It feels very old indeed. Incredible. Old but modern. The Orthodox church is awe inspiring......makes you cry. As clean and beautiful as this city is, it is surprising the graffiti is not swept away.

Nice views Eddie. I was waiting to see the Georgian food plates. I'm still debating between Nizhny and St. Pertersburg. I think my chances of a good spot for the Art Pour Paint workshop is better at Nizhny. Hope they repaint those graffiti walls.
They need to put surveillance cameras around all the areas that these idiots are tagging with their $h1t art, and get all the graffiti areas repainted IMMEDIATELY. There's NO excuses for that crap!
Since Nihzny is the "capital of everything", I guess that includes graffiti. Thanks for an authentic video, as I have heard they are welcoming immigration there.
@ it is indeed. Important that the vid you put out was a quick walk about on a grey day. Watched a much longer driving video of Nizhny on a sunny fall day, starting from the suburbs and winding through the city pretty much end to end. From this you get the very old historic and very well planned new. Beautiful city.
Nizhny looks like the kind of place I'd want to settle over Moscow or St. Petersburg. Visiting the other cities would be great, or maybe spending a first year in them, renting an apartment and getting acclimated. But, I'd rather live somewhere that's not as bustling and huge.
As a westerner interested in relocating to Russia and preferably near Moscow, a city like this would be interesting. Having said that i feel like your video barely scratches the surface. Could you talk more about prices, investment opportunities, nightlife, amenities, what are the hospitals like?, nature, weather, whats best parts of the city, distance from Moscow, etc. Thanks

I don't live in Nizhny. My report was just a brief summary of my first experience in the city as a visitor. Check Countryside Acres channel. They live in the area.
I believe it's the third or fourth largest city in Russia, and it's not small. It was (and still is) home to the GAZ auto works, originally set up by Ford.
Previously, Nizhny Novgorod was called Gorky in honor of the writer Maxim Gorky, who lived there. In the 90s, the city was returned to its former historical name.

The graffiti is not a major issue by the look of things , the graffiti is not so visible in the city…I’ve seen major cities in Europe with graffiti everywhere. From what you have shown I like Nizhny Novgorod and there are some old beautiful buildings too , of course , some of these buildings are good for restoration .

Yes some of the buildings did remind me of Mexico. For me it would be too large of a city to live in. I like the country and small communities. My question is why are they promoting westerners to take up residence there? What do the locals think? Maybe some of the graffiti was negative towards foreigners.
No, the grafitti is not in any way negative toward foreigners. The regional government wants to attract tourists and residents to the area. The economic future of the area is bright and it will need people to work in industry and to support the local economy. It's a good program.
