my 0-Coast arrives in a few days (paid and shipping!) and I am super excited to see how I ca make it work within itself, and then how I can make it work with the 2S. Once I've paid off my credit card, I know what's next... A Rackbrute 6U followed by The Morphagene. From there, the Disting 3 or 8 to increase connectivity, and from there? I don't know. Poverty, most likely.
Not sure if you mentioned it in the video, but can the 0-coast be played poly- or duophonically when attached to a keyboard via midi? Much appreciated, looking forward to getting into the world of synths by Make Noise products! :)
Guys, do you plan to make another 0-Coast with a bit more features? I'm not sceptical, it's a cool machine. But I'll definitelly want one that will have a noise generator added. Anyway, thanks for that you're doing already!
the 0-COAST already has noise generation functionality. Patch either Oscillator output to the CLocK IN, and the Stepped Random OUT will operate at audio rate producing a gorgeous Pitched NOISE. A bonus of this is that the NOISE will track 1V/ Octave just like the OSCILLATOR. If you do not want your NOISE tied to the pitch of the OSCILLATOR, patch something else that is audio rate to the CLK IN such as the EOC from the SLOPE circuit (set to CYCLE). There is a couple of patches for this in the manual.
I've thought that it can be possible to generate a noise somehow.. But it would be cool to have it as a basic built-in generator plus these oscillators. So it can be a modulator to anything or can be mixed together with OSCs without wiring it too much. Anyway, thanks for the answer!
Everything you've suggested is already possible with only a couple patch cables. Check out the patch ideas in the manual. But answer your original question, there not another 0-COAST planned. We feel quite confident this 0-COAST is the one we want to make :)
You know what would be awesome? Could you do a video tutorial on how to export audio from either a DAW or another device to use with your effects modules like the EreVerb or the Echophone? That essentially makes your shared system not only a great synth, but a fantastic production tool as well!
Not sure what exactly you mean. You can patch any audio source directly to these modules. It is recommended to use pre-amplification since they expect very high amplitude signals.
Why does the 0 Coast not have a power on/off switch/button? Can you recommend a DC extension cable to do this job? Why is the Program A/B button combo thing so needlwssly complicated? Why not put jsut a couple additional buttons on the unit to simplify the configuration process? Other than those two things, this little box rules!
To achieve that set SLOPE RISE to Full CCW for Saw Shape and patch Gate from MIDI_A to SLOPE Trigger IN. You could use MIDI_B Gate OUT to get a copy of the MIDI_A Gate OR you could take the CONTOUR EON (End Onset) Gate out and patch that. The ONSET setting would then allow for staggering (or not) the SLOPE Reset.

The cables are colour coded by length; so larger systems come with a variety of lengths in a variety of colours, including: black; white; blue; purple; and, yes, pink. The 0-coast comes with both pink (6") and white (12") cables.

Amazing synth with a great price tag! And it doesn't require space in the rack :)
Wow, love the sound of this!
So small, so powerful!
Fantastic ! So excited for this release :)
pre-ordered mine cannae wait
I LOVE YOU MAKE NOISE ! I HAVE A DREAM.........
any chance you could do a video explaining the midi features and the pgm_a/pgm_b buttons, it's a bit difficult to get my head around in the manual.
Yes, we are working on it! Stay tuned.

I've noticed this 'lil guy being called a "Zero", "No", and "Oh" coast. Are these all correct?
YES!
Donut Coast would also be acceptable
@@Absolutelywhack LOL.......A hertz donut?
I'm slowly turning to makenoise addict...will need some therapy soon

Does the slope key sync (resets at note on) when in repeat mode ?And what about the midi lfo ?

what's up with that midi input? I need some kind of interface to connect this to my midi sequencer?
Little Gator Farm the 0-Coast uses included MIDI to mini-jack connector
Nice!
Can I use it without midi keyboard? I want just to connect it to my audio interface and record it directly to my DAW
yes! you will need at least one patch cable to open the dynamics circuit, which should be no problem because the 0-Coast comes with several of them :)
Nicely done. This should really bridge the gap between the modular and mainstream realms.
Do all makenoise synths come with those pink cables? lol
The cables are colour coded by length; so larger systems come with a variety of lengths in a variety of colours, including: black; white; blue; purple; and, yes, pink. The 0-coast comes with both pink (6") and white (12") cables.
So this is what Robocops (the original Robocop) OCP farts sound like.
Hey is there any demos using the External Audio Input? Thanks!
Hi, where can I buy this in India?
Which midi keyboard is he using?
It's a MicroKorg. Most videos we made since this one use the Arturia KeyStep.
Is this all analog?
The MIDI section, tap tempo, and random voltage generator are digital. Otherwise 100% analog.
I like it and i want it
Ok i want it
love my 0-coast. only a pity that it is not battery powered as well...😣
Wreckless Reto Do a search. There are battery packs that work with the 0-Coast.
No Eurorack version? Really?
Why don't you answer your mails??

first he calls it "zero-coast" later he calls it "oh-coast". Later still, he calls it "no-coast" even the maker doesn't know what to call it 😆
