    The review/video in May this year was very helpful explaining the benefits of having a geared tripod head and how it works. This is a great follow up video explaining how to set it up and use it on location. Thank you Dean

    Good Video. This is a great head helping get my composition just where I want it. The camera does not move like it does on a ball head.

    You had me until 4:50 Portrait mode. "Fiddly" is an understatement. But thank you for doing the video--much appreciated :)

      Yes they are very much needed to be used with an L bracket.

      Thank you for the response. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the new plus version. BTW, what part of Australia does that beautiful landscape belong to?

    Sure it’s light and nice compared with the 410 but how does it behave under a 500mm lens? I see it’s rated to 4kg but looks rather flimsy…

    • @deancooperphotography2896
      @deancooperphotography2896  3 года назад

      Hi, it is certainly not flimsy, if your 500mm has a collar mount and is under 4kg with the body then you would be fine. Maybe not the preferred choice for that set up. If shooting action or moving subjects I prefer a ball head or gimbal. Cheers

    Great tutorial very helpful. What is the diameter of the tripod head base? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Thanks for the review. I have been looking for a lighter gear head (currently use Manfrotto 400) and looks like this fits the bill. Any recommendation for the tripod?

    Hi Dean,
    Thanks for your useful video.
    So far so good with this head?
    Any issue once you lock the knob and it has a slight movement on the top part(angle slightly off a bit) ?
    Cheers

    • @deancooperphotography2896
      @deancooperphotography2896  3 года назад +2

      Yes all good with this head. As for the slight movement when tightening the panning base, I did some investigating after seeing a youtube video on it, and what I found was that on the locking knob, some ( a very small number) had a slight burr on the end. I filed this off and it stopped the movement. I sell these heads, so I checked quite a few of them and only found one that did it. If you buy one and it does it ( a small chance) you can file off the burr or send it back and the distributor will fix it for you. Cheers Dean

      @@deancooperphotography2896 yes , i did try to control those knobs, they had got a smooth movement .But be caution one thing, when we should not tighten hard this head into tripod though, it is very hard to un tighten it in case we need to swap to ballhead.

    Thank you.Very helpful. I am awaiting delivery of mine. Can I ask? Can the top 'pano' mount/clamp be removed, as one can with a ball head? I would always pan from the bottom. I have an integrated leveling base on my tripod. If you can remove the top pano. I would swop out with a non-pano lever style clamp such as SmallRig's 2143 QR clamp. I personally prefer over screw types.

    • @deancooperphotography2896
      @deancooperphotography2896  3 года назад

      Hi Brian, that I'm not sure, there are 4 small ellen key screws that remove the top half of the panning clamp, I'm guessing there is a main screw under that to remove the lower half. You may have to check it out when yours arrives. Cheers Dean

    Do you think this geared head would be a good substitute for a tilted lens?

    • @deancooperphotography2896
      @deancooperphotography2896  3 года назад

      Hi Rachael, a tilt/shift lens changes persepctive and position of the lens to the film plane, a geared head can't do that so they are both quite different, cheers Dean

    Have you tried more than 4kg on this head? I mean like a Pro Body with a Medium Zoom?

    • @deancooperphotography2896
      @deancooperphotography2896  3 года назад

      To be honest I would use this head for a rig that size even though it is rated to 5kg
