- Hello! I hope y'all enjoyed this insight into my opinion on the recent announcement for Thriller 40. I'd love to hear what your thoughts are so please leave comments down below.
***EDIT- I made a mistake. I'm not sure that the target vinyl release will have the second track listing with all of the unreleased stuff. However, it does come with a special commemorative vinyl slipmat. Walmart will also be having a special vinyl release, but it will have the Thriller 40 logo on the cover and I'm also not sure if it will have the second track listing either.

I didn’t wait to see the awards and just watch the performance on youTube. However my friends were talking about the fact that the Billboards did not say MJ”s name. I am so glad the Maxwell said Michael’s name and yes, #weloveyoumichaeljackson. I might buy the special CD, but I need to buy a better CD player first to hear the enhancement difference. I agree with you about the design needing some work and they need to take this to a higher level of design. I like your idea on your design too. I'm waiting to see what else they do for this anniversary because I've seen some confirmations of 4K remastered short films and celebrations. There's a possibility that they could be holding off on the REALLY big stuff until Thriller50 but that doesn't excuse the design of course. Hi hunny it is so sad the way they are treating michael 😢 he doesn't deserves this treatment. Michael has not done nothing wrong he made them so much money from thriller and they are doing this to him it's out of order they should show respect and something really special for michael and his family and fan's instead of keeping it on a low it just get me so up set it's all to do with the media and the management I think michael jackson won his case and is a billion percent INNOCENT INNOCENT ALWAYS AND FOREVER God bless Michael jackson ❤️ 💙 ♥️ 💖 it a good job that the family and fan's have his back ❤️ 💙
I really hope that after seeing our outrage from this design, the estate will do better on next projects. I agree, people have treated Michael so bad throughout his life and even now after he's passed. He and his family deserve better 😞❤
If I sounded super critical that's because I don't feel like this is the best they could have done on that design. I've seen them do better. I want something that's gonna properly represent Michael and what he would have wanted and this design just doesn't reflect that :/
Why this release is a disappointment so far: no 4k announcement of the Thriller music video, no Dolby Atmos, no DTS-HD 2.0 or 5.1 mixes. The bonus cd sounds interesting. The two MoFi releases sound interesting, but again, why is this new copy of Thriller on SACD stereo only? Where is the 5.1 mix?
I would like to see the thriller 3d Version and songs like FOR ALL TIME and STARLIGHT. and a album cover of that Michael is the werewolf and the zombie. Michael R.i.p love you forever mutch love from the netherlands.
Uk Salutations Tori,great to hear your thoughts on Thriller 40,definitely wait until finalised track listings. I hope they release the Thriller short films in 4K. Look out for the documentary on the making of Thriller with contributions by the late Bruce Swedien called Sonic Fantasy.
Hello! Thank you so much for watching! I believe the estate has confirmed in a recent email that they will be releasing 4K shortfilms from the Thriller album. I'm not exactly sure which ones, so we will just have to wait and see. Thanks for letting me know about the Bruce Swedien doc, I will definitely be on the lookout for it.
Great commentary, totally agree with how the industry loves acknowledging the numbers, but not the artist himself. Good observation.
I really just want quality box set 180g vinyl reissues and making of documentaries. I’m so sick of the damn picture discs lol god I’m so sick of the picture discs.
A box set would definitely be ideal! I've seen some fanmade examples of what the box set could look like and it was amazing. The fans really outdo the estate. I've even seen people suggest a remastered DVD of The Jacksons Victory Tour. I'm hoping someone like Spike Lee would do a Thriller doc like the Bad 25 and OTW ones.

I appreciate your honesty i said it before and i'll say it again you're a real one and YES Michael would def be proud of us and pretty sure he's smiling BIG from up there. Billboards was kinda shady for not acknowledging MJ and the thriller album which was what people were hyped about > didn't happen 😒 don't get me wrong Maxwell disappointed if i remember correctly he sang way better other times the performance was overall kinda blah i do love the fact he said we love you michael jackson and that the hashtag trended ! MJ's legacy aint going nowhere 💪🏽the moonwalkers aint going anywhere either. The estate yeah they SUCK!!! sorry for the rant and thank you for being real much love to you 💖💫🙏🏽
No need to apologize for stating how you feel!🙌🏾 You a real one as well sis. I'm not gonna sit up here and just sugarcoat everything just to please the estate. That estate isn't Michael and I'm here to help push his legacy the right way, not just go along with everything they do just cuz they're releasing MJ stuff. Afterall, he motivates us in his music to not fall dormant& just accept any and everything. He told us to stand up speak up when things aren't done right. It's really on the Moonwalkers to stand firm on what he would have wanted to keep his legacy going in the right way. I think we've been misled about the scope and quality of Michael's unreleased music. If there was so many diamonds to be unearthed we would have heard more by now. Don't be surprised if the second disc is precisely everything the fans have already heard.
The new logo is disappointing! It's oversimplified!
I agree! And Michael was a complex person, so this logo really doesn't fit his artistry :/
