The only time I had yeast infections was when i had a bf who drank alot. When i dumped the bf, the candida when away. Diet absolutely has an affect on the biome.
This was a great podcast in as far as it went. Unfortunately, like so many doctors there was no mention of gynae problems in post menopausal women which is a time when low estrogen plays havoc with the health of the vagina and vulva. This is a very vulnerable time for women especially as there are so few sub specialists in this area and so conditions often go undiagnosed and untreated. Perhaps the next podcast will deal with this.
Please do an episode on PCOS! I love that Zoe is talking about so many understudied women’s issues and would love to hear some advice I could use for my health!
I have read many books, I listened to many RUclips videos by many of the world's leading gurus and health experts but nothing came close to the hidden herbs by anette ray. I recommend everyone giving it a read.

Why is there no mention of fibroids in this episode? leading cause of hysterectomy, doctors say its hormonal (estrogen induced) but they never say a word of lifestyle changes to reduce them
yes! they briefly mentioned endometriosis which is a win, but would love a more specific endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids etc from a specialist in that area

Thanks for a BRILLIANT podcast! Very real problems that get overlooked and untreated in too many cases by NHS, partly because of lack of education and knowledge of GPs, and by the shocking paucity of female Gynies in the UK. It’s a challenge to find available professional Ob-gyn even in London. Young girls and women do not want to go to a male gynie, which means they suffer for years undiagnosed, on the pill that GP gives them which makes things worse down the line, often triggering devs of IBS, complicating PCOS. Instead of prescribing nutritional & lifestyle changes and refer them to dietitian or at least Health Coaches. But then again, GPs know diddly squat about nutrition, they never advice on dietary choices (beyond ‘eat low-fat dairy for high cholesterol). British doctors know less than monkeys about the main fuel that runs the body 🤯 Evidence? Here, ask any cancer survivor - cancer patients are told to eat anything, and are “treated” by sweets, biscuits, ultra-processed sugary crap (which is literally cellular poison!) during chemo sessions. Private sector - identical coz UK has no private healthcare really, absolute majority are the same doctors at NHS & private clinics. It’s a SOS situation in women’s health. WHEN will the medical education reflect what the global science, and UK’s own research labs and teams have discovered and know about female health, nutrition, cancer and lots of other conditions? Seems like med-schools curricullum is dead stuck in the 80’s of the previous century. 😢
Hi from an actual cancer biologists. No sugar is NOT 'cellular poison'. This is pure bs. Cells run on sugars, in fact, especially your brain cells. Please stop spreading total misinformation. You do not know better. This is so exasperating to see time and again, and if ZOE had any self respect they would address such woo. But they're making money off ideas like this, so.
Please do a whole episode on PCOS! These topics are so complex. You could easily do a whole episode on each of the topics you touched on here. And you've looked at Menopause in a few other episodes, so there's no reason you couldn't do more of a deep dive in to PCOS and endometriosis.
Canada has known and treated Yeast and BV for quite a while with probiotics. I had bought theirs about 4 times over the period of about 12 years. They were an honest blessing and then some body found out here in the US and it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to get them. However, there are some you can take orally that help sometimes as long as you don’t eat sugar.
Diet did not improve my PCOS whatsoever. Diet only helped my blood sugar and cholesterol to perfect scores but severe menstrual issues were only controlled via hormone pills which had other adverse side effects. It’s not the why. Stress levels of the mother during and after pregnancy is probably the biggest cause imo.
Stress levels of the mother affect everything about a child, even causing higher rates of LGBT in the children of stressed mothers. Not because of genes but because stress hormones cause children to develop psychological disorders
Animal based low carb diet. That’s how I am away from gynecologists and dermatologists. They did nothing good to me. I had PCOS and acne and candida and more.
It's important to know that there are four areas in medical school that are not covered for medical students. What is a "good diet", the one your PCP may ask you about. There is no effective didactic work on nutrition in any U.S. medical school that puts its curricula online. The same goes for mental health and stress management (Which many medical students really need). Same for exercise, vitaminology or supplements. Just forget diets or cooking. Just take a look at what those very students feast on through training. We all need to understand where physicians who begin to preach about these things (With exceptions of course) where the knowledge and skill was derived from. Its a fair question and needs to be in the open. Its a huge open sore for medicine in the USA and elsewhere.
I did the carnivore lifestyle. Cut out sugar and focussed on egg, chicken and beef and vitamins. Now all of the sudden I have type 1 diabetes. Wich is not known in my family history. Doctors can't explain. They tell me to use insulin for the rest of my life. Turning back to a more vegan diet. Lots of soup. no bread, rice or pasta. Lifestyle is a big factor for diseases too. I believe that longterm stress makes our organs ill
Lots of people are not able to have the time to look after themselves. They need money to live just in the western diet environment let alone the real healthy foods.
Feels like a circle or catch 22 doesn't it? I mean how you will need to have the resources (not just money, but time, energy, transportation, space in your home, the support of people around you or at the very least not be thwarted by them) to implement a lifestyle that HELPS getting healthier, fitter, more balanced, more energy and headspace, which are exactly what you need in the first place to get to nourishing the body instead of just filling it up ✌️
I think there was not enough specific science based information. Very loose and generic comments and suggestions. This episode is not usual quality of Zoe.
I pray to God that everyone who is reading this gets better and stays healthy. What helped me is using the herbs from the book the hidden herbs by anette ray
In this era of quality detailed information on RUclips, to put out more generic information that we all know like "just eat healthy" etc . . didn't add any value
Menopause is not an illness, but part of the journey of a female human being. An important stage in a finite life; birth, childhood, puberty, fertile woman, infertile older woman, elderly woman, dead woman. Each stage invites a change of style. A new start even. So why is menopause attracting so much attention? Yes, the change can be difficult; but so was birth, and puberty; so is dying. While women are encouraged to pretend to be eternally young, ageing will always problematic. What’s wrong with being old? And why does the ‘blond’ Dr Ashton use black mascara? ah! Make up, skin creams, oils, vitamins, HRT: the elixirs of eternal life! What’s wrong with being old - and looking old? I don’t feel old, I love it! Embrace it, (CBT?) own it and don’t mess with added hormones. Or mascara… it’s so… ageing…
If you have to compete for job positions, mate attracting, are surrounded by the bleached hair makeup wearing folk, it makes perfect sense. I next to never see high heels or makeup in the countryside, whereas in the city it is quite normal to see people who work in an office dressed to impress/looking expensive. Not sure her mascara use and choice of mascara color really needed that dig though. ✌️
Seriously why are you compelled to criticise . You see I hear that in your attempt to promote your ideas about ageing you’ve completely ignored her expertise and competency as a doctor and reduced to commenting on her hair and makeup . This is the kind of thing we criticise men for. .

The low carbs are key, cause carbs turn into glucose, which can cause insuline resistence
